I do have to admit, even though I am in a beginner learning class, I feel so far behind everyone else. A lot of people in my class have already studied Japanese in highschool, so they already know all the basics. This would be okay, except the teacher moves on quite fast when pretty much the whole class is answering the questions to things we shouldn't really know...
Even just things like hiragana and katakana. I am still not familiar with the characters, but because 70% of the class is because they did it in highschool, the teacher treats everyone like they know it too.
It is the absolute worst when it comes to peer activities where you have to speak to someone else, I feel so terrible when I get partnered with someone who is ahead of me, because they don't get to practice, and I am forced to tell them "I'm sorry, I'm just not at that level." It's embarrassing.
I have left class so many times to cry in the bathroom because I am so embarrassed and feel so horrible and so stupid. I have been meaning to speak to the teacher about also not calling me out in class to answer things, because I have anxiety and I still can't read the kana, so everytime I answer I'm wrong. This happens to no one else in the class...
sorry to rant, but does anyone else feel like this? or are you all the people who already know everything... because I feel so unbelievably alone.
