cannot believe i am hardcore thinking about a series i used to watch when i was 12-13 & this might be sacrilegious to say but i genuinely think smash would have worked better if the series had been about two rival musicals from the off, bombshell & hit list with everyone beefing between the shows, having to share rehearsal spaces, trying to get the same venues, some characters jumping between the two, the writers could have been beefing, could have had scandalous love affairs between two rival musicals, no one would have to sleep with derek (unless they actually wanted to), idc for dev but a thousand & one nights would still have to be there but could go into hit list somewhere (can never let that song go what a masterpiece) & i also think that frank should have songs but basically ivy would be going for the lead of bombshell, karen going for the lead of hit list because karen suits the pop style hit list has better, it is just better for her because all these years on & i still can't believe she was a serious rival for ivy lynn, played by musical goddess the megan hilty, they both have beautiful voices but ivy is just on another level, i mean even the creators must have seen that otherwise they wouldn't have made ivy & karen “equally matched” in the rather confusing musical.

Bishlins is 1000000% more plausible when u acknowledge that Hit List is just Jimmy and Kyle's self inserts.
