[ SIP ]: sender and receiver play drinking games (not necessarily using alcohol! just a drink of choice) together (e.g. never have i ever, where one person says something they’ve never done before, and the other drinks if they have done it, or doesn’t if they haven’t).
"Well shit, now I know why I didn't even go to my own senior prom. This is tacky as hell." Yeah, he knew it was a bit hypocritical, considering he had definitely gone to Junior Prom. Been, shocker, crowned Prom King. He just hadn't gone to his Senior Prom, because him and Nancy had broken up, and he felt like there was no point. He had lost the crown of 'King Steve', and with it his friends and his popularity. He didn't want to be reminded of all of that by standing in the corner of the crowded gymnasium.
Now here he was, years later.....standing in the corner of the crowded gymnasium. He hadn't been surprised when Dustin had asked if he would be willing to be one of the chaperones. It was a mix of teachers and parents, and he supposed that he was as much a parent to a chunk of these kids than anything. He didn't really want anything that reminded him of his 'glory days' at Hawkins High, but for Henderson? He would do anything.
Apparently, so would Eddie Munson, because the last person that he figured would be caught dead at a social function like this was that man. They had both aged in the past few years, Steve smiling and moving over to the other, nudging him with his hip. "Didn't think I'd ever see you at something like this." Steve smirked, adjusting his glasses onto his nose because yeah, he needed to wear them a lot more now. The damage he had endured had apparently been worse than he had thought, and it only got worse with age.
Steve nodded to the punch bowl, which he had ironically been standing around most of the night. It was where the 'losers' had always stood at past proms, he knew that much, but he just wanted to be out of the spotlight in any way possible. He just wanted to make sure Dustin and his friends were having a good time, and that was that. "Want a drink? Maybe if we get lucky, one of the kids will have spiked it. Don't tell any of the other chaperones I said that, though."
