LaDS as Dads - A flower ring by a 'boyfriend' [5yo]
Masterlist ---- Context
How would the LI's react if their baby, Aurora, was gifted a flower ring by her 'boyfriend'?
------------
Small, fast thumps and a blur of white hair announces a little girlâs return from school.
âWhoa, cutie. Slow down.â Rafayel intercepts Aurora mid-sprint, scooping her up into a princess carry.Â
She lets out a giggle, twitching in his grasp as he nuzzles into her tummy.
Xavier drops onto the grey plush of the couch, groaning. âHow is she so hyper when it's so hot outside?âÂ
âIâm just happy!â She beams, escaping Rafayelâs hold.
âYouâre lucky that my mission ended early, Xavier.â Caleb calls out from the doorway, watching her run to him. âAnd youâre extra lucky that I showed up with the car. Otherwise, you wouldâve had to walk in that heat with her.â He smirks, Aurora now helping him pull off his boots.
âThanks.â Xavier mumbles. He then directs his voice at Aurora, âAlright. No more running around. Youâre sweaty all over."
"He's right." Caleb agrees. "Letâs put you in the shower and youâll feel great, okay?â
âNope.â She pops the âpâ cheekily and zips past him, towards the stairs.
âCome on. Please?" Xavier slumps into the softness. "Daddy doesnât want to play chasey today.â
Rafayel shifts off the sofa. âIâll take her. I need to take a bath too. Letâs go, cutie.âÂ
âNooo." She stomps. "I already did a shower this morning!â
An arm whisks Aurora a few feet in the air. Her legs flail around as she is pulled into a familiar hold. A deep voice chuckles, âHello to you too, Kitten.âÂ
âOh, she mustâve woken you up.â Caleb sympathises. âListen to us, Pip.â
âNot quite.â Sylus sighs. âI have a business meeting to attend in two hours, so I was bound to get up soon.â He ruffles her hair with his other hand. âRafayel. Take her uniform off of her.â
Rafayel makes quick work of it while she pouts. âIâm not sweaty!âÂ
As she protests, a pale green object slips out her fingers and spirals to the ground.Â
She momentarily forgets about the shower, looking straight down.
âNOOOO! My ring!â
âYour ring?" Rafayel pauses mid-lift of her shirt at the outburst, raising an eyebrow. "What ring?â
âYou donât have a ring.â Sylus states. âDo you want one, Kitten?â
âWhat a strange way to ask for a ring.â Caleb expresses.
Aurora gets confused. âWhat?âŠI already have a ring! It fell out of my hand.â She points at the floor. âStooooop! Youâre gonna step on it!â Squirming in Sylusâ hold, she bites his arm, making him reluctantly let her go.
She picks it up, cradling it in her hand.
A bright, golden-yellow flower sits on top of a green, stem ring.
She slips it on her finger.
âIt really is a ring.â Xavier comments, resting his chin on the edge of the sofa, peering at the outburst.
âYeahâŠâ Aurora holds her hand out in front of her, admiring it. âMy boyfriend gave it to me.â
âŠ
Silence.
The front door clicks open.
A black-haired man with a tall, white coat walks in.Â
âWhy is it⊠so quiet?â His golden eyes narrow. âWhat broke? Whoâs injured?âÂ
Calebâs voice is deceptively calm. âYou have a boyfriend?âÂ
âThatâs not possible! Youâre too young!â Rafayel exclaims, prying her fingers open to examine the ring.
âWho is your boyfriend, Aurora?â Sylus asks, tone flat.
She giggles. âDaniel gave this to me. His dad taught him how to make it.âÂ
âNo way!â Xavier bursts. âDaniel? As in that bakery guyâs son?âÂ
Sylus huffs. âYou still have a grudge on Charlie?â
âPrincess.â Xavier stands up, making his way to Aurora, effectively ignoring Sylus. âThis Daniel boy isnât good. His dad tried to take mummy away from me. I told you, remember?â
âButtttt, heâs so nice. He plays with me at the park all the time.â She sways side to side.
Caleb chuckles. âAre you for real, Xavier?â
âI am.â He rolls his eyes. âCharlie tried to steal my wife. And now his son is trying to steal my baby. Itâs generational treason.âÂ
âIf Xavier is this fired up, then somethingâs off.â Rafayel mutters. âSorry, cutie.â He begins dramatically, âNo blessing from me. I do not approve of this relationship.â He holds his hand out, palm waiting. âCome on now, pass me the ring.â
âNo way!â
Zayne snorts.
âShe probably doesnât even know what âboyfriendâ means.â Sylus states at the two guys.
Zayne inquires. âSweetie. What does âboyfriendâ mean?â
âPfft. It means...heâs my friend, who's a boy!â
She crosses her arms, like itâs the most obvious thing in the world.
âŠ
A beat.
The corner of Zayneâs lips curls up. "I thought so." He mumbles, pushing up his glasses.
Then Caleb breaks.
He lets out a deep laugh, one hand covering his face.
