being really fast at math when you write it out, but taking 62.476 seconds to do 3 x 8 when someone asks you

you either hate odd numbers or you love them and this is causes great division of math nerds

teachers start teaching on the first day and assign homework

working with chemicals is only fun if it a) explodes, b) requires a bunsen burner, or c) turns a pretty color (like pink)

catching yourself using math in the real world and thinking “oh my god *insert 2nd grade teacher’s name here* was right”

not knowing you have a favorite animal until the existence of the water bear is made known in biology

getting excited when you can use a calculator

realizing that using a calculator means the test questions will be harder

one of your parents is good at math/science and the other is not

the textbooks are larger than any other subject

there’s always one historic figure in the subject that feels like a favorite uncle/aunt even though they’ve been dead for 105 years

the teachers don’t go in order of the chapters so you never know what to expect when you walk into class

there’s so many quizzes that you could fail three of them and get a solid A+ anyway

take a nap. you’re refreshing ur body and ur mind so if u need it, don’t hesitate to take a nap

watch a tv show in the language you’re learning. u will pick up some stuff just by listening if u already have a basic knowledge of the language, and it’s a good way to practice ur listening comprehension

read a book

clean ur room/desk/house/kitchen/etc.

do some laundry

eat something if u haven’t already

go for a walk. +5 productivity points if u take a dog w u. it doesn’t have to be ur dog. just /a/ dog ;)

take a shower/bath but like. do the whole thing. hair, body, face, shave if u want, use a bath bomb, etc.  brush ur teeth and put lotion on when you’re done

organize your school binders

play an instrument

clean out ur closet

call a friend/relative

plan out ur week/weekend/day

search on wikipedia smth ur interested in and keeping clicking on the links in the articles until u learn smth new

go for a run/workout

paint or draw smth. doesn’t have to be good, just get ur pen on the page and move ur hand around

go thru ur spotify playlists and take out all the songs that u skip too often

bake a cake

sometimes it seems like u can’t have down time/relaxation without feeling like you’re wasting time. here’s some ways to be “productive” even when u don’t wanna do much. also. remember that taking breaks are important and u don’t need an excuse to be unproductive either

it’s about working with the procrastination, not curing it. this is pretty much tailored entirely to essay-writing, which is pretty much the only thing I use this for. if you have any pointers to add, reblog!

ur textbooks and notebooks, duh

water bottle

pencil bag with at least 3 pencils or black/blue pens and 1 red pen. highlighters too, preferably in a couple different colors. a pink eraser because they work better than anything else i’ve used. if u take car/house keys to school this is a pretty good place for them too

reliable earbuds

phone and charger

ur computer if u use one and a charger

a reading book in case u get bored

keep at least $25 for emergencies in ur backpack and then add to it whenever u know you’re gonna need to buy lunch or something

ur student id, license, and library card
