Episode 1
Being part of a Netflix series was your dream since you started acting, and when your manager told you that Netflix is searching for new young actors to play in a mini romance series, you did not think twice about it. After some castings and a long wait, you finally got the news and were head over heels. You were freaking excited and grateful and no one could take this happiness from you.
Until you met Harrison Osterfield - your co-star and love interest in the series.
The two of you have hit it off on the wrong foot already on the first day of set and from there you have made it your mission to annoy the hell out of the other every day until one of you finally breaks. You donât seem to regret anything you say, nothing is too harsh or too hurtful for the other. And at one point the both of you are too deep into it to stop.
Thereâs no turning back now.
You walk on todayâs set with an iced coffee in your right hand and your not so expensive sunglasses in the other. A smile breaks out on your face as Kathryn Newton - your other co-star - notices you and greets you with a wave. You are about to walk over to her when you feel a presence behind you, and you donât even have to turn around to know who it is.
âYouâre late, love,â Harrison whispers into your ear, and you close your eyes for a moment to suppress the anger that bubbles in your chest already.
Turning around to the blonde, you give him a forced smile, and the corners of his mouth turn up as he notices the fire in your eyes. âWell, good morning to you too, Harrison,â you say through gritted teeth.
âGood morning, y/n. Iâm glad you found the way here,â he smirks sarcastic, but it falls quickly. âNow hurry, I wanna start.â
You roll your eyes as the blonde pushes past you, hitting your shoulder with his slightly in the process. You already want to go home.
Itâs the third week you are filming the series, and at first you were really eager and excited for all of this. You already played in some smaller movies or a background character in some series, but being the main character in a Netflix series? This is something big. You are still new to the big film industry and everything that comes with it, but you are more than happy that you got the chance to do this. After all, you wanted to get your name out there.
But your excitement quickly vanished as you had to work alongside Harrison for a couple of days. The blonde was arrogant, and you knew that he didnât think about you as a good actor. He made it his mission to annoy you as much as he could between the takes, the breaks and even when they called it quits for the day.
With every passing day you felt more and more exhausted, but quitting was not an option. You worked too hard to get where you are now - you learned every script perfectly, you always managed to make a good impression, and you were excited and ambitious to learn something new every time.
Of course, you werenât an amazing actor immediately, but you always tried your best, working and practicing until the morning hours, mere times a week. You knew from the start that this job was hard, and exhausting, and filled with failure, but after all, you wanted to do this, so you worked for it.
But you did not work your ass off to give everything up now, especially not only because Harrison wants to make your life on set a living hell.
He is stuck with you until the end of filming, so if he wants to mess with you and annoy the living shit out of you, you are more than happy to return the favor. Two can play this game, after all.
Harrison and you get called to the first scene of the day, and you rush over to the director. After a minute or so, Harrison comes to a halt beside you, and you both turn your head to the other to give them a quick side glance.
âI hope you donât wear lip balm this time,â he whispers as the director starts explaining the scene and what you both have to do.
You grin. âI used more this time, extra for you.â
Harrison rolls his eyes and opens his mouth, but before he can say anything, the director stops talking and crosses his arms. âDoes anyone have something to say?â he asks annoyed.
You quickly shake your head and whisper âsorryâ while Harrison tries not to laugh beside you. You want to slap him. This is sadly not the first time that the director is annoyed by the two of you, and you canât even blame him, Harrison and you just canât stop bothering each other.
After the director finally got his chance to explain everything, the blonde and you are sitting down in a car, you in the passenger seat and Harrison in the driverâs seat, his hand laying on your thigh. Your characters are on their way to their shared meaningful place, soft music playing through the radio.
The mini series is about two people who are meant for each other without knowing that they are. They met each other a few times in a few different places and think itâs just some coincidence. However, they donât fall for the other instantly, itâs a simple friendship at first and the romance starts to increase almost at the end of the series. But itâs perfect and right like this. They get to know each other first and built a friendship out of their interest for the other, the love takes a longer way to find them.
The chemistry between the main characters is perfect from the start, they fit into each otherâs personality and lives and complete the other almost perfectly - itâs funny to think that especially Harrison and you have to play them.