Sylus chuckles alongside him.
âWhatâs so funny!?â Aurora grumbles.Â
Rafayel turns away and scoffs, concealing a sheepish smile and blushed cheeks.
Xavier lets out a breath and plops back on the couch, an arm over his face. It fails to hide his red-tinted ears.
âThis isnât funny!â
âYes yes, Pip.â Caleb smiles at her. âOff you go to the shower.â
---
Later, the ring was somehow crushed under Xavierâs foot.
âOops.â
Aurora stares in betrayal. âYou stepped on it! On purpose!â
âI didnât see it.â
âYouâre lying.â She growls. Jumping onto his back, her forearms wrap around his neck.
He smirks, nuzzling into her hold like itâs a hug. âI didnât say I wasnât.âÂ
âFine! Iâll ask him for another one.â Xavier starts choking.
âNuh uh, cutie.â Rafayel approaches her with a menacing grin. âNo, you wonâtttt.â And he tickles the thought away.
How would the LI's react if they caught their daughter downstairs in the middle of the night?
Note: I am not happy with Sylus's one. I could've done better.
------------
Aurora pulled on her coat, placing her phone in one of the pockets.
She stepped out onto her balcony, the cold air nipping at her cheeks as she leant over the edge, eyes scanning the yard below.
Jumping off here isnât exactly ideal⊠Iâll probably have better luck sneaking out through the backyard.
With a breath, she turned on her heel and tiptoed back insideâquiet, careful, every step down the stairs measured like she was walking through a minefield.
-----
Xavier
The lights were all off. The house breathed gently, calm and still.
Aurora padded off the stairs, coat zipped and shoes in hand.
Haha. Iâm so close to the back door. Just a few more steps-
Thunk.
Her foot hit something solid and warm.Â
She yelped, stumbling back.
âMmmmfghhhâŠâ
A mop of pale hair shifted near the base of the staircase.
âDad?!â
He groaned, turning over in a burrito of an oversized hoodie.Â
His eyes blinked openâbarely.
âWhyâre you stepping on meâŠâ
âWhy are you on the floor?!â
âTireddd.â
âYou have a bed!â
ââŠBut itâs upstairs. Do you want to cuddle with me?â
âNo. You canât be sleeping on the ground. Your back will be sore.â
He blinked up at her, squinting.
âAre you wearing makeup?â
Her stomach dropped.
âNo?â
âMmm. Okay. Lemme know if you see my other sock.â
And just like that, he rolled over and passed back out, right in front of the door she needed to get through.
She stared at him for a long, silent moment.
âI hate everything.â
-----
Zayne
The hallway was silent, soaked in soft grey light.
Aurora pressed herself against the wall like some kind of spy.Â
She crept past the bookshelf, avoiding the one that creaked.
Almost there.
She turned into the kitchen.
And nearly died.
A harsh light lit up a face. Cold, bluish. A laptop screen.
Zayne sat at the table. Completely still. Hoodie on. Barely illuminated. Glasses on. Fingers paused on his keyboard like a ghost in the middle of typing.
She inhaled sharply and slapped a hand over her mouth.
His head tilted slightly.
ââŠYou good?â
His voice was low. Unbothered. Like heâd been there for hours.
She clutched her chest, trying to look normal.
âIâyeah. Yeah, justâum. Water.â
Zayne blinked slowly.
âMiddle of the night water?â
She nodded too fast. âMhm.â
He went back to typing. Click. Click. Click.
She edged toward the fridge like it was all part of the plan.
âYou always look this suspicious when youâre thirsty?â
Her grip on the fridge handle slipped. âWhat?â
He didnât look up.
âYouâre sneaking around like a cat burglar. I thought you were Sylus at first.â
She snorted. âIâm just thirsty.â
âRight.â A beat. âYou didnât see anything weird outside, did you?â
She stilled. ââŠWhy?â
Zayne finally looked up. Shadows under his eyes. Calm, unreadable.
âNo reason.â
She grabbed a glass. Filled it halfway. Stood there awkwardly.
He didnât say anything else.
But he kept typing.
She quietly backed away with the water still half full.
Aurora switched the light on. âItâll be bad for your eyes to be looking at a screen in the dark."
âGoodnight,â she mumbled.Â
âMmhm.â
-----
Rafayel
The hallway was bathed in shadow, the silence stretching wide and still.
But then she paused.
A soft amber light spilled from under the art studio door.
She tilted her head.
A quiet hum slipped through the crack, followed by the muted clink of a brush dropped into a glass jar. Her breath caught.
Please donât be him. Please be a ghost.
She made the mistake of stepping past the door.
âWhere is that stash of coral I brought last time? I swear it was here somewhere. â
He was sitting cross-legged on the floor, barefoot, shirt smudged with maroon and blue. The large canvas in front of him bled with colourâsomething melancholic, something empty.Â
Red paint streaked across his clothes like a crime scene, and his palette sat on a stack of sketchbooks.
He turned his head lazily towards her, brush still in hand.
