Hii
I saw your Li Bai and Alessio fanfic and I was wondering if you'd write a one shot or something similar for lam
After seeing the hearts of kings post for Lamm I've been dying for Lam fics but unfortunately Tumblr isn't the place to look for them š¢
I'm not sure if your requests are open atm so apologies if they aren't!! (Do you have a masterlist by any chance btw?š)
A very human monster...ę
Hello! Honestly this is my first request overall. That excited me so much that as soon as I read your message I started to write nonstop ^^. It is not the best One-Shot, but I hope you like it and enjoy reading it as much as I did when writing it.ā”
Anddd... I clarify again that English is not my first language, so an apology if something is misspelled, I hope it doesn't affect your experience with the One-shot. (Btw, I do not hace a Masterlist, but I always happy to write ^^, so feel free to ask if you want another character or a second part of the One-shot).
Note: I use They/Them pronouns-(I think I'd use them a lot) and Y/N mention as your name.
Few things could affect the Kingdom Capital of Wei, the city of Ye at that time, for nothing won over the constant wars they faced day after day. where those lucky to live had nothing left but a carmine red panorama and corpses on the ground. And above all, a vacuum in the stomach thinking about when would be the next fight to be fought...
And among those āluckyā was Lam, a murderer whom the people around him had been in charge of dehumanizing since his childhood, someone lonely to such an extent that the dead kept him more company than the living. His master, Cao Cao, had told him on more than one occasion a phrase that would accompany him in every fight to face.
If being human is going to stop you from unleashing your full potential, then is it really worth being one?...
A young Lam listened to it with his head down back then, resigned to the fact that he would be nothing more than a monster with bloodstained hands to anyone who saw him.
And that young Lam grew up clinging to that teaching, until he became a barely adult and related to the term "human"... but, Lam forgot a very important detail, that no matter all the effort that makes him forget his humanity. Deep down, he is still so capable of feeling, crying, getting angry, rejoicingā¦And loving as one.
And he realized that in one of his many requests, the penultimate before abandoning his life as a murderer to be specific.
His goal? A famous blacksmith from the city of Wu, had obtained a high-value material for the order of a high-ranking nobleman, and had become a problem with no opportunity to ignore if he completed his order. Lam, as usual observed before attacking, realized that he had to be in his late 50's, and that he had family, a wifeā¦And you, his son/daughter. A skilled user ofā¦(Insert ability or weapon of your preference), and of a similar age to his.
Lam felt something very similar to grief seeing that someone who seemed⦠innocent would have to disappear It did not seem that the man had committed any crime or deserved to die.
Butā¦orders were orders, right?...
Days passed until Lam decided to act one night, a peaceful and silent one in particular, those that keep you alert and with a bad feeling. And for Y/N it was no exception, who could not fall asleep even if they was going around in bed. After several minutes trying to rest, they gave up and decided to leave they room in search of tired they mind a little more.
Y/N walked around the small but cozy house, thinking about various mundane things. Until they heard it, a crack on one of the wooden soles of the ceiling, they stood still for a few seconds and then heard another crack farther away, followed by another and another⦠Were there any animal on the ceiling?
They doubts dissipated as soon as they heard the sound of a window when it was opened, and not any window, but the one that overlooked the room of they're father, who slept only that night because his wife had gone on a trip for family matters.
With concern, Y/N took anything within they power that could help them if he was a thief. Standing in front of the door, they felt a rush of adrenaline when they did not know what they could see on the other side. They took the knob carefully and opened the door slowly.
...
For Lam, whom the deadline to finalize his order was already stepping on his heels, decided to act that night calmly, a perfect moment for a silent death and without any trace of evidence... Or so he thought, as we entered the room and approached what he believed was the slumberās sleeping body. The tip of a wooden cane passed him by touching the jugular.
His reflexes did his job and he had dodged the blow with the grace of a hunter. But definitely, he didnāt expect to see the blacksmithās son/daughter in an attacking position, and what Lam perceived, willing to cancel his workā¦
But, if something did not like the killer, it was to spend energy on others that were not his goal. So he just looked at his āopponentā with the default coldness of his gaze before holding them by his arm and seeking to remove the cane from they're hands. Y/N began struggling to avoid losing they're only available resource to fightā¦Or the only one they had found reasonable for they're lack of sleep.
