You pace around Kate’s apartment. She wasn’t returning your texts or your calls — not that you didn’t expect that. She had told you about her and Clint’s partnership. You still worried anyway, it was dangerous! Anyone could be out to get her, even —

“Yelena?” You gasped as someone entered through the window of the apartment, even she seemed startled. You help her in— even if she was breaking into your girlfriend’s home, she was still your troublemaker older sister. “Y/N? What are you doing here? Is this not Kate Bishop’s apartment?” She asked after giving you a quick hug.

“I’m Kate’s girlfriend. What are you doing here?” You raise an eyebrow, she shrugs as she heads towards Kate’s mini-kitchen. “I know, congratulations by the way. Never thought I’d see the day where you finally get a girlfriend.” Yelena teases, “I just didn’t think you’d be here now.”

“Are you making mac n’ cheese?” You say as Yelena pulls out a box. You always knew it was her favorite, you were just surprised Kate still had any left. “Of course! You should eat too, I know how much you like my cooking.” Yelena teases.

“I will— Hey, you never told me why you’re here!” You laughed, hitting her lightly. You didn’t mind seeing Yelena again, it has been a few months since you last saw her. “I’ll tell you when Kate Bishop returns.”

“Babe, I’m sorry I was gone for longer than usual but—” Kate entered quickly, stopping in her tracks when she heard you laughing. “Oh, Katie!” You stood up from your seat and hugged her tight, giving her a kiss on the cheek. “N/N? Who is- You!” Kate groaned as she saw Yelena.

“Kate Bishop! It is wonderful to meet you, come sit. I made macaroni and cheese.” Your sister smiles, you pull Kate to sit beside you. “What? You just tried to kill me!” Kate argued, you frown.

“You did what?” You ask Yelena, she raises her hands up in defense. “No, no. I did not try to kill you, Kate Bishop. I simply removed you from the fight. And, even if I was trying to kill you,” “You would have already.” You finished for her, Yelena nods. “Right, you know that!” Yelena shrugs, flicking you lightly for forgetting you were both trained assassins. “I’m confused, you two know each other?” Kate asked from beside you. You nodded, “She’s my sister.”

It’s just you and Kate in your apartment. You’re reading a book quietly while Kate is poking around your room as she waits for you to pay attention to her.

You don’t mind, you think it’s really cute how she searches every corner of your room for something to do while you’re finishing up a book.

It’s mostly silent for a while. Only the sound of pages turning and items being moved around filling the room.

Until, of course, Kate stumbles upon your little set up.

She’s confused at first, it looked weird. Just a weird, uneven block sitting by your television.

Then she picks it up - oh.

She’d seen one of these before, her mom probably got it for her once. She might have regifted it to a kid.

Kate turned the console on, seeing that your most recent game was Mario Kart. She’d played it before, at a friend’s house.

Kate gets into bed beside you, leaning her head on your shoulder.

“I’m not done with the book yet.”

“I don’t care, I wanna play Mario Kart with you.” She pouts.

You’re confused, looking at her and then realizing she had your Nintendo Switch in her hands.

“You’re right, the book can wait.” You smile, putting your book aside and taking the console from her so you could set it up. 

You spend hours playing Mario Kart with her.

And you beat her almost every time

She only beat you once because she hit you with a blue shell.

Kate finds it funny how you tried not to curse at her.

Other than Mario Kart, you like introducing Kate to other games.

Like Super Smash Bros. (Which she’s insanely good at)

Or Animal Crossing! She put her house right next to yours.

She always sends little note cards in the game with presents.

Kate loves buying you new games you mentioned once, she knows how much you like video games.

She loves playing with you even more!! Even if she keeps beating you at Smash Bros., or you beating her at Mario Kart.

It’s always worth it because you reward her with a kiss for having fun.

Her favorite is when you two are playing Animal Crossing together.

You jump off the ship to the best you could, using your sword as support. Wanda insists on helping but you decline. She’d already carried most of the mission when you got injured early on, the least you could do was do something by yourself.

“Bruce?” You called out, looking around the infirmary. Somehow, you’d forgotten that he was on a mission too— damn it. 

“You look great.” A voice teases from beside you. You grumble, deciding to fix yourself before a certain blondie offers to help. “What are you doing here?” You ask, glaring at her as you sit on a bed.

