i really appreciate that domestic anxiety you see realized by misora and sento. the recognition between siblings that something is very wrong in your household but you don't yet want to/know how to put it to words because it is so daunting and so close to you. that feeling of maybe if i hold still, this house with remain a home.

it's particularly well-illustrated in that conversation between stalk and misora where he's passing through nascita and he has to cover for why he's there. misora already knows; him being caught out-of-place is just another nail in the coffin. but what else can you do but to let that crumbling feeling pass through your fingers?

you get the sense after sento's interaction with stalk that he truly feels that the situation is so irreparably hopeless. the finality of "this home is lost. this country will be lost." and the way it begets an alike terribleness (an inherited dreadfulness, the snake at your shoulder) in sento is crystal clear in the moment. it's what pushes him to that painful confrontation with misora.

you get the sense that he truly, truly doesn't want to hurt her (more than anything; as her friend, as a fellow member of this family, and someone so similarly and horrifyingly at the heart of this tragedy, sento wants to protect her). he knows very well how painful placing this on her is, but the situation is so far gone and so immense and he's already failed so bitterly before.

the way he almost scrambles for sympathy in the moment seems to ring of "you understand, don't you? as someone else here, don't you know why it needs to be this way? can you share the burden?"
