She had just found her sheet music and held it up with a grin when the doors opened back up and one of the most handsome men she’d ever seen before appeared. Her reaction nearly mirrored his and she accidentally dropped her sheet music all over the elevator. “Oh shoot!” She bends down to try and gather them.
Everett feels frozen in the moment as he locks eyes with her before their gaze breaks and he immediately jumps to action to help her, “I startled you, I’m so sorry. Let me help.”
Selene laughs, “I’m not usually scattered enough to let my stuff, well.. scatter.”
He chuckles softly and hands her the rest of the papers, glancing at it and notating the sheet music, “Are you going to BVR?”
She takes the papers and stands up, “Yeah, I record some background vocals from time to time.” She tries to get them back in order.
Everett smiles and reaches over to press the button to the floor, “I’ll be heading there myself.”
Selene raises her brows as she looks him up and down with a smile, “I’m guessing you’re not a recording artist?”
He chuckles and subtly fixes his hair, “No, no. I’m an entertainment lawyer.”
She smiles and nods, “Ohh very cool. I like people who protect those in this field.. well for most instances anyways.”
Everett laughs with a small shrug, “Well..thank you. Most of the time I’m just considered one of the suits, not nearly as interesting as the real artists.”
Selene giggles, “Well.. that may also be true. At least you’re nice to look at.” She smirks and steps out of the elevator when the doors open.
He raises a brow and grins as he follows her out, “I’ll take a compliment from a beautiful girl any day.”
She smiles widely at him over her shoulder, “Maybe I’ll see you around, suit.”
Everett smirks to himself and watches her walk away before he goes to try and find his office.
Later that day, Selene goes out with a couple of friends after she finishes her show that she performs in on broadway. She’s at the bar, waiting for her drink that she ordered.
After a rough day at work, he decides to get one drink at the bar near his office and watch the Knicks game before heading back home. He settles into his seat in the bar before he notices the woman from the elevator across the bar. He motions the bartender over and asks to pay for her order. The bartender brings over Selene’s order, “This has been paid by this man over there. He said it’s from suit…”
Selene raises her brows as she listens to the bartender and then grins, laughing softly as she hears him say it’s from suit. She looks over and spots Everett and grins before going to tell her friends she’s going to talk to someone. Selene goes over to him at the bar and smiles, “thanks for the drink, suit.”
Everett laughs softly and nods to her, “My friends call me Everett.”
She holds her hand out to him and grins, “Selene.”
He takes her hand and squeezes it gently as he shakes it, “That’s a beautiful name. Has anyone ever told you it fits you?”
Selene laughs softly, “Once you get to know me more, you won’t be surprised at me saying that it happens more often than you’d initially think.”
Everett raises his brows and sips his drink, “So you want me to get to know you more?”
She grins, “I’d say that the universe does, cause what are the odds that we run into each other twice in the same day?”
He chuckles and shrugs one shoulder, “New York is a smaller place than people think. Plus we both were in the building down the street.”
Selene grins, “Yes, but I left that building ages ago and did an entire Broadway show in the meantime. You look like you just got off of work and are stressed.”
Everett raises his brows and chuckles, “You did an entire Broadway show and look like that afterwards? I feel like an absolute oaf for looking stressed from a bunch of paperwork.”
She laughs and plays with the end of his tie, “but you don’t look like an oaf.”
He smirks and looks down at her hand, “I appreciate that. What show were you in?”
Selene smiles widely, “Moulin Rouge.”
Everett grins and sips his drink, “Great show.”
She grins, “you’ve seen it?”
He smiles shyly with a shrug, “I mean I like seeing Broadway shows. My guy friends wouldn’t exactly get it but I became an entertainment lawyer for a reason. No talent but respect the ones who do.”
Selene smiles even wider, “Glad to know that you don’t suffer from fragile masculinity.”
Everett sips his drink and chuckles, “Oh I’m sure I’m plenty stereotypical in other ways but I can’t help enjoying one of the many perks of living here.”
She sips her drink and smiles, “How long have you lived here for?”
