Week 10: March 24-28
This week, we had our second consultation, which focused on our Figma design. During the consultation, our instructor pointed out some missing elements that needed to be added or modified. After receiving feedback, my teammate who was in charged for mainly Figma worked on updating and improving the design to ensure it was more complete and functional, especially since our project presentation was coming up soon.
We finalized our Figma design, it took a while and we did our best to finalize it as much as possible, ensuring that all key features were seamlessly integrated and functional through well-structured prototypes. We conducted a thorough review, refining the layout, navigation, and overall user experience to improve usability.
Once we were satisfied with the final result, we presented our work to the panel, which included Sir Marcelino Yu, Sir Carl Suasola, and our supportive SDE instructor, Sir Jhon Lloyd Cabahug.
It was a fun journey designing our website with Figma. There is still a lot of work to be developed, as we will move on to our finishing touch to our paper and then finally, the frontend using react, I'm looking forward to what our website will become, and I am excited on what I can do to achieve it. Best of luck to me and my team :>
Week 9: March 10-14
This week, we focused on downloading and setting up the necessary tools for our backend and frontend development. We installed Laravel for the backend and React for the frontend. Since none of us had prior experience with these technologies, we dedicated time to learning their fundamentals and understanding how to get started. I am been put to be the frontend developer for the team.
The process was quite challenging, as we had no background knowledge of Laravel or React. To navigate through the setup and initial learning phase, we relied on online tutorials and collaborated to help each other.
As we move forward with our project, our goal is to deepen our understanding of these technologies and start integrating them into the development of our Route Guide website.
Week 8: March 3-7
This week, we focused on learning Figma as a team. Since some of our group members, including myself, were unfamiliar with the tool, we took the time to teach each other its features and how to use it effectively for our website design.
We also had our first consultation with our instructor, which was centered on our project paper since we had not yet started designing our website layout in Figma. During the consultation, our instructor provided valuable feedback, highlighting areas that needed improvement. As a result, we had to make several revisions and enhancements based on the comments we received.
Week 7: February 24-28
This week, we began working on Chapter 2: Review of Related Literature (RRL) for our project paper. To streamline the process, we divided the workload among our group members, assigning each person a specific topic or focus area to research. This approach allowed us to gather relevant studies efficiently and create a more comprehensive RRL.
In addition to our RRL, we had three activities to complete: a pair activity, the RRL itself, and working on the appendix section of our paper.
I was assigned to gather Appendix C of our project, in which I took a picture of the fare matrix of a local jeep that serves to us as an example of our following project.
Despite the multiple tasks and responsibilities, we successfully completed all activities on time. We ensured that our RRL included credible and relevant studies, making it a strong foundation for our research. Finishing these tasks ahead of the deadline gave us a sense of accomplishment and boosted our confidence as we continued progressing with our project development.

Week 6: February 17-21
This week, we completed Chapter 1 of our project paper. However, we have not yet revised, proofread, or finalized it, so we are unsure if it is ready for submission or if further edits are necessary. In the coming weeks, we plan to review and refine it to ensure its quality before finalizing.
Meanwhile, we have not yet started Chapter 2 due to the need to gather at least ten relevant studies related to our project. Finding credible and directly applicable sources requires significant time and effort, as these studies will provide background information and justification for our research. To ensure the strength of our literature review, we are prioritizing research and data collection before beginning the writing process.
Overall, this week was a mix of progress and challenges. While completing Chapter 1 was an achievement, there is still work to be done in refining it. Additionally, gathering sources for Chapter 2 remains a priority so we can move forward with our documentation. Despite these hurdles, we remain committed to steadily improving our project.
Week 5: February 10-14
This week, we began working on our project paper, focusing on Chapter 1 (Introduction) and Chapter 2 (Review of Related Literature - RRL). The Introduction provides an overview of our project, outlining its purpose, significance, and the issues it aims to address. Meanwhile, the RRL involves gathering relevant studies and sources to support our research and establish a strong foundation for our work.
We also started designing our website using Adobe XD, a tool for creating user interface layouts. However, after consulting our instructor, we learned that we were required to use Figma instead. As a result, we had to stop using Adobe XD and transition to Figma, which meant taking the time to familiarize ourselves with its features and functionalities. Despite the adjustment, we focused on adapting quickly to ensure a smooth design process.
Week 4: February 3-7
This week, we focused on planning the development of our Route Guide website, creating a structured roadmap to guide our progress. We decided to start with the design phase before moving on to development.
For the design, we chose Adobe XD as our primary tool to visualize the website’s layout and user interface before coding. We brainstormed different layout ideas, prioritizing a simple and intuitive navigation system to accommodate both daily commuters and first-time visitors. Our goal is to ensure that the website remains user-friendly and easy to navigate.
Once the design is finalized, we will proceed with frontend development, focusing on creating a responsive and visually appealing interface that adjusts smoothly across various screen sizes and devices. After completing the frontend, we will shift to backend development, which involves setting up the database, processing user queries, and implementing route-finding algorithms to deliver real-time commuting information accurately.
Throughout the week, we also discussed possible challenges, particularly ensuring the accuracy of route details. To address this, we plan to keep the workload manageable and conduct thorough testing while gathering user feedback to refine the system and improve its functionality.