She doesn’t answer, she never does. Instead, she crosses her arms and stands right in front of you. You’re struggling not to smile when she lifts your chin. “What did you do?” Her voice is commanding, like you personally hurt her when you took the punch.

“I didn’t see the punch.”

“I’m assuming you didn’t see whatever crushed your arm either..?”

“Don’t”

Sharon drops your chin, instead moving to poke the blood stain on your suit. You wince. You’re not sure what you expected, she loved egging you on before actually helping you. At least you got an answer to your question earlier.

“You poor thing, being bested by the worst of the worst.” She snickers, going to get a first aid kit before sitting next to you. “I don’t need help.” You pout, looking away from her. “Yet you never make me go away.” You look at her, she doesn’t look at you. Getting you fixed up seemed more important.

“She’s my sister! Haven’t I told you about my two sisters?” You ask Kate, smiling at her reaction. It was cute, the way she was looking back and forth at you and Yelena. “No, no, you did- I just didn’t expect it to be her!”

“Ouch.” Yelena commented, you grinned. “Well, there you go. Yelena is my sister and so was Natasha.” The mood dampens at the mention of Nat. More obvious with Yelena’s frown. “Speaking of Natasha. Y/N, you knew Kate Bishop was working with Clint Barton. Why didn’t you stop her?”

You frown as well, furrowing your brows to see if Yelena was serious. The determined glint in her eye gave you the answer. “Are you - Are you seriously asking why I didn’t stop my girlfriend from working with her idol? I know it’s dangerous and you don’t want me to get hurt but I trust her-”

“Clint Barton killed Natasha.” Your sister interrupts you, sitting up with perfect posture. You do the same, feeling Kate’s worried eyes on you as you have a mini-staring contest with Yelena. “What? No! He would never-” Kate started before Yelena glared at her, effectively shutting her up. 

“He saved the world, Lena. Natasha’s death had nothing to do with him.” You argue. You never actually found out how your sister died. All you knew was that she couldn’t be there to hold you anymore. She couldn’t make you laugh, or make fun of you, or - anything. But you knew not to blame someone for it, not when you didn’t know anything else.

“No! Natasha saved the world. Our Natasha, Y/N! The last person to be with Natasha was Clint, what are you not getting?” Yelena had tears in her eyes, you couldn’t help but stay silent. You rarely saw Yelena cry, even when you visited her and the rest of your family after Natasha’s death.

“Clint Barton is a good person.” You stand up, “He’s keeping Kate safe, he’s out there helping her do the right thing.” Yelena shakes her head. “He’s keeping his reputation safe. He doesn’t care about Kate Bishop, not about you and not about Natasha!” The room goes silent, Yelena stands up.

“I’m going to kill him.” Kate freezes, and so do you. Neither of you had anything to say anymore, fearing it would make things worse. You simply stared at her as she walked to Kate’s open window. “And Kate, just know I won’t do anything to harm Y/N. But if you get in my way again,” She pauses.

You gulp, already knowing what she was going to say. “I don’t think your girlfriend would like the outcome of it.” And with that, she was gone. You looked at the window sadly, almost terrified? Yelena promised never to hurt you, and hurting Kate would absolutely hurt you. Although it seemed like getting revenge was more important than the promise she made to you years ago. 

Sighing, you walked towards Kate’s room. “Hey, hey! Y/N, it’s okay.” Kate spoke softly as she followed you. “No, no it’s not. Kate, you’re in danger.” You face her, placing your hands on her shoulders. You can see the tears form in her eyes. “I know you want to protect Clint, and I do too. I know he would never think of hurting Natasha but Yelena’s too stubborn to see that.” “Which is why I’m going with you.” You let go of her, moving to her closet. “What? Go with me? As in fight with me? Clint told me to back off after Yelena attacked!” Her voice was shaky, but you didn’t stop from getting your old widow gear. “Then I’m going.”