âDidnât think Iâd get a midnight audience.â
She cleared her throat. âJust⊠passing by.â
âMhm. Full coat, phone in your sleeve, boots already laced. Very casual.â
She froze.
He raised a brow, then returned to dabbing the canvas with his brush.
âGoing somewhere?â His voice cut through the hallway, calm and coolâbut edged like a knife hidden behind a smile.
Aurora froze.
ââŠKitchen,â she lied.
He tilted his head. âRight. Because the kitchen requires eyeliner.â
âTell me, should I be more concerned about the âsneaking outâ⊠or the terrible blending job on your left eye?â
-----
Sylus
The office door creaked.
She froze.
His voice came from the dark, calm and terrifyingly casual:
ââŠMidnight coat modeling?â
And thenâclick.
A harsh beam of light hit her straight in the face.
She blinked hard. âWhat theâ?â
Sylus lowered the flashlight slightly, expression unreadable. âJust testing the backups,â he said flatly. âThe emergency ones broke last week.â
The beam swept down from her eyes to the coat⊠to the shoes⊠back up to her face, pausing on the subtle shimmer of her mascara.
She squinted against the light. âDadâturn that off!â
He obliged. Slowly. Still watching.
Sylus stood in the hallway, half in shadow, arms crossed over his chest. He wasnât even frowning. That was the worst part.
âI was⊠just getting water,â she said.
âIn a coat.â
She blinked. âI get cold easily.â
âMascara too?â
She touched her lashes on instinct. ââŠI was trying a new routine.â
âAt 2:13AM.â
A pause.
She turned towards the kitchen. âAnywayâIâm gonna go back to sleep now.â
Sylus tilted his head, watching her walk past him.
ââŠMake sure you close all the windows,â he murmured, voice brushing the back of her neck like silk.
Auroraâs heart slammed.
She didnât answer.
And Sylus just stood there in the dark⊠smiling faintly.
-----
Caleb
Her fingers closed around the backdoor doorknob.
Victory was within reach.
âYou left your bedroom door slightly ajar. Rookie mistake.â
She spun around.
Caleb stood behind her like a shadow. Arms folded. Voice calm, but dangerous.
âIâmâjustâuhâgoing out for fresh air.â
He stepped closer.
âWith perfume on.â
She cleared her throat.
âI wanted to smell good.â
He raised a brow. âFor?â
âThe moonâŠ?â
âMoonlight doesnât care what you smell like.â
âOkay but I do.â
A beat passed.
He didnât move. Just stood there, eyes narrowing slightly.
âDo I need to do a body search?â
âYou need to get a hobby.â
âThis is my hobby.â
She rolled her eyes and turned toward her room in defeat.
But thenâ
He lunged.
âWhaâ?!â she shrieked as Caleb grabbed her around the waist from behind, fingers diving straight into her sides.
She buckled, gasping through laughter. âSt-Stop! You psycho!â
âHmm⊠suspicious activity detected. Conducting a tactical inspection.â He grinned, spinning her just enough to get access to her coat pocket mid-chaos.
She squealed and tried to twist away, but heâd already fished out the phone.
âAha.â He raised it triumphantly, stepping back like he just found contraband on a field op. âI knew it.â His hand reached something else out of her other pocket. âA wallet. Why do you need your wallet in the backyard?â
Her mascara was smudged now from laughing too hard. âGive it back!â
Caleb held it out of reach effortlessly. âWere you planning on going somewhere?â
She grumbled. âIt doesnât matter now.â
He tapped her forehead. âSpeak up. I canât hear you.â
LaDS as Dads - Traits she shares with them [Physically/Personality-wise]
Masterlist ---- Context
Xavier
Like I mentioned about her name origin, theyâd definitely share similar sleeping habits
That would lead to a favourite sleeping buddy (or in his point of view, a cuddly teddy bear)
I can see that if she were to be raised by 5 amazing fighters, sheâd having as wonderful combat techniques but I feel like sheâd have similar agility to Xavier
Just like him, she has slick and neat fighting styleÂ
Her favourite combat item is the sword
They have the same colour of hair
Aurora would probably attract small animals just like Xavier (just like a disney princess hehe)
Sheâd learn how to make flower crowns from Jeremiah and make them all the time
Rafayel
Sheâd be born part lemurian for sure
So Rafayel would give her a lemurian name
Cordelia â which I have found to mean âdaughter/heart of the seaâ
Which is very fitting for the God of the Sea
Being born as a lemurian means the inheritance of artistic creativity
Aurora would probably lean towards singing rather than painting I believe (I can totally imagine her singing and a small crowd of animals forming around her)
The sea being a comfort place
Whether itâs just going to walk at the beach or having a dip in the water, itâs where she unwinds and where she can be alone in her thoughts :)
She loves how the water can mirror the pink and purple hues of the sky at a sunset
Zayne
They have similar golden eyes
Auroraâs source of the sweet tooth
Which means dreaded dentist visits
âDad says the dentist arenât real doctorsâ âI never said that sweetieâ âDad also said that dentists are annoy-â âAurora let them clean your teeth pleaseâ cue him looking away with red earsÂ
He probably lets her indulge in a few sweets at night sometimes, knowing that he also does it
He makes sure she brushes thoroughly though because heâs been told off by the dentist enough
Sylus
An obsession with collecting and hoarding
Especially, as a little girl, sheâd love his stash of jewels and gems
Who wouldnât go crazy over colourful sparkly things
Heâd definitely buy more shiny gems in her favourite colour
But when she gets older, sheâd be eyeing his guns and heâd help her at the shooting range
Heâd gift her a custom gun
Dressing up!!!!!!
