18:36? Still? Mark thought as he walked out of the huge JYP building. He stuffed his phone back in his pocket and kept it there, as it was still freezing cold despite the sun hadn’t gone down that long ago. He looked around and saw couples everywhere, pale-faced and warmly dressed, cuddled up while drinking hot chocolate and coffee. Seeing couples like that gave him the idea to stop by his girlfriend’s place on the way home; after all, it was early, and it’d been a while since he and his girlfriend had gotten to spend quality time together. With this goal in mind, he sped up in the direction of her house, a short walking distance away.

He stopped outside the door and rang the doorbell before whipping out his phone again. I’m outside, babe. Practice ended early, wanna go grab dinner? He had barely pressed ‘Send’ when the door swung wide open and he was overwhelmed by a huge bear hug.

“Hi, G/F/N,” he muffled into her hair, appreciating her warmth.

“You’ll have to come in for a minute,” she said, stepping back into the house, “I haven’t exactly left the house all day so... I’m still in my pajamas.” Mark looked down and laughed at the fuzzy Minnie Mouse pajama bottoms she’d chosen to wear. She slapped his arm playfully and laughed before grabbing his hand and leading him inside.

Mark made himself comfortable, as usual. He sat in the small armchair next to the bedroom window as he watched her pick out her outfit, giving his input here and there when she asked for it.

“Babe, can you grab my keys from my bedside drawer? We should warm up the car before heading out,” she said as she shuffled into the bathroom to put on a basic face of makeup.

“Sure thing.” Mark opened up the drawer and grabbed the keys, but not before he knocked over a piece of paper that was covering up a small bottle. Making sure his girlfriend wasn’t looking, he picked up the bottle and read the label. Prenatal Vitamins with Calcium and Iron Supplement.

Prenatal vitamins?!

Mark thought back to the last time he and his girlfriend had gotten intimate. Had he used a condom? She was on the pill right? She had to be. She wouldn’t do anything risky, especially since they’d only been dating for about a year. Shit, he thought, she didn’t even tell me. Has she been upset with me? I haven’t called her enough. I haven’t checked on her at all lately, and-

“Mark? You alright?” she called out. Mark looked up just in time to see her leave the bathroom. It didn’t take long for her to notice the look on his face and the bottle of pills in his hands.

“Um, depends on how you answer my question,” he replied. “My question being: what are these for?”

She sighed, and grabbed the bottle from him. She grabbed both of Mark’s hands, and gave them a soft squeeze, as if she was reassuring him. Clearly, she was about to deliver bad news.

“Thing is, babe...”

“Yes?”

“The last time we had sex...”

“Mhm?”

“I don’t know if you remember, but I didn’t exactly-”

“G/F/N, how long have you been pregnant and why haven’t you told me?” Mark’s heart began to beat faster and he could feel his body getting warm.

“Let me finish,” she said, her expression dead serious. “You see, the last time we had sex, I didn’t exactly...” She took a deep breath and- “take care of my hair so whenever you brushed your fingers through my hair, I knew it couldn’t have felt good so I decided to take vitamins for it.” After she finished, she let out a huge laugh, and fell back on the bed.

“You... OMIGOD G/F/N YOU ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK!” Mark exclaimed, jumping off the armchair and pinning his girlfriend’s hands to the bed and kissing all over her face. “I THOUGHT YOU WOULD BE SO UPSET WITH ME!”

“You really thought I was that much of an idiot? Of course I was on the pill, Mark Tuan,” she giggled.

After a bit more laughter and a bit more scolding, Mark and his girlfriend finally went out to brave the cold.