He hums softly and shrugs, “Well I moved here after undergrad for law school so about 7-8 years.”
Her brows raise, “Wow, a long time then.”
Everett chuckles with a shrug, “I guess so. What about you?”
She smiles, “I’ve lived here for six years, but I lived across the river growing up.”
He raises his brows and hums, “So do you consider yourself a native?”
Selene laughs, “I’d love to but the New Yorkers can smell someone from Jersey saying that from a mile away and try to burn you at the stake for saying it.”
Everett chuckles and shakes his head, “Fair enough but you have all the real sports teams”
She puts her hand on her chest and grins, “Thank you for acknowledging that.”
He laughs and nods to the game above them, “Except for them.”
She laughs, “my team went to Brooklyn and then stopped existing.”
Everett clicks his tongue and shakes his head, “Damn. Must be tough.”
Selene shrugs and smiles, “It’s okay, the Knicks is who I was always rooting for anyways.” She sips her drink.
He chuckles and looks up at the game, “It’s pretty fun going to the games at MSG.”
She nods and smiles, “It is. Well, I should let you get back to watching the game.”
Everett shakes his head with a chuckle as he looks at her, “I was actually thinking how much I’d like to take you to a game sometime.”
Selene raises her brows and grins widely, “That would be very fun.”
He grins and sips his drink, “Can I have your number?”
She nods and smirks, holding her hand out for his phone.
Everett pulls his phone out and hands it to her.
Selene adds her phone number to his phone and makes her name Selene DreamGirl.
He smirks as he watches her, “Dream girl hm?”
She smirks and nods, handing him his phone back, “Yeah, may as well accept it now.”
Everett chuckles and nods his head, “I’ve accepted it, committed it to memory.”
Selene grins, “Smart man.”
He tucks his phone in his pocket and grins, “I don’t wanna keep you from your friends but I selfishly want to learn more about you.”
She smiles, “How about I give you until I finish my drink?”
Everett loosens his tie more and leans back in his seat with a grin, “Deal.”
Selene sits beside him and grins, “What’s your sign?”
He furrows his brows and laughs, “Uhhh, I’m not sure. My birthday is in February.”
She laughs, “Before or after the 19th?”
Everett hums and sips his drink, “The 11th.”
Selene smiles widely, “Ahh, a February Aquarius. You’re an air sign, like me.”
He shakes his head and smiles, “That’s it but I have no idea what any of it means.”
She laughs, “Hmm. I’ll have to give you a birth chart reading, it’ll blow your mind.”
Everett smiles and sips his drink, “Will you read it to me?”
Selene grins, “Already can’t get enough of the sound of my voice?”
He smiles and shrugs one shoulder, “I think you’ll make anything sound interesting.”
She hums and plays with the straw in her drink, “And what will I get in return?”
Everett quirks a brow and hums, “Need a contract looked over? Pro bono.”
Selene giggles, “Deal.”
He laughs and nods, “In addition to the Knicks game.”
She grins, “Well one is a date, the other is a service.”
Everett nods to her and smiles, “So reading my birth chart is a service?”
Selene laughs, “yessss, but I’m not charging you, obviously.”
He chuckles and knocks his knee against hers, “Oh thank you.”
She grins at him, “where do you live in the city?”
Everett smiles and sips his drink, “Upper east side. What about you?”
Her brows raise and she laughs, “oh so you’re rich rich. I’m in Greenwich Village.”
He flushes softly and rubs the back of his neck, “I mean not rich but I’m doing alright. Greenwich is fun.”
Selene grins, “How big is your place?”
Everett chuckles with a hum, “I mean not that big I guess but it has a nice view I will say that.”
She laughs, “I bet it does.”
He shrugs with a smile, “I was on the west side for a while during law school and first job out of school but moved a few months ago.”
Selene smiles at him, “Ohh, very nice. No roomies then?”
Everett shakes his head, “Not anymore. I had some before I moved, my buddies from school.”
She nods and smiles, “Lucky. Good for you, honestly. My last place, I used to have to walk through my roommate’s room to get to mine.”
He raises his brows and laughs, “Sounds like quite the awkward moment if they had someone over.”