Sylus would facilitate yearly birthday shootsÂ
She could get the boys to wear any outfits she wished and she could wear whatever she would want
Heâs the dad whoâs like âWear whatever you want sweetie. If anyone takes a wrong glance at you just tell me okay? Tell them your dad can fightâ (Heâd make sure they never step within her 100m radius)
Caleb
His number one cooking partner⊠to the point that the guys begin to prefer her cooking over his as years go by
No she did not inherit Xavierâs cooking skills
Sheâd walk into the kitchen âWhat are you doing dadâ âCooking pipsqueakâ âCan I helpâ âAlright but no eating the ingredients this timeâÂ
Sheâll be helping him bake cookies and heâs making the dough
He turns around looking for the flour but that was obviously a mistake because now her hand is in the bowl of chocolate chips
She tries popping a few in her mouth when she then remembers someone who would love these, plopping off the stool and running to Zayneâs office room
Zayne comes into the kitchen holding her with a firm grip on her arm
It seems like she left a handprint of chocolate on his office door as she came to feed him
He debunks every rumour she hears âDentists are real doctors. Zayne just doesnât like dentistsâ
Sheâd watch Caleb making his models and hear him talk about his planes
Talking about planes, heâd take for a ride whenever she wished to
Maybe even teach her when she gets older
Ended up writing a bit too much for Caleb because I got carried away lol
LaDS as Dads - Nightmares, but it's the LI's past life [17yo] - Xavier & Zayne
Masterlist ---- Context
How would the LI's react if their baby, Aurora, had a nightmare but it was a vision of their past/future life with MC?
Note: I will be adding non-canon stuff to this very slightly, so do not hate me for it. I only had time for Xavier and Zayne so I will be pushing the schedule forward by a day to release Rafayel, Sylus, and Caleb tomorrow.
Read Rafayel ver. here
Read Sylus & Caleb ver. here
------------
Auroraâs eyes snapped open with a gasp, her body jolting beneath the blankets.Â
The bedsheets that once cocooned her in warmth now felt suffocating. A cold sweat clung onto her skin, a drop tracing the curve of her neck. Her breaths came fast and deep, chest heaving.Â
She pushed herself upright, sinking into the mattress. A hand rests on her heart, as if it could somehow physically stop its harsh thumping against the skin of her chest. Her other hand cradled her forehead, slick with sweat, and her elbow braced against her knee for support.
The imagery in that dream was like no other she had ever experienced.Â
It was too much. Too vivid. Too real.
It couldnât have been just a dream.
It felt intrusive.Â
A secret. A story. One that she wasnât part of, yet forced to witness.
She had to do something about it. Right now. Or she was going to shatter right there on the edge of her bed.
Aurora lifted herself off the bed, hands and legs shaky. The adrenaline crash was going to make her fall any moment.
---------
Xavier
đ” Now Playing: Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake, Op. 20, Act 2: No. 10, Scene. Moderato đ”
She found herself in front of the room in which the main character of her nightmare sleeps.
Is a dream really something to be bothering Dad about?Â
Xavier had worked at the Hunterâs Association all day, immediately crashing on his bed when he arrived early in the night.
Aurora retracted her hand away from the doorknob.
However, the tremble in her heart wished to reason against her.Â
No one will be by my side. My star has left me. And this time he will not return home. Her motherâs voice echoed in her head.
A hiccup escaped her. She slapped a hand over her mouth, swallowing down the sob that clawed at her throat.
Thatâs not true. He didnât have a choice.Â
Aurora breathed in deep for four seconds. Holding it for four. And releasing it for another four.
Iâll be selfish just this once.
She slowly turned the knob, ensuring it doesnât make a sound, and opened the door.
Greyish-blonde hair rested on a pillow like a pom-pom. Xavierâs arms and legs flailed out, as if he were tossed onto the bed face forward.
Aurora tiptoed closer to him, crouching beside his head. Soft breaths of air left his lips.Â
Her fingers reached out, gently brushing her dadâs hair out of his eyes. He twitched slightly⊠then leaned into the touch, body unconsciously recognising her. Her thumb glided across his cheekbone.
And just like that, she sees it again.Â
His clothes, torn up. His body, coloured with red blotches. His face, twisted in panic, gasping for air when he realises the spaceship is too broken to take him home.Â
Too broken to take him to her. Too broken to tell her that he hasnât forgotten.