Lam was not looking to hurt them much less, he did not want more burdens than he already had, but it was inevitable to do something because Y/N was raising they're voice more and more... And soon his goal would not be sleeping anymore. His body acted faster than his mind, with one arm he drew Y/N pushing them out of the room and with his free arm hand he covered they're mouth to prevent them from making more noise.
Y/N made they best effort to prevent that from happening and to manage to alert his father to everything, which was useless because he was still sleeping immobile in his bed...
Already outside the room, in the hallway, was where Lam released Y/N from his grip, locking the door to prevent it from ruining his mission again.
Lam spoke in a low, dry tone, as if he hadn't spoken a word for a good number of hours. "I recommend that you do not waste energy. I'm going to complete my work at any cost."
Y/N frowned at the sharp tone of the assassinās voice. They screamed at him, raising they voice. āAnd youāre too wrong if you think Iām going to allow you to steal or do something to my father!ā They took a pause before looking at him with they're eyes narrowed, as if they were examining him in the darkness. āWhat owes you? Money? Did he refuse you a job?ā
Lam was silent, analyzing his responses before acting or proceeding with it. He thought about leaving them unconscious, getting rid of everything fast. But to see that determination in every attempt by Y/N to get rid of him, slowly began to give him even more grief⦠Why had his teacher demanded that he murder a poor man who only did his job?
Seeing no response from the man who had trapped them, Y/N struggled with more force managing to let go of him for a few seconds and try to hit him with the wooden stick on his head. Lam dodged it again, intercepted the cane and threw it away easily.
āGive up, you make this harder than it is, I donāt think-ā Lam was abruptly interrupted by another coup attempt by Y/N, that made him back another little bit inside himselfā¦They was just a son/daughter looking to defend his father. And he respected that somehow.
For Lam, who had always been an orphan and never had anything close to a āfamily,ā he couldnāt sympathize with the personās feelings in front of himā¦but he respected the idea of protecting those you cherish, and that was making his job more difficult.
Y/N, still did not give in, they was still struggling with all they strength to get rid of Lam, to prevent that stranger from getting his job. But little by little they was losing strength, the adrenaline rush had already gone for several minutes, they're body and mind were struggling for a lucidity at the expense of darkness. When the grip that held them captive completely gave way, they stopped suddenly to see the young man stubbornly.
Lam, feeling the change in Y/N soon explained. āI hate incomplete jobsā¦ā He took another pause to sigh, went back a few steps to give it space. āBut I hate even more killing without a real motiveā¦And this time, I donāt know why I was sent to kill your father.ā
Y/N did not let they're guard down, did not have the cane at hand, but the tension had definitely begun to leave they're body slowly. āWho asked you to kill my father?ā They asked with disdain.
Lam looked away with a debate between indifference and sorrow. āI canāt reveal itā Y/N was about to question Lam again, but he decided to continue his dialog. āBut, I would lie if I said I want to continue with thisā¦ā
Without warning, Lam walked away even more abruptly, and just as quickly as a shadow, the Assassin had already withdrawn from the place without leaving a markā¦Y/N blinking perplexed at the situation. Did that mean that they father would be safe?... Or that man would return to finish his request?
After that event, Y/N spent several nights in sail, staying alert and watching they're father, whom they warned of the situation, but little more remained in his response. A week after that event, in the window of Y/N's room had arrived a letter with a mini bag. The letter was brief and concise, with a firm letter but it was noticeable that its issuer had no experience in calligraphyā¦
Hello.
An apology for what happened...
Rest assured that we will see each other again.
By way of apology I give you something symbolic.
-Lam.
Lam?...Y/N came to the conclusion that that was the name of last night's hired killer. When opening the small bag, they found a small keychain of a shark carved in stone. This last data greatly surprised Y/N, who only wondered for themselves. āIsnāt it easier to carve in wood?...ā
What Y/N did not know, was that Lam himself observed from a nearby hiding place the entire interaction, something similar to a smile formed on his lips when he saw them examine the small keychain.
Might not have been the best first encounterā¦but Lam would definitely stay in Wu City for an indefinite time, and it was clear, it was not for the blacksmithā¦
And that's the end...I hope u liked this One-shot <3
