Thank you for responding, and agreed with most of what you said! And at least re: koxinga/zheng chenggong, the most well-known eng language book that speaks a lot about his history is Lost Colony by Tonio Andrade, though generally searching 'koxinga' on jstor can turn up a lot of articles on him as well. Records of the Three Kingdom is good for FSR Archer and any 3guo/3 kingdoms era China figures, though I've still been searching for a copy of that one. (I've made a lot of,,, ro3k jokes regarding fsr archer with other people familiar with 3guo figures lmao, mainly how pissed he'd be at luo guanzhong (ro3k author) for making up an ahistorical rivalry where he got the short end of the stick and probably cursed with blood cough syndrome like a cdrama antagonist around kongming). Anyway yeah! There's definitely a lot of tragedy parallels between them (though the more I read about koxinga the more I thought he had similar parallels with another fsr character that's not really talked about...but that's another tangent ahaha) and it's nice to see FSR did their histories justice.
(also honestly at this point summonable zheng chenggong Should be a thing sooner or later, since for better or for worse, his actions Did have a massive impact on east asian geopolitics for centuries to come,,)
THIS HAS BEEN SITTING FOR SO LONG IM SORRY it’s been such a crazy few weeks I’ve been so insanely busy
But thank you for the recs !! You are so right and I agree that we absolutely need summonable zheng chenggong like I’m begging,,,,
