Grandma's Antique China Lamp Gets A French Country Makeover

A Vintage Lamp Gets A French Country Makeover With Some Paint, Fabric and Creativity

Happy New Year Everyone! Today I thought I would start the new year off with a little before and after story. I bought this vintage china lamp a while ago. It had a home in my living room for a little while. I am sure you have seen this type of lamp, especially if you are a flea market junkie, or perhaps at Grandma’s house.

I like to change out my decor quite often and purchased a set of mercury glass lamps that I fell in love with for my living room so I decided to give this vintage lamp a makeover. I started out by giving the lamp base a coat of glossy black paint.

The fabric lampshade was new but the burgundy color was just blah. I decided to try painting it instead of tossing it away. The fabric soaked up a lot of paint but the result was worth it. I found that watering the paint down a little bit helped quite a bit.

To really give this lamp a touch of elegance and Country French style, I added panels of black and white toile fabric to the  shade trimmed with black gimp. The process took a lot of time and effort but love the finished look.

And here it is all finished…..

Before and After:

Who doesn’t love a good before and after story? Grandma wouldn’t recognize her old lamp! Just about anything old and outdated can be brought back to life with a simple coat of paint and some creativity.

This beautiful French Country Lamp is now waiting for a new home and can be purchased here. This lamp makeover was a fun project to do. I love the black and white toile. It really adds a touch of class to it!

A Lamp Makeover That'll Give You Something To Crow About

A Drab To Fab Country Lamp Makeover

Hello Friends,

Today’s before and after story is one for the birds! A few months ago I found this 1980’s Country Rooster Table Lamp looking outdated, sad and pitiful.

I love just about anything that has to do with Roosters or Chickens and have incorporated them into my kitchen and dining room. When I saw this fowl lamp I knew I could give it new life, scooped it up and brought it home. The rooster base was actually ok and could have stayed “as is” but I had something else in mind for him

The stenciled lampshade just screamed late 1980’s to early 90’s Cutesy Country and had to go.

I replaced the old lampshade with a brand new burlap shade. I embellished the shade with new stenciled roosters and some freehand Country inspired words.

Mr. Rooster got a few fresh coats of white paint and this lamp makeover was complete!

With just a few coats of paint and some creativity this vintage lamp makeover was easy peasy and wow what a difference! With so much waste in this world I am so happy to be able to breathe new life into old pieces that may end up in a landfill someday. This Redesigned Rooster Lamp is now perfect for a farmhouse kitchen or even a french country style room and can be purchased here.
