yaku (guard dog) (threatening): nobody is saying that to you.

Kuroo is not longer dating Morisuke but when he gets a call at midnight from one of Yaku's sibilings asking if he could pick him up Kuroo doesn't think twice. He doesn't think twice when one of them needs to move stuff into his college dorm, even if Kuroo is super busy with JVA stuff, because is volleyball season and Morisuke couldn't fly back to japan to help his brother move.

and god it drives Yaku insane. Because of course despite everything he can count on Kuroo, he can trust him with the two most important persons in his life. it makes him fall in love all over again.

yaku: she is the bane of my existence and i need her dead. [laying her jacket on the floor so kuroo can sit and rest when they’re at a line that takes a second too long]

Kuroo reached for his drink, holding the cool aluminum in his hands. “Yeah, I'm good, just a bit tired.”

“You can go to sleep if you want. I don't mind.”

“Yeah, with how you drive, no thanks.”

Yaku's face grew into a scowl. "I drive just fine, thank you.”

Kuroo let out a victorious snicker. Getting under Yaku's skin was one of the many joys in life.

It had been this way forever, teasing, prodding, and pissing each other off. It was a love language, and both of them understood that.

There are only so many times you can bicker about the same thing before it gets stale, but somehow it never does for them. Kuroo loved that about Yaku, how he kept him on his toes, always finding a way to excite him despite the six years they had known each other.

They'd been on plenty of trips before, for school and training camps but this is the first time they'd ever done something like this. Kuroo didn't think much of it at first, but the more he mulled it over it felt almost romantic.

It was nice, just being the two of them, maybe it was a little twisted, but Kuroo liked having Yaku alone just to himself. with him, beside him, not separated by distance or people.

“Thanks for this by the way”

Yaku gives an exaggerated eye roll followed by a smile that tugs at the corner of his lips revealing one of his dimples “You are such a sap”

“Hey I just wanted to express my gratitude” Kuroo put a hand on his chest in mock offense

“Gratitude for what?”

“Taking me with you”