Selene laughs and nods, “I bought noise cancelling headphones and would wear them every time I went through to be safe after the first walk in.”
Everett laughs and shakes his head, “Do you still have roommates?”
She nods and smiles, “I do. But it’s the biggest apartment I’ve ever been in.”
He smiles as he sips his drink, “That’s good. Hard to find space in this city.”
She nods her head with a soft laugh before sipping her drink.
Everett taps the rim of his glass and hums, “How long have you been performing?”
Selene laughs, “Since I was little, I started out on The Lion King.”
He raises his brows and grins, “Really? Wow..”
She smiles widely, “I’ve always loved singing and acting, the fact that we lived just a quick trip away made it so easy.”
Everett grins and leans his chin on his hand, “You must have some supportive parents.”
Selene smiles widely, “Single dad, he’s the best.”
He smiles with a nod, “Any siblings?”
She hums, “older ones by blood only, I don’t have a relationship with them.”
Everett nods as he finishes his drink, “So mostly just you and your dad?”
Selene nods and smiles, “Yeah. What about you?”
Everett smiles with a shrug, “Oh I have four.”
Her eyes widen, “Four? Wow! Let me guess where you are in the line up.” She hums as she thinks, “Middle.”
Everett laughs and nods his head, “How did you know?”
Selene grins, “Cause you’re handsome and charming but so far not cocky. You try to downplay your success…”
He laughs and shakes his head, “Oh I can be cocky but in my 29 years I’ve learned that’s probably best to save for the court room…or board room really. I don’t go to court very often.”
She laughs and tilts her head to the side, “it does seem necessary then.”
Everett smirks with a shrug, “But I also know I am handsome and charming.”
Selene giggles and takes a tiny sip of her drink.
He grins and moves his knee against hers gently, “What?”
She grins, “Just waiting for your handsome and charming self to make another move.”
Everett chuckles and leans closer to her as he lowers his voice and nods to her drink, “Thought I had a time limit.”
Selene picks up her glass and tilts it so the liquid moves around, “As you can see, I have been taking the tiniest sips and letting the melting ice refill my cup.”
He grins and moves his hand onto her leg as he leans closer, “Or you could just break your rule and let me buy you another drink.”
She leans in too and smirks, “Hmm and why should I do that?”
Everett gently rubs her thigh and smirks, “Well, because I’m handsome and charming of course.”
Sel taps her chin as she pretends to think and hums, “Surely there must be another reason.”
He moves his hand to gently put his hand over her wrist as he leans his face closer to hers and whispers, “Well I could give you another reason.”
She smirks and whispers back, “I’m listening.”
Everett leans forward and gently brushes his lips against hers.
Selene giggles against his lips and teasingly leans in so their lips touch more for a second before pulling back with a smirk.
He grins and tilts his head to the side, “God, you’ve got the softest lips, Selene.”
She grins, “Thank you..”
Everett brushes his thumb over her lower lip and grins.
Selene smiles and grazes her teeth over the pad of his thumb.
He makes a soft sound before moving his lips back to hers b
She makes a small sound of surprise before returning the kiss with a grin.
Everett kisses her gently and holds her chin.
Sel hums and moves her hand to his cheek. Her friends start to hoot and cheer for them from across the bar.
He chuckles and pulls back slightly.
She laughs and flips them off, shaking her head.
Everett grins and kisses her lightly once more, “I should let you get back to them.”
Selene returns the light kiss and then fights a laugh, “should.. but is it what you want??”
He chuckles and shakes his head, “No but I’m a gentleman.”
She hums and teases, “you sure? Cause you haven’t asked me what I want.”
Everett smirks and gently tucks her hair behind her ear, “Go on and tell me then.”
Selene smirks back at him, “I wanna see how big your place is, unless you don’t wanna miss a second of the Knicks game?” She slides down from her chair.
He watches her with a grin before he gets off the stool, “Well as I said, I’m a gentleman and I aim to please.”
She smiles, “I’m just going to tell my friends where I’m going. What’s your last name?”
