chapter 26 is up! chapter summary - the ravens snap back after andrew speaks to the press
fic summary:
“If I went to Evermore for break, Riko would pull Proust. I told him I’d go, but I’d need proof of him holding up his end of the deal. When I got to Evermore, Proust was dealt with.”
Andrew felt his world tilt on its axis. He tried to parse through his days at Easthaven to determine when Proust was replaced by the new doctor and realized it happened a few weeks into his stay - before the Foxes began break. Meaning Neil was telling the truth. But he couldn’t be. He couldn’t have gone through whatever happened in the Nest for Andrew. People didn’t shield Andrew from tragedy; they used him to protect themselves.
Like he could hear the battle in Andrew’s head, Neil murmured, “You always have our backs – I needed to watch yours.”

chapter 14 is out!!! enjoy some fluff as i start wrapping this one up :)Â
fic summary:
“Neil died in Baltimore” Andrew and “The Moriyamas killed Andrew as a warning” Neil meet seven years after Neil was taken in Baltimore.
~~
It's been seven years since the Moriyamas killed Andrew and Neil slipped their leash for Japan. He's spent the time since dismantling their empire as retribution for Andrew's death. Now, more Nathaniel than Neil, he returns to South Carolina looking for something to live for.
After Neil died in Baltimore, Andrew let his apathy take over - if feeling meant an endless pit of grief, he didn't want it. After Ichirou dies and the Moriyamas fall, he wonders if anyone would notice if he dissapeared.

cannot fathom people who don’t understand neil’s protective streak. what do you mean you don’t have people you’d flay yourself open for, again and again. how do you see it as recklessness when really, it’s a careful calculation except it’s one where you always come out on the bottom because your people will always come first. always.
he cares for them more than life itself and that’s why he runs his mouth on live tv. why he goes to evermore. why he leaves quietly instead of putting up a fight.
neil josten loves and he loves to a fault. if you can’t see that, i don’t know how to help you
do you think wymack telling kevin you’re not just a fox, you’re kayleigh’s son was the first time kevin had heard his mother’s name mentioned with such care since she died?
in the nest it was listen to me. we play like ravens. no, what your mother said doesn’t matter. she didn’t invent this sport - i did. run the drill again. again.
nights spent staring at the ceiling while riko slept beside him, begging his mother for forgiveness because he knew that the way he played, dirty and always holding himself back, would disappoint her.
(wymack seeing the ghost of kayleigh in how kevin catches. the raven’s couldn’t beat her legacy out of him, no matter how hard they tried)
my grief for you is overflowing. it’s pouring out of me and trickling down my arms when i try to catch it in my palms. it’s dripping from my fingers and pooling on the floor. it’s up to my knees now
i think, soon, i’ll be drowning in it. tell me - has the water always been this red?
