KWJAZ: KWJAZ (2012) CD Limited Edition Reissue on Not Not Fun Records The album of today is more a release that I came across while looking for Microsound music, than an album that actually prominently features the sound. KWJAZ is a Hypnagogic Pop / Ambient album that is here reissued on Not Not Fun Records on CD with two bonus track. The original album consists of 2 long 20+ minute tracks that actually have multiple parts / tracks in them, as you will notice when listening to this record. Track 1 was originally [untitled] but is here titled Once In Babylon. It introduces the sound of Hypnagogic Pop, lo-fi chilled out old-sounding music that is at the same time like Lounge, but also Psychedelic. It's a rather strange experience listening to this, as it feels like a kind of constant haze of sound, never really fully defined in its sound, always flowing. Track 2 was originally also [untitled], but is here titled Frighteous Wane. Similar in sound, but there are more loosely timed instruments and Drone. It's way more trippy than the first track, at some points. Track 3 A Certain Sprout is a bonus track, nicely chill and trippy, but maybe a bit too short for its 2:21 minute length. Track 4 is the second bonus track Elevation Elation Jah Wad, more focussed in sound it features a clearer sound quality and sounds more like pure Psychedelic Rock than the rest of the album. KWJAZ is a pretty strange kind of album that will take some listens to "understand", but it works well as a psychedelic kind of relaxed music.