Everett nods with a smile as he pulls out his phone, “Gillespie. Here, I’ll text you my Instagram.”
Selene grins, “Thank you.”
He sends his Instagram handle to her and nods, “I’ll meet you by the door?”
She nods and smiles, “Sounds good.” She goes over to her friends and gives them his name and Instagram handle and shares her location for safety before going to meet him by the door.
Everett grins as she approaches, “All good?”
Selene smiles and holds her hand out for his, “All good.”
He slips his fingers through hers and smirks, “Let’s go.”
She grins, “lead the way, suit.”
Everett chuckles and leads her out of the bar, “I called an uber while you talked to your friends.”
Selene smiles, “Efficient.”
He smiles and pulls her closer, bumping his nose against hers, “I thought so.”
She giggles and brushes her fingers of her freehand over his jaw.
Everett grins and gently kisses her.
Selene smiles against his lips as she returns the gentle kiss.
He hums and kisses her a little harder as he cups her chin.
She kisses him back deeply and pulls back after moment, “You gonna kick me out if I tell you I’m not looking to hook up?”
Everett shakes his head and chuckles, “No, besides we already have a date planned so I know I’m gonna see you again.”
Selene grins at him, “Good. Just making sure you weren’t scum of the earth.”
He laughs and kisses her temple as the car approaches them.
When the driver confirms he’s for them she smiles and opens the door for Everett, “After you.”
Everett laughs and raises his brows at her before sliding into the car.
Selene gets in with him and grins.
He chuckles and shakes his head, “You stole my move.”
She giggles and leans her chin on his shoulder, “It’s my move now.”
Everett grins at her and moves his hand onto her thigh, “You are mesmerizing.”
Selene smiles widely and moves her hand to unbutton the top couple of buttons of his shirt, “Thank you..”
He grins and looks down at her hand.
She grins at him, “That’s better.”
Everett smirks and rubs her thigh, “You wanted to see a little skin, huh?”
Selene smirks and lightly touches the part of his chest that’s now showing, “You just looked so confined.”
He leans his head back and grins, “Being a suit does that to people.”
She grins and presses a soft kiss to his jaw.
Everett tilts his head to the side and grins as he rubs her thigh.
Selene hums and skims her lips over his stubble with a grin.
He smirks and chuckles softly.
She grins and kisses his cheek.
Everett chuckles and turns his head to kiss her.
Sel smiles as she kisses him back.
He squeezes her thigh and hums against her lips.
She rubs his chest gently as she kisses him slowly.
Everett moves his free hand to the back of her head as he smiles into the kiss.
Selene grins as she feels his smile.
He flicks his tongue against her lower lip teasingly before pulling back as the car stops, “We’re here.”
She makes a small noise and grins before getting out of the car.
Everett grins and follows her out of the car, putting his hand on her back as he leads her towards his building.
Selene smiles as she walks with him.
He leads her into his building and nods to the door man before he hits the button for the elevator.
She grins, “Wow, a door man.”
Everett shrugs with a chuckle, “Suits can get you those.”
Selene grins and playfully tugs on his tie.
He smirks and leads her into the elevator, “Aww look, I can do what I wanted to the moment I saw you in that elevator.”
She smirks at him, “And what’s that?”
Everett cups her cheek and leans down to kiss her deeply.
Selene makes a small noise and kisses him just as deeply, bringing her arms around his neck.
He kisses her deeply and presses her back against the wall of the elevator.
She gasps softly and kisses him just as deeply.
Everett slides her hand down to her neck and makes a soft sound against her lips.
Selene whimpers and grips the back of his jacket.
He slows the kiss and hums softly as he cups her neck.
She makes a small noise into the kiss.
Everett grins as he pulls back slowly when the elevator stops on his floor.
Selene grins and nudges her nose against his, “Lead the way.”
He chuckles with a nod as he wraps his arm around her waist and leads her down the hall to his apartment.
She smirks, “you’ve been wanting to kiss me like that since you first saw me?”
Everett chuckles as he lets go of her to unlock the door, “Yeah..I mean you are gorgeous, Selene.”
She grins shyly, “Thank you..”
