Bamboos are a diverse group of mostly evergreen perennial flowering plants. You might think they are trees since they grow very tall. But they are actually grass, and giant bamboos are the largest members of the grass family.
Bamboos are the fastest growing land plant in the world - some species can grow about one inch every 40 minutes.
The Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto, Japan is a very popular tourist spot. These days, you probably will not get alone moment in the bamboo grove, as pictured in this hand-colored lantern slide.