The tremble returned to her chest. A violent puff of air escaped her throat.
Each breath was jagged, alternating between gasps and chokes, like sheâs drowning.Â
Her dadâs eyes snapped open. He stood immediately, light sword materialising in his hand.
Aurora barely registered it.
Her hands flew to her mouth, attempting to muffle the sounds rippling from her body.
Xavierâs guard increased as he frowned in worry. âHey, hey. Whatâs wrong?â He crouched next to her, eyes scanning for a threat he canât see.Â
Tears streamed down her face in burning rivers, soaking her palms, her sleeves, and everything she tried to hide behind.
Xavier wrapped his arm around her, now sitting cross-legged beside her. âIâm getting very concerned, Starling. Whatâs happening?â
âI- I donât know.â Her voice croaked and wavered. She leaned into the side hug.
She blinked to unblur her surroundings but froze. Her hand shook as she reached towards the star tassel hanging on his sword. Something she saw her whole life but now meant more than a decorative piece.Â
âWho-hic-Who gave you this?â
He furrowed his eyebrows. âYour motherâŠwhy?â
âWhe- when?â
âWhen we were little kids.â He paused. âAurora, why are you deflecting? Why are you crying like this?â
His answer didnât make sense. He said he first met Mum on her first day of work.Â
But according to the dreams, they met when they were kids at school.
Her gaze shifted. âWhat about this badge?â
âAurora-â
âPlease.â She whispered, desperate. âPlease just answer. Iâll explain, I promise.â
âShe gave it to me when we were teenagers.â
Her breath stilled.
The star tassel. The badge hanging off his sword.Â
Jeremiahâs shop named âPhiloâ, when the planet in her dream was called âPhilosâ. His Lumiere outfit looked the same from when he was a prince.
It was too much of a coincidence.
âTell me now. Why are you crying? What happened? Why are you shaking so much?â He pulled her into his lap, the sword vanishing with a flick of his wrist.
âI had a... dream.â
Xavier exhaled slowly, with a sad, knowing smile. âAhh. A nightmare? Did I die or something?â He picked and placed her on the bed, lying on her right side.
The image rushed back.Â
His chest, rising and falling too fast. His voice, hoarse and broken, whispering sorry, over and over. Iâll find a way back. Just wait a bit longer, My Starlight.
Perhaps a dream of him dying wouldâve hurt less than watching him so helpless. So in pain.
Xavier held her tight, rubbing soothing circles into her back with his hand. But it wasnât enough. Not when her heart felt like itâs beating out of time with reality.
âI thought it was just a dream,â she whispered. âAt first.â
His brow furrowed. âWhat do you mean?â
She swallowed hard. Her voice shook. âI saw you. On another planet. You were a prince there. You came here to find a cure for the planet so they wouldn't use Mum but..."
Xavierâs body tensed next to her. His hand stilled.Â
"the ship broke, and you couldnât go back. You were stuck here⊠panicking. Apologising to Mum over and over in an audio recording, begging her to wait a little longer.â
His silence said more than words ever could.
She gulped, staring into his eyes. âWas it really a dream, Dad? Or was this somethingâŠâ Sheâd either be spot on or be making the most ridiculous conclusion of her life. â...something else?â
His sapphire eyes softened and glistened. His mouth opened, only to close.
It was enough. Enough for her to understand.
Aurora buried her face in his chest, the rippling entering her body again. They hugged tight.
No one knew who was consoling who anymore. Whose tears were dampening whose shirt.
No one spoke. There was nothing left to say.Â
Maybe tomorrow sheâd ask more. Maybe tomorrow heâd tell her.
But for now, they would stay like that.
A father with her daughter.
A king with his princess.
---------
Zayne
đ” Now Playing: this is what winter feels like [JVKE] đ”
Her breath wavered. A tear slipped out of her eye.
She smiled, letting out a huff.
He was going to arrive in fifteen minutes.Â
She made her way towards the couch, heart heavy. Xavier and Rafayel were fast asleep, Sylus was at the N109 zone, and Caleb was recruited on a mission in Skyhaven.
I know how this nightmare ends.
She shivered, trembling hands cradling her head.Â
It came in fragments, like shattered mirrors reflecting different livesâher dad, Zayne, and the others: Dawnbreaker, the Master of Fate, and the Foreseer.
One version stood alone, isolated, killing Alterums for the sake of others.Â
ZÌžaÌ·y̶nÌ·eÌ”âŠÌžkÌŽiÌ”lÌ·lÌ· ÌŽm̶eÌž.Ì·
A whisper. A plea. A curse.
Another version was impaled by his own evol. By his own ice crystals.
The same ice he used to make popsicles for her in the summer.
The same ice he pressed gently to foreheads during fevers, whispering, âDonât worry, Iâm here.â
It bloomed, jagged and merciless, from his own chest like a betrayal.
Click.
Her stomach twisted. Her chest clenched.
How could something so kind â so familiar â turn into a weapon against him?
