Time to try(tri)!
I've been in a slump. I wasn't able to run the long beach marathon; a vicious stomach flu decided to promptly arrive the Friday night before my race. I was able to hold foods by the Saturday but felt like a college freshman, too hungover ( dehydrated) to function. Luckily for me, my great friend took my bib and ran in my place. It was her first marathon, so I was excited for her and excited that my bib wouldn't go to waste. My friend Jaime was also running her first marathon. I was happy to experience my first marathon as a spectator and was elated when both of my friends crossed the finish line. BUT to say that I didn't feel a twinge of sadness when my name was called as my friend finished a race that I should have been racing, would be a lie. Today I will leave that behind me and accept that long beach was not meant to be. Though, it would have been nice to run in 70 degree weather vs the 90+ temperatures I ran with during the LA marathon. Today I Tri! Or rather, reverse tri! I will hopefully complete my first sprint triathlon today! I taught myself to swim for this very reason. I was ashamed that I never fully learned the beauty of knowing to swim till' about a year ago. But with the help of YouTube anything is possible, even a triathlon.
