May I please hear your Mocktropica headcanons?
Absolutely!! I have quite literally hundreds but I'll try and filter them down into the most relevant ones.
Prior to the "executives" taking over, The World Wide Headquarters used to scout out bright university students from all over poptropica (especially game show island) and offer them internships working for literally, poptropica itself.
Mark Hertz was one of these interns turned full-time employees. He won Game Show Island the year after the player did with his bot 'Watson', who was the first robot (not counting the player bc they're a poptropican) to beat Holmes in DECADES. This is what made him so appealing to Billy Jordan who insisted on having him join the programming department.
Billy Jordan, Lance Pitcher and Max McPatrick were the head of their respective departments, and pretty much had a The Office vibe going on throughout the entire thing.
The island? It literally only consists of the Headquarters, the university, the dairy farm, the cheese factory, that cafe, that trench and the mountain. There is absolutely nothing else out there. (If the location existed irl, it would be smack bam in the middle of the Netherlands)
Lance Pitcher paid his way through university doing furry art commissions on devaintart in the early 2000's until he eventually found himself at The world wide Headquarters.
There is a link between The World Wide Headquarters and the time agency in Mystery of the Map!! (I forgot the name hnsggsggg pls forgive me) I know both stories present very different takes on the lore but,,, they're linked,,, and the time agency was forced to become a completely separate branch and pretty much forfeit all connection to the world wide headquaters after the incident ^tm (which may have something to do with Octavian is a rejected mc theory 😳😳😳 you guys should totally check that theory out im obsessed-)
Mark Hertz worked full-time at TWWH for about 3 months before it was bought out by the Excutives, however during those months he was pretty much used a coffee boy for the programming department. So when they offered him a uh, """promotion""" he was easily manipulated into talking it.
He sold the jet plane he won on game show island and invested ALL of the money on Mega Fighting Bots.
The Excutives are literally. 100% unironically extreme capitalist who are impossibly chaotic. I like to imagine as much as they hate each other they kinda have a found family dynamic going on,,, and that all they have is eachother,,, but the only thing they have in common is being money-driven nd that's enough for them :,)
Also Billy, Lance & Max kinda have a similar found family thing :,))) and Billy was like a father figure to Mark which is why it took the excutives convincing him that the man couldn't care less abt him to finally make the switch ("He shipped you over from game show to do what? make coffee? you're no different from the x amount of other employees to him. But that's not what we see.") when it couldn't be further from the truth.
I'm also highkey obsessed with MTBI's so my hcs for theirs are;
The Focus Tester is an ENFP, The Safety Inspector is an ISTJ, The Ad Sales Lady is an ESFJ, The Cost Cutter is an INTP, Billy Jordan is an INTJ, Lance Pitcher is an INFJ, Max McPatrick is an ISTP, and Mark Hertz is an ISFP.
Also idk if many people care but i also have many age hcs,,,
The Focus Tester is 58, The Safety Inspector is 27, The Ad Sales Lady is 38, The Cost Cutter is 30, Billy Jordan is an 55, Lance Pitcher is 34, Max McPatrick is 49, and Mark Hertz is like 22.
Steamworks Island was an abandoned project that was accidentally released and they just kinda. never did anything about it bc they wanted to see what would happen.
The Excutives don't have any ((braincells)) experience whatsoever in game development but they're HUGE weebs (especially for 80's mecha anime) which violently contrasts with literally everything else about them. ("what a great day of oppressing 99% of the population time to watch some neon genesis evangelion")
To conclude, HNAGAHSHSHAJAMSKEIJSHZGABWNEHGS I LOVE THIS ISLAND SO MUCHHH I HAD TO FORCE MYSELF TO STOP THERE. A A A A