Kate shakes her head in a panic, going over to try and stop you. “No, N/N, please - I don’t want you getting hurt!” You sigh, setting the box on her bed. “Kate Bishop, I love you. And I don’t want Clint to get hurt nor do I want to see my sister do something she will regret.” You cup her cheeks, pulling her close.

you love exploring the world

it’s just so pretty. a lot prettier than space, in your opinion.

you’re not really as passionate about it like sersi is, you just like exploring new places.

lately though, it’s been a hassle trying to do that.

it’s like suddenly everyone needs you for something.

makkari notices pretty quickly (because she wanted to ask you out, but said you were too busy)

she can see how disappointed you get when you’re about to leave then someone calls you

it makes her sad to see you sad

she comes up with a plan to get everyone off your back

the very next morning, you decide to just stay in all day and help out

since that seems to be what everyone else wants

but it seems makkari has other plans

“y/n! there you are. come with me, i have something to show you!”

you’re surprised, not in a bad way just .. surprised

she didn’t want you to help or do something for her, she just wanted to show you something

either way, you’d do anything for her

you go with her anyway, it wouldn’t hurt to check whatever she wanted to show you

she’s holding your hand as you two walk through a forest

you can hear your heart beating so loudly, you wonder if she could feel it

“close your eyes and get on me.”

“why?”

“just do it!” makkari insists, who are you to say no to her?

you nervously hop on her back and close your eyes.

where on earth could she be taking you?

makkari lets you down, indicating you were there

you open your eyes, then you’re in a completely different place

it’s so pretty . . just like the woman who brought you here

it’s an open field with a ton of flowers, definitely far from where the others were

“where are we?”

“a nice place i found yesterday, just tell me when you wanna go somewhere else.”

“what? go somewhere else?”

“we’re exploring the world, y/n.”

you feel so loved

. . you don’t even notice you’re tearing up

“y/n— are you okay?”

out of impulse, you kiss her quickly

“thank you, makkari.”

she’s a little dazed for a while, the shock of the kiss settling in

you realize what you’d done, but as you’re about to apologize, she kisses you again

this time a lot more passionate

“i’ve been wanting to ask you out for a long time, but i never figured out how.”

“this can be our first date, then.”

visiting all sorts of places with her while the sun’s up.

Kate hears distinct chatter coming from the roof as she climbs up the stairs. As she nears the door to the roof, she has a gut-feeling that she recognizes the voice that wasn’t Clints. She shrugs it off and opens the door, focusing on Clint first.

“Hey! I got your text, it sounded pretty serious–but I’m not sure you need.. Me… Uh-” Kate slows down when she sees who was talking to Clint. You freeze up, realizing that you’d taken off your mask earlier and forgot to put it back on. Without missing a beat, you quickly search your pockets for it, slapping it on your face haphazardly as soon as you find it.

Clint purses his lips as Kate walks up to you and carefully peels the mask off your face. “Babe. I already saw you. Don’t even try.” She sounds serious, but you could see the hint of excitement in her eyes. You laugh awkwardly, looking to Clint for help. He does nothing, instead walking away to give you and Kate some space.

You look back at Kate, smiling. Your brain runs a billion miles per hour trying to think of something–anything to say to her. “Er, uh, Katie, look, I can explain–” You inhale deeply, blushing hard when you realize Kate’s been holding your face this whole time. She stays quiet, her stare piercing into your soul.

“Okay, uh, please don’t be mad! I know I said I had plans with a friend today, and I did–Clint was the one who called me with a ‘big emergency’.” You pause for a second to look at Clint. “A bank robbery is NOT an ‘avengers-level threat’ by the way!” You yell, Clint rolls his eyes. “It's a super-powered bank robbery!” He yells back. You give up, looking back at Kate.

“I promise, I was gonna tell you about all of this!” You frown, Kate raises her eyebrow. “..but you became a superhero too! So I held off for a bit, I was thinking you’d understand!” You grin slightly, growing worried at Kate’s silence. “I–I understand if you’re mad at me, I should’ve told you a lot sooner but I was kinda worried you wouldn’t like me if I did. I know you love superheroes and stuff–Actually, now that I think about it, you kind of just like Hawkeye. Either way, I wasn’t sure what you’d think of me after you find out about all my powers and stuff!”

Kate rolled her eyes, grinning wide. You were a bit confused, and she could tell. Kate gives you a big kiss before exploding with every thought and question that crossed her mind. You laughed, feeling a little stupid that Kate Bishop would be mad at you for being a superhero.

“Okay, girls. I know you two are having a moment but there’s a bunch of super-powered people robbing a bank right now!” Clint reminds the two of you. Kate groans, knowing that her questions have to wait.
