so yeAH i got way further in this chapter and decided it was becoming too unwieldy, so cleaned up the first 12-13k and rolled the latter 4k into the next chapter. i knew i was close enough to put at least that first bit up! so this morning i was just like, okay i’ll do it (instead of the work i was meant to be doing) 🥴
fun fact - i watched mary woodvine in a special live soundtrack screening of her film enys men last week! i’m like 30% sure mary was present somewhere but i got anxious and went straight home 🫠 anyway it was magical to see her on the big screen in a nice venue in central london and might have contributed to getting this out a bit faster
ALSO for anyone witnessing this who wants to get in on the excitement - portrait of a witch is a multichapter fic for constance hardbroom and lynne lamplighter, in which lynne is an artist commissioned to do constance’s portrait. constance is (predictably) a reluctant subject and lynne just wants to get to know her 😭 and you can guess what ensues. i checked recently and it’s longer than all the lampbroom fics put together (not hard but still 😭). link to latest chapter here

Your fic Portrait of a Witch has changed my life and also made me OBSESSED with Constance / Lynne as a ship. Which is THE WORST bc there are only 5 fics total in the whole tag like omg why have you done this to me? Did I need another rarepair to become obsessed with??? (The answer is no but I am resigned to my fate) anyways your fic is amazing and i love it<3
HONESTLY why did i do this to MYSELF??? getting this invested in a ship that has a siNGLE episode and with an actress who is in barely anything else with similar hair at the same age.
good news is that i've been working on the update for the fic - i know i left it in the most trashy place possible and i'm so sorry. there are some annoying bits to work out still but hopefully soooon (in the month of october at least is my goal!)

i know i've been slower with lampbroom fic updates but i hope this chapter makes up for it!
i just think it's interesting that when icy stevens touches constance's arm, she reacts coolly and in control and yeets him from his chair
but when lynne lamplighter touches her shoulder she loses her shit entirely
and then undergoes a fundamental change that makes her start taking art seriously
much to think about 🤔