Her dad- lips blue, eyes wide with pain. Knees buckling as he is stabbed by the very evol that once made her giggle when heâd make a snow seal.
She curled into herself tighter.
It hurt.
âAurora?â His voice cut through the haze.Â
She hadnât registered the door opening. Not while her thoughts drowned her.
âAre you crying?â
She pats her sweaty fingers on her hot cheeks, which were wet with tears.
Aurora could make out his legs in front of her.
She swallowed hard, eyes fixed on the floor. âNo,â she lied, voice hoarse.
The couch dipped next to her.
Cold fingertips held her chin and turned her face towards him.Â
How was she going to face him without seeing blood bloom like frostbite over his chest?
The moonlight from the windows illuminate his exposed forearms. She could make out the pink, pale scars adorning them.
A harsh sob left her throat.
âWhy are you crying, dear?â
âI had a nightmare.â She choked out, trembling as she is pulled into an embrace.
Zayne didnât answer right away.Â
âWas itâŠabout me?â
âŠ
He wiped her face with his hand. âWhat happened?â
Finally, she looked up. The sight of himâso close, so aliveâonly made her throat tighten again.
âMum was there. You- you kept telling her to leave becauseâŠyou were losing control of your evol.â
A beat of silence passed. No confusion. No denial.
âThe ice pierced through you.â Her voice cracked. âYou died.â
Recognition.
Zayne gulped. His arms stayed around her, but now they were tighter. Not squeezing⊠just anchoring. He wasnât sure if it was for Aurora or himself.
âThese scars on your arm. It happens whenever you lose control over your evol, isnât it?â
His jaw tightened. His fingers trembled faintly as they stroked her hair.Â
Aurora clutched his shirt. âIt wasnât just a nightmare, right?â
âI wonât lie to you,â he murmured. âBut yes.â
âWhat?â It wasnât the answer she was expecting. âYou never told-â
âI donât want you to carry what I canât leave behind.â His voice was thick. Almost breaking.
âYouâre my daughter. You deserve warmth, not memories soaked in blood.â
She looked up at him again. âThey found me anyway.â
Zayne lowered his forehead to hers. âThen we carry them together.â
Her lips parted. âI never saw you look so⊠terrified.â
His eyes glistened. âBecause I couldnât control it. And the moment I hurt someone I loveâŠâ He trailed off.Â
âI would rather die than see that happen.â
Her breath hitched.Â
âThen you still losing control over your evolâŠis Astra still after you?â
âMy soul has been cursed. Thereâs nothing I can do but stay away from your mother. But everytimeâŠevery lifetime...I find myself straying back to her no matter how hard I try to keep her safe.â
She sniffled.
When push comes to shove, leaving me behind might be for the best.
âYouâll never be alone, Dad. Iâll never leave you.â
They stayed like thatâpressed together, stitched by silence. Not quite healed. But no longer alone.

LaDS as Dads - A Valentine's gift from a 'Secret Admirer' [17yo]
Masterlist ---- Context
How would the LI's react if their baby, Aurora, was anonymously gifted a Valentine's gift?
------------
It was 6:03am on a Sunday morning.Â
Five men sat around the glass dining table.Â
The sky outside the windows was still dim and soft, hues of blue bleeding into the edges of the morning. The house was silentâmostly.
Right in the centre of the table sat a tidy kraft box, its lid propped open like an invitation.Â
Nestled inside, a bouquet of seven deep red roses, accented with delicate white babyâs breath, sat wrapped in smooth white paper and tied with a satin ribbon.
A soft white teddy bear leant gently against a tube of peach blossom hand cream, its glassy eyes almost too innocent. And beside them, a small pack of Ferrero Rocher chocolates gleamed in gold foil, catching the soft morning light.
Tucked carefully against the flowers, half-hidden but impossible to ignore, was a single red envelopeâcrisp, clean, and deliberate.
No one spoke.
Caleb stared at it, arms folded tightly.Â
Zayne was the one who found itâresting just outside the gate when he returned from his early run. Addressed in delicate, looping handwriting.
To Aurora.
Xavier broke first. âThat handwriting looks older than a teenagerâs.â
Rafayel let out a slow breath. âItâs definitely not from one of us.â He glanced up, smiling faintly, but there was no humour in it.
Sylus reached out and tapped the corner of the envelope. âDid you open it yet?â
Caleb shook his head.Â
âYou should.â Sylus stated.
âHe shouldnât.â Zayne retorted.Â
âI donât think sheâd like it if I opened something for her.â The brunette agreed. âIf you wanna open it, then go ahead. If Aurora gets mad that you took that opportunity away from her, then thatâs your fault.â
Sylus, still in his robe, leant forward and frowned. âDid she mention anyone lately? Anyone new?â
âNo,â Xavier answered quickly.
Sylusâs gaze flicked to him. âAre you sure?â
âShe tells me everything,â Xavier said, quieter this time. âShe wouldâve said something.â
âIf I were Aurora, then the first person Iâd hide my boyfriend from is you, Xavier.â Rafayel rolled his eyes.
