#labrys flag

So, i went to pride and found a purple flag with a black triangle and a battle axe. I had remembered something about it being lesbian, so i grabbed it.

Got home, looked up the history and it seems that theres some controversy, if you could believe it. Terfs have been using the labrys flag, but as a transfemme, i dont know if im willing to just give them this symbol.

So uhhh thoughts? I am so very very clearly trans and im always wearing a trans pin or flag of some sort, so would that help establish my postion?

And then she said the Labrys flag has been “ruined” by TERFs and my interest began to fade. 

Then the speaker brought up Mary Daly’s book Gyn Ecology: The Metaethics of Radical Feminism, and she flippantly dismissed the entire book as transphobia. Followed by, as you can imagine, a call to “reclaim” the Labrys flag.

Now I’m not super familiar with Daly’s work, but I think that there’s something really vile in painting an entire book/author as worthless, painting it with one label and that is “transphobic.” There couldn’t possibly be anything of value in what Daly has to say; obviously her entire goal in writing the book was to squash transwomen (those poor, most-downtrodden of all women), and anything about uplifting the souls and minds of the uterus-bearers was a tacked-on afterthought, and anyway that’s not important.

Yeah, screw that. It’s not only a dismissive attitude, it’s promoting ignorance, the idea that our feminist foremothers have nothing whatsoever of value to say. It’s a form of epistemic injustice, telling girls “your thoughts must not cross into this camp, anything that speaks to your oppression and your experience alone is worthless twaw”

This month let's update our classic battle gear, now including not only a labrys but also a shield that protects our lavender love. By a lesbian for lesbians, you are welcome to use this design as well.

This redesign aims to be respectful of the Roma people, especially Roma lesbians. The mods of this blog have brainstormed for a new design for a long time, and what better time to present it than Pride Month!

Our blog will use this version of the flag from now on to make lesbian pride graphics.

the labrys flag is not bad.

terfs have tainted the public perception of these things. not all radfems are terfs. the labrys flag does not stand for transphobia.