He grins back at her before opening the door and leading her inside.
Selene looks around with a smile and then laughs, “Downplays success just really gets to be a recurring theme.”
Everett shakes his head and laughs, “It’s still a one bedroom!”
She starts to walk around and take everything in, “that’s nicely decorated and spacious!”
He chuckles with a smile as he undoes his tie, “Make yourself at home, want anything to drink or eat?”
Selene sits on the couch and smiles, “are you gonna have anything?”
Everett nods as he rolls up the sleeves of his shirt, “Water or wine or beer?”
She smiles, “I’ll take a beer.”
He nods and gets them both a bottle, popping the tops off before meeting her at the couch.
Selene grins at him as he comes over, “Thank you.”
Everett hands her the bottle and grins as he lightly clinks his against hers, “You’re welcome.”
She sips her beer and then smiles at him, “Tell me more about you, do you have hobbies?”
He hums softly and sips his beer, “Well I like music obviously but I’m god awful at it so mostly just listening or going to shows. My buddies and I play basketball here and there to catch up since we are all so busy.”
Selene nods her head and smiles, “awww so you guys go to the park to ball?”
Everett chuckles and nods his head, “That’s one way to put it.”
She grins at him, “What’s your preferred way to listen to music?”
He nods to his console on the other side of the couch, “I have a ton of vinyls. Some were my dads so I have a pretty big collection of vintage ones.”
Her eyes brighten and she grins, “I so hoped you’d say that.”
Everett chuckles and stands, holding his hand out to her, “I’ll show you.”
Sel takes his hand as she gets up with a smile.
He takes her over to the large collection with his set up for the music.
She raises her brows as she takes it all in and grins, “Wow!”
Everett chuckles with a smile, “Pick one, I’ll put it on.”
Selene hums as she looks through before picking up Rumours by Fleetwood Mac, “ugh and it’s vintage!” She smells the album.
He laughs and sips his beer, “Yeah, my mom especially loves Fleetwood.”
She grins and hands it over, “good taste, Mom.”
Everett laughs and sets his bottle down as he sets up the record player, gently sets the arm on the vinyl.
Selene smiles, “actually, can you set it on Dreams?”
He raises his brows and laughs as he lifts the tonearm and moves it to Dreams.
She grins and starts to dance as the song starts.
Everett chuckles and takes her hand to spin her around.
Selene giggles happily as she spins and she dances with him.
He chuckles and pulls her close as he sways with her.
She grins widely as they sway and she looks into his eyes, “If you had been wanting to kiss me since the elevator, what do you think you would’ve done if we hadn’t run into each other tonight?”
Everett laugh with a shrug, “Kick myself for not saying anything and hoping I’d run into you on the elevator again.”
Selene laughs, “Oh you’d need fate on your side for that.”
He shrugs with a grin, “I don’t know about fate but I’d be calculated and show up at the same time.”
She giggles, “But I wouldn’t. Plus, fate already intervened.”
Everett chuckles and rubs her sides, “I guess I don’t know if I believe in fate.”
She grins at him, “You will.”
Everett tilts his head to the side as he pulls back and twirls her, “You’re so sure.”
Selene twirls and grins up at him as she moves back to him, “I am. You’ll see.”
He grins and nods his head, “I’ll take your word for it, Miss.”
She laughs and presses herself closer to him, “Miss?”
Everett smiles with a nod as he brushes his hand along her back, “You heard me.”
Selene grins and looks into his eyes, “that’s a little formal for a girl you made out with in an elevator.”
He skims his nose over hers with a grin, “Perhaps but maybe I’m a little formal sometimes.”
She laughs, “you don’t need to be a suit when you’re with me.”
Everett hums and slides his hand lower on her back, “Is that right?”
Sel nods and smirks as her lips move over his, “I like seeing you unbuttoned.”
He hums against her lips and pushes her body closer to his, “I can always unbutton more.”
She brings one of her arms around his neck, “and take the privilege away from me?”
Everett chuckles softly before he kisses her gently.
Selene smiles as she returns the kiss.
He kisses her slowly as he continues to sway with her.
