Chunli would approach Lalu while holding her "complementary" oval shaped red lantern, offering it to them.
"Happy Lantern Rite! I'm Chūnlì, the host of this festival. Thank you so much for taking your time to join, it really makes me happy! I hope you didn't face any trouble coming here, I know getting into a isolated island can be quite challenging... Say, what are you looking forward to? I will do my best as a host to make your visit worth! "
Lalu gratefully accepts the lantern and returns the gift with a delighted smile. Inspecting the lantern further, the craftsmanship was clear to see.
"this is incredibly well made, thank you so much miss!!! my compliments to the craftsperson! and thank you for the invite, i wouldn't dream of missing this after such a lovely letter!!"
Although their dress was still visibly damp from their unintentional deep sea dive, this surprise gift and the privilege of meeting the host was more than enough to erase any grief about their travels. They quickly erased their white board to begin answering Chūnlì's question.
"i feel honored for your interest—just getting to be here, meet you and everyone, and experience the island has been worthwhile enough!"
but to be honest, i'm most looking forward to when the 'lanterns illuminate the night sky' from the letter! i've only ever read stories of it!!! that's nothing to say of the performances or the food or games or lantern making or..."
The list of festivities continues on, words getting smaller and smaller while barely fitting in the margins of the white board.
