First     Prev     Next “Your friend, the other guy who knew, did he try to help you?” Chat Noir asked.

“I don’t know if he was back then. Anytime I looked to him for help he’d have this look on his face that begged me to leave it alone. That or he would look down. I tried to talk to my best friend at the time and she-” Marinette paused. Her and Alya had been through thick and thin since the moment they met. She was Marinette’s voice of reason when she started to freak out. Marinette cleared her throat, and let the tears that had been pooling in her eyes fall. “She didn’t listen to me.” Marinette wiped her cheeks as she continued. “After that I decided that I didn’t care if anyone else listened to me. I knew I was right and eventually Lila would get caught in her lies.”

“Ladybu- Marinette. I should have noticed, I should have-” Chat Noir started to say.

“How could you have known, Chaton?” Marinette said softly, blinking more tears out of her eyes. “It’s not like we go to the same school. And even if we did, I’m pretty good at wearing a mask.” She smiled at her own little joke.

“I don’t think this is really a laughing matter.” Chat Noir said.

“Maybe not.” Marinette picked at one of the rolls. “But I needed to lighten the mood a little.” They ate for a few minutes before the silence got too loud.

“So, what happened after ah- your friend didn’t believe you?”

“I was assigned to a seat in the back of the classroom and I just kinda stayed there. Got there early and I took my time leaving so I didn’t have to pass by anyone. I got detention a couple of times because I wasn’t paying attention. After the first two or three weeks the teachers figured it wasn’t doing any good to give me detention and just let me be. It’s all kind of a haze. I just remember being hurt and angry in class all the time before I became kind of numb to it all.” Chat Noir furrowed his eyebrows and his ears drooped as he thought.

“Did you try to talk to anyone about it?”

“I didn’t know who I could go to. The guy didn’t want to do anything, my classmates wouldn’t believe me, and if I went to my teachers or parents they’d try to have me and Lila talk it out and that wouldn’t go well for me. And I mean, she had threatened to do exactly this to me. I had just hoped that my classmates would know better.” Chat Noir froze. “Besides, it’s not like I completely went back into my shell this time.” Marinette started rambling. “And Tikki was there and she was able to talk me out of some of my fits and-”

“How long did you wait before you talked to me about it?” She didn’t know how to answer. He sounded like he was somewhere between gently prodding her for more info, angry about something she couldn’t quite place, and too concerned for her liking. “Marinette.” It was the urgency that scared her. “How long did you wait?” Marinette took a shaky breath.

Ruby: *sighing* After everything she did?

Blake: Maybe Yang’s right and she's changed.

Ruby: I… dont know…

Blake: *moving over to Ruby and hugging her* How about this: tomorrow, we'll talk with Emerald. Really talk with her and figure out what's going on.

Ruby: *nodding* I can deal with that.

Blake: Good. Now, let's both get some rest.

Ruby: *kissing Blake and pulling her down* For you.

Blake: *smiling and resting her head on Ruby's chest* I love you.