âWhat do you mean?! Sheâd tell me before Caleb.â
âExcuse me?! What are you trying to say?â Caleb raised his eyebrow and his voice.
âWe all know it. Donât act innocent-â
âGuys.â Zayneâs voice cut through the tension like ice, pointing a finger to the ceiling. âSheâs sleeping.â
Rafayel glanced towards the staircase, then back. âI donât think she even knows what today is yet.â
Zayne tapped his mug. âSheâs growing up. You all know that.â
No one answered.
The silence wasnât hostileâit was heavy with realisation.
She was still their little girl, in many ways. The one who snuck into their beds after nightmares. The one who cried when she lost a petal from her flower crown. The one who asked Caleb to braid her hair before school and still let Xavier carry her when she pretended to fall asleep on the couch.
But to the world, she is a girl on the edge of becoming a womanâgrace blooming in her voice, confidence in her step, and secrets theyâre no longer allowed to know.
Xavierâs voice dropped. âDo you think sheâll⊠like it?â
Caleb looked down at the envelope. âI think sheâs going to be flustered. Maybe confused.â
Sylus added quietly, âBut sheâll be curious. Thatâs natural.â
Rafayel sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. âWeâre not going to overreact, right?â
Zayne sighed. âYou guys already are.â
âYouâre acting like you arenât concerned either.â Xavier glared.
âBeing concerned and trying to track down who gave it to her are different things.â Zayne said flatly, pointing at Caleb, who was already scrolling through the ring camera footage like it was a military operation.
Footsteps echoed lightly upstairs.
Aurora was waking up.
âSheâs going to be down soon! Should we just chuck it out?â Rafayel whisper-yelled.
âNo.â Zayne stood. âSylus. There isnât anything suspicious in here, is there? Hidden cameras? Suspicious substances?â
â...No. I checked beforehand.â
âThatâs great, then. We are going to let her have it.âÂ
Rafayel disagreed. âWhat? No-â
A soft yawn floated down from the staircase.Â
Their heads turned.
Aurora shuffled in, hoodie slung over her pyjamas, hair still tangled from sleep. She blinked against the low morning light, rubbing one eye as she reached the bottom step.
ââŠWhyâre you all staring at me?â she mumbled.
None of them answered right away.
Rafayel was the first to speak, voice gentle. âMorning, cutie. You hungry?âÂ
The guys looked at him strangely. It was like a switch flipped inside him.
She frowned. âNo? Why are you all sitting here like youâre in a meeting or something?â
Caleb cleared his throat. âThereâs something we⊠found. Outside.â
Her eyes trailed over to the tableâand stopped.
She blinked.
ââŠWhatâs that?â
Zayne nodded towards the box. âIt has your name on it.â
Aurora stepped closer, slowly, like approaching a sleeping animal.
When she saw the envelope, her breath caught just a little. âWait. This is for me?â
Her lips curved into a smile. âDid you guys get this for me because itâs Valentineâs? Aww-â
âNo, we didnât.â Xavier sheepishly rubbed his neck, interrupting her before she can express her gratitude.
Sylus studied her reaction carefully. âDo you recognise the handwriting?â
She picked up the envelope and turned it in her hand, lips parting.
Aurora felt her cheeks warm.
âNo. I mean⊠I donât think so?â
Xavier stepped besides her too quickly. âStarling, if someoneâs bothering youââ
âNo oneâs bothering me.â She looked up at him, confused. âWhy would you think that?â
âBecause gifts like this donât just show up on our doorstep,â Caleb said. He was standing now too.
Aurora opened the box gently, as if afraid the roses would vanish.
"Well, they have a good taste in chocolates."
Pairs of violet and sapphire eyes glared at Zayne's golden ones.
She looked down at the bear, the chocolates, the hand cream. âHe remembered I liked this scent,â she murmured, almost to herself.
Xavierâs eyes widened. âHe?â
âNo! I mean, I donât know who it is-!â she corrected quickly.
Rafayel stood with a sigh, running a hand through his hair. âOkay. So. Thereâs a boy.â
âThere is no boy!â Aurora exclaimed. âYouâre all being insane!â
âThen who would know your favourite scent, princess?â Xavier demanded.
âI donât know!â she said, cheeks flushed. âI just kind of assumed it was a guy!â
Zayne leant back in his chair again, smirk on the edge of his lips. âIn this day and age?â
Sylus folded his arms. âDo you want to open the letter?â
ââŠCan I do it in my room?â
âNo.â Caleb said.
âYes.â Zayne said at the same time.
They both stared at each other.
She opened it cautiously, in front of them and mumbled, âOverprotective fathers.â
With a quick scan, she lets out a relieved sigh.Â
She folded the letter carefully and tucked it back into the envelope. âItâs just⊠really generic.â
Sylus extended his hand. âMay I see it?â
Auroraâs fingers tightened around the paper, but reluctantly let it go. âHere.â
A beat of silence passed.
Caleb grabs it anyways.
