Imagining reader who is a retired hero desperately trying to stay out of the buisness during the fight against Conquest and Mark. Somehow Conquest gets thrown through the fucking fence in your backyard and now to the GDA and Mark he's just missing. (How? don't ask me). Reader is trying his hardest to straight up just not get involved in the world ending events.
(I'd like to think the readers powers have something to do with creating shields. Somethign defensive or supporive in a way.)
But now you can't ignore it because he's literally right there in your backyard seconds away from death and the least you can do is comfort him in his last few moments. You go through the effort of hauling this giant ass man back into your house so he can at least die on a fucking bed next to someone.
Except he just doesn't die. Mark didn't finish him off so he is still alive and he's a Viltrumite so if he doesn't get killed he ain't dying. Cut to you trying to clean some of the blood off his face already thinking about how you're gonna have to just buy new sheets when he just reaches out and grabs your fucking hand.
He thinks your tying to trick him or he's been deained and you've just gotta explain that you just wanted to help him in his last moments while behind one of yor shields because he definitley tried to punch your chest in.
You're kinda hoping he'll leave now that he's awake, but you were literally the first person to ever show him kindness so he just kinda stays. And now you've got this big ass, violent man you've gotta teach to be normal and act like he's got some since all while trying to avoid the GDA literally air striking your house.
