everything was different now. pietro was gone. she was an avenger. there was a team of people to support her and to help her through this but there was nothing that any of them could say that could speed her grieving process. watching everyone you’ve ever loved die before your eyes leaves you with an incurable feeling of survivors guilt -- and wanda bore that weight upon shaking, thin shoulders even more so now with the passing of her brother.
still dressed in black, she sat crumpled in the tightest corner of her room she could find. the shadows clinging to her. the only blanket she could find that fit every nook of her body was just that -- darkness. around her lay various bits of broken glass and wood, among other things, where her powers had surged from nightmares replaying that dreadful moment that pietro fell to the ground or when she’d turn to find him and there was nothing but a whisper of his scent. though, that whisper wasn’t enough to calm her. she was certain nothing would.
though, when her door burst open and a figure stood in the doorway the witch coward. she’d told them dozens of times to leave her alone.. but it wasn’t an avenger who let in that pesky light. a familiar voice broke through the darkness with her name.
without a single word leaving her lips, a sob quaked and she flew to his arms, clinging to his shirt with all the strength that she could manage. tears left rivers on her face as she hid in his chest to quiet the gut wrenching sobs.
harry had been there for them both time and time again. now, it was just her -- guilt ridden and tired. but she couldn’t find the words to apologize yet... the only thing she knew was that she needed her brother... or the next closest thing she could get.