Hey,
I wasnât sure if I should send this. But I figured⊠one small thing canât hurt, right?
I donât know you well. Not really. But I notice things. Like the way you always choose flowers with little white petals. Or how your hair glows golden when you walk past the library windows in the morning sunlight.
Youâre the kind of person that people write songs about and never forget.
So hereâs something small. Just a box. Just a bear. Just a card. But I hope it makes you smile today.
Thatâs all I wanted.
â Yours, maybe someday
P.S. I sprayed a little lemon perfume on the card. You like it, donât you?
"Yours someday? I think not-"
âWell?" she intercepted Rafayel's fore-coming rant, snatching the envelope away. âCan I go now?â she asked, already backing away with the gifts.
No one stopped her. Zayne offered a faint nod. âDonât skip breakfast.â
She nodded once and turned.
As soon as she was out of sight, her steps doubled.
---
Caleb dragged the footage back again. Frame by frame. His jaw clenched tighter with every second that ticked past.
âThere,â Xavier said suddenly, pointing. âPause it.â
The screen froze on a frame just outside the front gate. The box wasnât there.
Caleb clicked forward once.
The box appeared.
No figure. No shadow. No movement.
Just⊠there.
âWhat the hell?â Rafayel whispered.
âThereâs a jump in the timestamp,â Sylus muttered, already reaching for his phone. âFour seconds. Clean cut.â
âI didnât cut it.â Caleb scowled. âThereâs no trigger warning. No motion flag. Nothing.â
Rafayel leant in, brow furrowed. âOur system doesnât glitch like that.â
âIt doesnât,â Sylus confirmed coldly. âUnless someone made it glitch.â
Zayne folded his arms. âSo not only did he avoid the camerasâhe knew exactly where the blindspots were. And how to exploit the software.â
âIt canât just be some teenage boy with a crush,â Caleb said flatly.
âHe knew where to step. Where not to breathe,â Sylus added. âThe precisionâs too calculated.â
âThereâs no record of anyone on the street either,â Xavier said. âI checked the neighborâs feed. Same glitch. Same timestamp skip.â
âThat means he looped or bypassed multiple systems,â Rafayel muttered. âHeâs not just sneakyâheâs good.â
Zayne exhaled. âWhich raises a very big question.â
All four turned to look at him.
He stared at the frozen frame of the box on the screen.
ââŠWhy is someone that good leaving love letters for our seventeen-year-old girl?â
---
Aurora closed the door. Quietly.
She sat on the edge of her bed, heart racing. Her fingers turned the card sideways, feeling along the seams. Then she tilted it under the light.
Nothing.
Until her nose caught it.
Peach and lemon.
ââŠYou idiot,â she whispered, smiling.
She stood up, walked to her desk, and turned on her lamp. She held the card close to the warm bulbâcareful not to burn it.
Slowly⊠pale gold letters began to bloom across the paper, like secrets unfurling under moonlight:
Happy Valentine's, My Valkyrie.
These gifts are only the start.
11pm. Wait for me. Keep your balcony door open.
- R
Her breath caught.
She pressed the card to her chest, eyes wide, face burning.
I feel like theyâd give their baby the similar nicknames they had for MC since she passed away
Collective
âRoryâ - short form of Aurora
XavierÂ
âStarlingâ â implying that his baby is from his âstarlightâ MC
âPrincessâ â Heâs literally a prince and was about to be a king so sheâs obviously his princess
On this note, I can totally see him doing a âknightâ and âprincessâ roleplay with her. He wears his lumiere outfit while Sylus and Rafayel dolls Aurora up with a pretty dress.
âBunnyâ
Rafayel
âCordeliaâ â Her lemurian name. Meaning âheart/daughter of the seaâ. Which makes so much sense for the God of the Sea and Tides
This name would have variations like âDeliaâ or âLiaâ
He would use this name more when itâs just the two of them or they are having a family get together with Talia.
In fact, Talia mustâve given her Lemurian name.
âCutieâ â just like he had for MC
Zayne
âSweetieâ or âSugarâ â Yes. Sweet-based nicknames. Itâs his favourite thing. So is his baby.
âDearâ â Heâd probably use this nickname as she gets older and mature or when she isnât listening to him đ€Ș
âBabyâ â sheâd always be his baby no matter how old she gets
Sylus
âKittenâ â I can imagine him buying those small, over-sized cat outfits that parents make their baby wear and they look so adorable in đ„șđ
Like the little girl would be crawling on the ground, making little thump sounds with her hand and when he picks her up, she clings onto him
âRoryâ would make sense coming out of Sylus because itâs like âRoaryâ and heâs a dragon. Get it? Get it? Haha. crashes out
Caleb
âPipâ â Short form of âpipsqueakâ because sheâs the smaller version of MC
âNovaâ â Iâm not referring to the explosion in his myth. Sorry⊠kind of? Itâs because of the supernova he and MC watched in Skyhaven around the time they met again. It reminds him of that turning point in his and MCâs relationship. Su-su-su-supernova.Â