She tilts her head into the kiss as she kisses him just as slowly, her freehand unbuttoning his shirt a little more.
Everett hums softly and flattens his hand against her back.
Selene moves her fingers through his chest hair slowly.
He makes a soft sound as he slowly deepens the kiss.
She kisses him just as deeply and runs her tongue over his bottom lip.
Everett slides his free hand onto the back of her head as he parts his lips for her.
Selene moves her tongue slowly over his and keeps her hand on his bare chest.
He gently moves his tongue against hers and slides his free hand to her lower back.
She makes a small noise and lightly sucks on his tongue.
Everett grips the fabric on her back as he groans softly into the kiss.
Selene moves her hand off of his chest and takes his hand that’s on her back and slides it down to her ass as she kisses him harder.
He chuckles against her lips and grips her ass as he kisses her back just as hard.

Selene grins and her cheeks heat up, “I bet you do.”
Everett strokes her cheek and grins as he nods to the vinyl, “The side ended.”
She smiles widely and nods, “that’s okay,”
He chuckles and kisses her jaw down to her neck.
Sel tilts her head to the side and grins.
Everett smirks and gently nips behind her ear as he squeezes her bottom, “Am I unbuttoned enough for you?”
She smirks and pulls back to look down at his chest, “Hmm.. for now.”
He chuckles and nudges his nose against hers.
Selene grins at him, “I wanna know more about you. Besides that you find me attractive and are a very good kisser.”
Everett slides his hands over her sides and hums, “Ask me anything.”
She hums, “what was your last relationship?”
He chuckles and hums softly, “About a year ago.”
Selene nods, “Was it serious?”
Everett shrugs with a smile, “We’d been together for a couple years but felt like we were going through the motions.”
She hums, “and you’ve been living up bachelor life since?”
He nods with a chuckle as he rubs her sides, “I guess so.”
Selene playfully sighs, “And then you ran into me and I’m about to ruin it all for you.”
Everett chuckles and raises his brows, “I’d be pretty okay with you ruining me.”
She smirks, “I think that’s the sexiest thing a man has ever said to me.”
He grins and slides his hands down to her bottom again, “Well, you are probably the sexiest woman I’ve had in my arms.”
Selene grins widely, “Wanna know what I thought when you opened the elevator doors?”
Everett nods with a smile, “Tell me.”
She grins, “When I saw you standing there, grinning to yourself and then realizing that I was there, I thought, ‘the hottest man I’ve ever seen just appeared in front me’. It’s why I dropped my sheet music.”
He smirks and holds her closer as he sways with her again, “Bet you didn’t expect this.”
Selene giggles, “I didn’t.”
Everett chuckles and rubs her side, “Your turn. Tell me about your last relationship.”
She shrugs and smiles, “Had a girlfriend of six months, she was a..” she pauses and rolls her eyes, “gold star lesbian. And she kept accusing me of having wandering eyes when I would talk to men, and it got to be so toxic.”
He raises his brows and nods his head, “Yeah, doesn’t sound healthy.”
Selene nods, “I love to talk and meet new people and she kept thinking I was flirting when I was just being me.”
Everett rubs her sides and hums, “Can’t say I blame her for being jealous of anyone else getting your attention.”
She laughs, “I just need someone who feels secure and have confidence in me.”
He hums softly and nods, “Trust is your number one?”
Selene nods and smiles, “Absolutely. I am loyal, I’ve never cheated or thought about it, but if you can’t handle an extrovert then I’m not your girl.”
Everett shrugs with a smile, “I think your confidence is one of the sexiest things about you.”
She grins and kisses him softly.
He returns the kiss and pulls her flush against him.
She makes a small noise and kisses him harder.
Everett slides his hands back down to her bottom and hums against her lips.
Selene whimpers into the kiss.
He grins into the kiss and gently tugs on her lower lip.
She whines softly and pulls back with a smirk, “I’m trying to behave and you’re making it very hard.”
Everett chuckles and shrugs one shoulder, “I’m not sorry.”
Selene giggles and she pulls back, “Okay, show me your room.”
