8 | HKB-3 1
Information flooded in. Confounding. It had been hundreds of years since he was last activated. Surely everyone he knew was long dead. New âownersâ, then.
So why hadnât they done a memory wipe?
He could only assume that they didnât know he hadnât been wiped already. Perhaps they tried, and it didnât take.Â
Regardless, they would certainly reset him if they found out. He decided to play along.
His retinal interface booted up. He scanned his surroundings. Hyperspace. Cargo ship. Crew of four. Twi'lek female. Human male. Human male. Selkath male.
The Twi'lek female hovered over him, taking readings â shipâs mechanic. The two human males stood nearby. One of them leaned casually against the wall, while the other shifted uncomfortably. The casual one wore expensive clothes â captain, perhaps? The shifty human and the Selkath both carried lightsabers â strange.
He scanned himself. An HKB-3 chassis. Assassin droid. What did they want with an assassin droid?
He spoke. His voice was deep and harsh. âDesignation HKB-3. Define âmasterâ.â
The casual man spoke up. âThat would be me,â he said.
The Twi'lek threw her hands into the air. âHey, I built him.â
âYeah, but I bought him. That makes him mine.â
HKB-3 was starting to grasp the situation. They were idiots. â'Masterâ defined. Thank you. Define 'assignmentâ.â
The Twi'lek looked up at the casual man spitefully. âAlright, boss man. Since youâre in charge, what do you think he should do.â
The casual one shrugged. âDruk, I donât know. Guard the ship?â
Definitely idiots. â'Assignmentâ defined. Thank you. I will now patrol the ship.â HKB-3 stood up, and started walking down the hall.
Escaping wouldnât be difficult.
