_____
Cole was blindfolded. That and very clueless. He was being brought to a mystery location by his boyfriend Kai, as of late. He had absolutely no idea where he was being led, but based on the harmonious bird chirps and background noise he guessed they were outside somewhere. He liked being outside. It was always so calm and peaceful.
Kai was still talking, though. 'when does he ever stop,' Cole had mused, sporting a smile. His boyfriend was the more talkative one in the relationship, although they both liked their quiet time.
He squabbled something about 'just wait til ya see this', 'boy yer gonna love this place, Cole, it's filled with blah blah blah' and some other things.
--
Cole was now sitting on a couch cushion. Somewhere.
Wasn’t it a bit weird for there to be a couch cushion outside? Well it was comfy, so he wasn't complaining.
Cole heard a ‘Ready?’ from beside himself, and responded with a laugh and a nod.
Seconds later, his eyesight was met with- at first, a very bright something -but then the most beautiful field he’d ever laid eyes upon. He gasped. In its entirety the field wasn’t really anything special, it’s not like it was a tourist attraction or anything. But the colour of the grass, and the overall vibe of the place made him smile to himself. Birds were chirping, the whole field was perfectly flat, and there was even a little picnic blanket set out for the two of them.
He asked Kai something about where he found this place, and Kai had responded saying siri had recommended it to him. Cole laughed.
Typical.
--
Seeing Kai smile made Cole smile, too. It was kind of something they did a lot when they were around each other.
Well, smiling, yeah.
Kai was the kind of person to light up a room by kicking the door down and yelling; 'your party just got crashed'. (they still need to work on their entrances) But Kai was sweet, and funny, too. Not to mention... attractive.
Speaking of, this place was pretty attractive, too. Cole took a deep breath, taking in the sight. He was touched that Kai even took the time to organize this.
This was nice, just the two of them.
--
Kai pulled out his backpack, and from that a book. Not an official book, per se. It seemed more like a notebook. Cole was actually getting quite excited to see where this would lead.
Kai cleared his throat, and flipped to the first page of the notebook.
“This,” he read, “Is a story to the love of my life, the man of my dreams, who I couldn't imagine spending my life without”
Cole definitely didn't blush.
“With whom I wish to spend the rest of my life with”
Aw, cute.
Wait.
What?
--
Getting on one knee, Kai pulled out a box. In that box a ring. Followed by a confession, tears of joy, and one genuine 'yes'.
--
Kai was looking at him with possibly the most adoration that one could. It was contagious, that look. Cole was forced by himself to smile too.
The two lovers stared at one another for what felt like en eternity. Kai grabbed one of his hands, and squeezed it, as if asking permission.
Cole would have to tell him AGAIN that he doesn't need to ask permission for a kiss.
He smiled, granting the question, and leaned in, closing the space between the two men.
Ah, god.
He'd never get enough of the feeling of Kai's lips on his.
--
Sitting with his fiancé on a couch cushion in the middle of an empty field, Cole felt amazing. If he could fly, he'd have reached the stars, by now.
Kai nudged him, with a 'one more thing', and pulled out the book. With a lopsided grin he'd said he 'wrote it himself'.
"Oops! Forgot the snacks."
Can't forget the snacks.
Oh, how Cole was happy. How couldn't he be happy when he was going to marry possibly the hottest guy on the planet?
Cole sighed.
He couldn't wait for the story.