Every episode in the series takes place in a different year and a different city, or country. Their love gets built up slowly - in shared car rides, coffee dates, sharing each otherâs favorite places, honest laughter and smiles - and you love how the producers managed to do that so perfect.
Harrison and you work great together in this scene, and you almost forget that you actually hate each other. If you watched the two of you from the outside right now, you would think that you get along well, maybe even that youâre friends.
Everything works great and without many second takes until Harrison and you have to kiss.
You lean over to Harrison, the two of you still sitting in the car, and Harrison softly places his hand on your cheek to pull you closer. You push a curl out of his messy blonde hair and then his lips touch yours - but it feels wrong.
Harrison presses his lips onto yours too hard, too brisk, but you kiss him back nonetheless. You let your hand wander to his neck, like the script tells you to do, and Harrison runs his fingers through your hair, gripping it gently, not like the script wants him to.
When the director shouts cut, and you pull away from Harrison, youâre not even surprised. Harrison lets out a long breath, and you rise your brows in question.
âThe kiss was too passionate, Harrison,â the director says as he walks over to the car. âMake it softer this time, please,â he commands, and the blonde opposite to you nods, his eyes locking with yours.
Harrison and you turn back into your previous position, and when your lips touch this time, it feels better. The kiss is softer and sweeter, more suitable for the first kiss of your characters.
âYou two actually look like friends when youâre working together,â Kathryn laughs and points between Harrison and you, and you scoff.
âI wish we would get along so well like our characters,â you mumble and sit down next to her. Youâre tired and hungry, and you would do everything to drive to a fast food restaurant and eat a cheeseburger right now.
Kathryn wiggles her eyebrows. âSo you want to date him?â
You scrunch up your nose. âThatâs not what I meant,â you reply, shaking your head in disbelief, but you canât hold back a smile.
âAs if I would ever date her,â Harrison scoffs as he walks past the two of you.
You turn around to him, and he sends you an annoying wink. âThank you, Harrison, but no one asked for your opinion.â
The blonde stops in his tracks and you donât like the grin that appears on his face. âYou want to hear my opinion anyway,â he says confidently.
Looking over to Kathryn, you take a quick breath and remain silent, even if every fiber in your body wants to slam Harrisonâs blonde head in the next wall. You donât want to cause a scene - again.
âThatâs what I thought, love.â Harrisonâs eyes are bright and big and filled with fire, and you canât believe that his grin gets even wider.
He walks away, and you turn your head to Kathryn to make a strangling gesture, your body boiling with anger, but Kathryn just shakes her head and smiles.
âYou two are something else.â
The rest of the day goes as planned, you did another scene with Harrison and after that youâre free from him. You only have to do one last scene with Kathryn, and then youâre done for today. You canât wait to let yourself fall into your bed, and when you look over to Kathryn as the two of you wait until Harrison is done with his scene, you know that sheâs ready to go home too.
You watch Harrison play alongside Nick Robinson, his best friend in the series, while you wait, and you have to admit that heâs a good actor - not that you would ever admit that to him in person. He plays the kind, caring and always friendly guy almost perfectly, and now you understand why everyone thinks heâs sweet and nice - they donât realize heâs just playing a role.
Harrison is wearing a light blue hoodie and dark jeans, his hair messy and a few soft curls are hanging down his forehead. His eyes are bright and happy, and his smile looks genuine and gentle. You watch him talk and laugh and gesture with his hands, and if you didnât hate him with a passion, you would probably think heâs cute.
âI canât believe that this all is over in like a month or two,â Kathryn says beside you, lost in her thoughts.
You smile unnoticeable. âYeah, me too. Iâm gonna miss hanging out with you and Nick.â
She makes a sad face and pauses, but then she looks over at Harrison and grins. âArenât you going to miss Haz?â
âOh believe me, Iâm counting the days until I donât have to see Mr. Arrogant every freaking day,â you roll your eyes dramatically.
She laughs. âWhat the hell went wrong between you two?â she questions suddenly and shakes her head, looking directly at you.
But before you can think about her question or even open your mouth, the director calls the both of you to the last scene, and you jump out of your seat to walk over to the set, and thatâs it.

A wide genuine smile appears on your lips as soon as you step onto set the next morning and see Nick standing there.
