This is the first time Yayoi Kusama held an exhibition in Jakarta. Yayoi Kusama: Life is the Heart of a Rainbow is organized by National Gallery Singapore and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane, Australia in collaboration with Museum Macan (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara), which is an art museum in Jakarta that provides public access to collections of modern and contemporary art from Indonesia and around the world. The exhibition held from May 12th until September 9th 2018.

The first time I knew about this exhibition was from one of Indonesian actress, she went to the exhibition in Singapore last year. And I asked to myself, ‘will they make it in Jakarta?’, because I really hope so! So, long story short, I follow Museum Macan’s Instagram account and one day they posted about Yayoi Kusama’s exhibition. I screamed my lungs out that day, can’t wait to go there!

I went there on the first day of the exhibition. Coincidentally, it was on Saturday, and it was crowded as hell. But I still enjoy the whole exhibition (except for the Infinity Room because the queue was way too long). I can’t explain the experience that I had because it was so magical, like you just went to another world; Yayoi Kusama’s world. The point is, I’m glad that I went there and I think I will go there again!
