This was hard, but I like this one: I vainly shushed him, like a newborn’s mother, and cursed it all without moving my lips—the Electra and her too-small fuel supply, the radio for cutting in and out or whatever the hell it was doing, everyone on the ground in New Guinea and Howland and on the Itasca and the Ontario and the parachutes we stupidly threw out and my husband for suggesting I write a book and Noonan for his hand in this because I knew he had one somehow.

19. Which character most fits a character trope? Which trope?

I could go for some really obvious ones, but I won’t. Instead I’ll just tell you that Noonan is definitely getting the Beard of Sorrow.

You guys made the writing bug bite me. Rude. Gonna see what I can accomplish in these next couple days with my own WIP. I have the queue for this blog and my sister-witches set to carry you for a couple days. If only I could do the same thing with my homework.

I am a second-degree brown belt in Shaolin Kenpo, and I dabbled in Krav Maga. I also love taking self-defense classes. You should take one, too, reader. Everyone should.

I met Boyfriend in ninth grade at a now-extinct café that held karaoke on Fridays. I sang “Year 3000” by the Jonas Brothers. (Yes, I do regret that decision every day of my life.) He was dressed in a suit for no reason. Actual words I said to him because I’m the biggest flirt you ever did see: “Oh, our names are only two letters apart—that must mean something.”

Okay, one more thing about Boyfriend and then I’ll shut up. Both he and my brother are actors. The former is going to be Smee in Peter and the Starcatcher, and the latter is going to be Scuttle in The Little Mermaid. As a fairy tale- and Disney-loving girl, I am over the moon. I could give you so many details, but I’ll leave it at that.

I am working my way through The West Wing. I am currently on the eighteenth episode of the sixth season, and I love every minute. Okay, most minutes.

I code-mix a lot. Not even because I know Spanish particularly well, but just because my brain likes one word better and uses it. For example, I’ll almost always say mira instead of look, and then tell you what you should be looking at in English.

I haven’t written in several days because my online classes are kicking my butt. In case you’re wondering, I’m taking Languages and Culture (ANT 3610), and The Theory and Practice of Teaching ESOL Students in Schools (TSL 4080).

Everyone in my nuclear family has an animal we love above all others. Mine is an otter, Mommy’s is an elephant, Daddy’s is an owl, and my brother’s is a chameleon. We frequently send each other funny and/or adorable videos/pictures/GIFs/articles about the other person’s respective animal. They all happen to fit our personalities in some way.

I don’t wear make-up except for very special occasions like weddings. Reasons being (1) I am lazy, (2) my mommy and my boyfriend and I say I’m very pretty without it, and (3) I have neither the tools nor the inclination to learn how to apply make-up correctly.

I love to bake and cook. I’m super excited to have a kitchen and my own room in my dorm this fall because before I was subject to whatever the dining halls served.

O: What motivates you to write?

When an idea is too delicious not to dive into, and just because I love to write so much. If we’re talking about what makes me want to write even when I don’t want to, it’s usually because I want to finish a story, so I gotta suck it up, buttercup.

W: What’s your biggest pet peeve in writing?

I hate when people interrupt me while I’m writing, but I hate that in all aspects of life.

Y: How would you describe the most perfect prose?

IMHO, the most perfect prose has right-on-the-money metaphors, short yet colorful descriptions (though not necessarily using color), good vocabulary, a nice rhythm, witty dialogue that doesn’t sound like it was written, and “By Megan Fuentes” under the title.

T: What’s your favorite part of the writing process?

Oh, gracious, that’s difficult. When the epiphany comes and suddenly you can see through to the end of your piece, that’s a good part. I also like when I’m in THE ZONE™. Compliments, too. I really like compliments and reviews on my work. But mostly compliments.
