Vibrant, flowering vines clung close to weathered stone walls. A breeze rustled pink trees, their branches swaying just outside a bedroom on the third floor. The sun was just rising, peeking over snow-tipped mountains and illuminating the meadows on the outskirts of Ashvale as well as the buildings of similar make. Various houses could be seen outside the window of the councilman’s house, and far in the center, looming protectively over all of them, was a shadowed castle. He hadn’t yet woken his Lord, but as he took a step back to look at the outfit he’d chose, he tilted his head and nodded with satisfaction. He turned on the worn heel of his usual work boots and padded softly to an elaborate bed side, overlain with a canopy of soft green. They were tied back as they usually were, allowing him to see his sleeping Lord as well as have easy access so he could reach in and lightly nudge his shoulder.Â
