So let me tell you guys a story.
Over a decade ago, I first discovered let’s plays. I was browsing DA when someone I followed mentioned a Let’s Player by the name of Mangaminx. I ate up all her content, and she is the reason I ever got into video games. The first game I played after putting my PS1 controller down was Dead Space. Only because I watched her play it. Then I played Silent Hill, and soon I’d fallen into the rabbit hole. I branched out not long after, picking up Assassins Creed of my own volition and discovering my favorite series of all time, as well as Bioshock and a few others.
I stopped watching Minx’s videos a while back, mostly as she’d re-branded into a sort of style that wasn’t really my speed. No hard feelings though, I stayed resolutely subscribed, just never watched her videos.
This year I went through something I’d never expected to happen, and feeling a little lost, I went wandering around YouTube again, just clicking on videos in my subscription feed to try and distract myself. And what did I find? Minx playing one of my original favorites, and in a style that took me right back to high school when I watched her videos before bed.
It sounds cheesy and silly, but it was like coming home. So this is for you, Minx. I’m not great at fan-art, and I find I never finish anything anymore, but consider this a thanks for sticking around. For being yourself. For just happening to be there when I needed you to be.