He turns around to face you as if he suddenly noticed your appearance. He smiles back softly, and you take a moment to look at him. His brown hair is pushed back, he is wearing a black shirt with something written on it, a blue jeans that fits him perfectly and black converse. All in all he looks good, but his big smile is getting the most credit for it.
âGood morning, y/n,â he greets you and pulls you into his arms instantly. âDid you sleep well?â
You smile up at him. âYes, thank you. How did you sleep?â you ask and take a step back.
Nick shrugs. âIt was okay. Haz and I were at a bar last night, so I didnât get much sleep,â he chuckles.Â
And as if you were speaking of the devil, Harrison appeared behind you.Â
âBut that wasnât my fault,â the blonde explains and holds his hands up in surrender. You turn around to him and frown, but Harrison looks over you to Nick, totally ignoring you. âHey, did you get her number?â
Nick nods and a laugh escapes his lips as Harrisonâs brows shoot up and he lifts his right hand to give Nick a high five. âNice, bro,â he smirks, âshe was really hot.â
âI know.â
You shift your weight from one foot to the other, feeling uncomfortable and out of place. You look back and forth between Harrison and Nick, listening to their conversation and for a split second the thought crosses your mind that you donât want Nick to turn into a second Harrison. In the few weeks you have been working with him, you always thought that he was kind and sweet, the complete opposite of Harrison. And you donât want that to change, you donât need another Harrison in your life.Â
âY/n?â Nick asks and softly touches your arm. You zoned out of the conversation and were ready to walk away from the two boys, but now you stop in your tracks to look into Nickâs warm brown eyes.Â
âHm? Sorry I was lost in my thoughts.â
A small smile appears on his lips. âDo you wanna go out and eat something when weâre done here?â He tilts his head slightly, and you canât help but smile back.Â
âOf course, I would love to,â you reply, and Nick gently squeezes your arm with the hand that is still touching you. âWhere do you wanna go?âÂ
The brunette shrugs and lets his hand fall back. âYou can decide.â
âOkay, cool.âÂ
Youâre still smiling up at Nick, and he still smiles down at you, and youâre so lost in his gentle chocolate brown eyes that you miss the way Harrison knits his brows together and clenches his jaw tightly. He doesnât look enthusiastic, but you couldnât care less right now, youâre too focused on someone else.Â

The trailer
âAnd cut!â the director shouts, and you let out a relieved sigh as you finally break the kiss with your co-star. He seems to be as happy as you are, wiping over his mouth with the back of his hand.
âDonât use lip balm or lip gloss or whatever the next time,â he hisses at you and makes a disgusted face. You roll your eyes when he stands up and walks away from you dramatically.
âMaybe you should use some lip balm! Your lips are crusty as hell!â you shout after him, making him turn around and sending you a warning glance. But you donât even care, you arenât scared of the blonde.
âDick,â you mumble to yourself, and you know in your heart that Harrison insulted you too.
You also stand up and walk over to a comfortable chair, another sigh leaving your lips as you let yourself fall onto it. Youâre on the set of a new Netflix series where you play one of the main characters, alongside the famous and beloved Harrison Osterfield - even if you donât understand why everyone likes him so much.Â
For you Harrison is a selfish and arrogant actor that got too high somewhere in his career, and now he feels like he is on top of the world, and he doesnât make a secret out of it in front of you.Â
But you know that Harrison thinks the same about you, and thatâs not just a gut feeling, you actually heard him say that about you to his best friend Tom Holland.Â
Maybe the two of you got something wrong along the way - some misunderstanding, some prejudices, maybe even some miscommunication - but after some weeks of annoying each other, saying hurtful things to the other and maybe already hating each other, you both are too deep in your anger and hurt ego to stop now.
You are too stubborn to give in and let the blonde win, and Harrison is too captured in his rage to even bring the word sorry over his lips. You two have made an unspoken deal to continue this hostility until of you breaks, and neither of you are one to back up from a fight.
Nevertheless, you know that this is going to end badly and that both of you arenât coming out of this without some scars and issues and maybe even a broken heart, but something about pushing Harrison down from his high makes you smile mischievous, and thatâs all worth it.
Youâre in it for the long, hurtful run, and Harrison is too.Â
