𝐗𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐑 : are you okay ?

          he  doesn’t  have  any  reason  to  be  upset  with  her  right  now  .  that’s  what  he  keeps  repeating  to  himself  ,  hoping  that  he’ll  manifest  the  revelation  unto  his  actions  .  but  he  can’t  deny  the  way  his  chest  burns  as  he  stands  at  her  doorstep  .  one  last  talk  ,  and  it  was  over  .  he’d  stop  stringing  her  along  .  it  wasn’t  fair  to  her  or  him  ;  all  it  ever  ended  with  was  heartbreak  .  it  felt  like  all  he  knew  how  to  do  was  pull  her  in  and  push  her  away  again  ,  as  uncontrollable  as  the  tide  of  the  sea  .  maybe  in  another  universe  ,  he  would’ve  been  a  better  man  ---  a  father  ---  but  that  was  merely  a  figment  of  his  imagination  now  .  what  could’ve  been  and  what  was  were  starkly  different  .  never  had  he  ever  dreamed  that  things  would  end  up  like  this  ,  but  their  relationship  had  slowly  morphed  into  a  living  nightmare  .  how  was  he  meant  to  just  get  over  it  when  it  plagued  every  corner  of  his  mind  ?  what  was  he  even  supposed  to  say  to  her  now  ?  sorry  didn’t  fix  everything  ,  and  it  sure  as  hell  didn’t  fix  them  .  maybe  it  was  time  to  admit  that  their  love  had  fallen  into  a  state  of  disrepair  ---  that  he’d  fucked  things  up  beyond  hope  .  he  knows  it  ,  but  getting  himself  to  really  believe  it  is  excruciating  work  .  there’s  a  part  of  him  that’s  always  going  to  hold  onto  the  aspiration  that  he  could  pick  up  the  pieces  of  their  broken  relationship  and  put  them  back  together  if  he  really  tried  hard  enough  .  but  he  can’t  .  and  he  won’t  .  she’s  better  off  without  him  ,  and  he  needs  to  let  her  go  .  maybe  this  isn’t  even  a  good  idea  .  maybe  he  should  just  leave  before  he  digs  himself  into  an  even  deeper  hole  ...  but  before  he  can  really  think  it  all  through  ,  he’s  knocking  on  her  door  ,  hoping  that  it’s  not  margo  that  answers  .  she  wouldn’t  let  him  get  a  word  in  before  slamming  the  door  in  his  face  ,  and  he’s  well  aware  of  it  .  he  deserves  that  ,  honestly  .  but  then  the  door  is  peeling  open  to  reveal  the  raven - haired  girl  ,  and  giovanni’s  wishing  it  was  anyone  else  .  just  looking  at  her  now  felt  like  he’d  gotten  the  wind  knocked  out  of  him  ,  lips  parting  like  he  was  about  to  say  something  ,  but  staying  silent  instead  .  where  the  fuck  do  you  even  start  when  it  came  to  things  like  this  ?  he’s  never  been  particularly  eloquent  ---  quite  the  opposite  ,  actually  .  all  he  can  focus  on   for  a  few  seconds  is  her  and  how  much  this  hurts  .  it’s  not  burning  anymore  .  it’s  a  sinking  feeling  .  like  he  was  going  to  lose  his  grip  at  any  moment  and  suffocate  right  there  on  the  spot  .  sucking  in  a  short  breath  ,  he  attempts  to  nudge  off  the  sensation  .  he’s  gotten  pretty  good  at  deflection  over  the  years  .  “  -----  i’m  not  a  pussy  .  ”  the  words  are  meant  to  be  assertive  ;  maybe  even  funny  in  relevance  to  her  text  ,  but  the  statement  is  riding  on  a  frail  tone  .  swallowing  hard  ,  he  rips  his  gaze  away  from  her  and  down  to  the  floor  ,  mindlessly  toying  with  the  chain  of  his  necklace  .  he  doesn’t  want  to  look  at  her  .  facing  her  meant  facing  the  fact  that  he’d  hurt  her  so  deeply  .  “  i  just  don’t  know  what  to  say  to  you  .  ”

𝐡𝐞  𝐜𝐚𝐧  𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡  𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐬    plastered  over  the  duo’s  guises , slurred  vows  and  stumbling  down  the  aisle .  what  was  supposed  to  be nothing  but  a  jovial  tryst  between  two  friends  turned  into  an  appalling scandal  that  would  isolate  him  from  some  of  the  most  important  people in  his  life .  his  lawyer’s  tirades  haunting  his  thoughts  on  the  drive  over  to  kylie’s  abode ,  you  need  to  stop  fucking  up ,  he  thinks  to  himself .  his inner  ramblings  being  his  most  vocal  and  callous  critic  of  all .  but  alas , xavier’s  apathetic  and  insouciant  nature  had  become  something  of  a  well - rehearsed  dance ,  behind  closed  doors  he  was  in  turmoil  but  out  in  the open ,  nothing  could  touch  him .  a  sharp  exhale  slips  from  his  lips  as  he prepares  his  casual  charade ,  a  sharp  knock  on  kylie’s  door , ‘  open  up mrs  de  la  fuente ,  i  have  something  for  you  !   ’ .
