little things
Life is about the small moments of happiness. And your small moment of happiness is nothing more than enjoying a quiet picnic with Doyoung on a sunny day.

nari-note: this is also my way of telling you that itâs okay to take life at your own pace and appease your inner child. strive for your definition of happiness, never someone elseâs version. and if you donât know what that looks like for you, thatâs okay too. life is worth living until you figure it out. also get you partners that donât think youâre too much because youâre amazing. ok rant over, enjoy.
âI know youâre in the middle of vocal practice,â you said once Doyoung picked up your call after the second ring, âbut can I come over?â
âYou miss me that much?â Doyoung cooed, the sound waves from Doyoungâs laugh tickled your ear through the phone.Â
âMaybe...â you said, letting your voice trail off in slight embarrassment from the confession.Â
âYou know what,â Doyoung said, âI have a better idea.â You could almost feel his sly smile through the phone.
âYeah?â You hummed, noting the sound of a chair scraping and presuming Doyoung just got up.
âYeah,â Doyoung chuckled. âLetâs go on a picnic!â
âWha...I swear, what if we get caught?â You pouted. You were both idols for goodness sake. The fact that the two of you became an item was an open secret; there was no reason to upset the current precarious balance youâre both dealing with.
âNot if we went to that secret place by the Han River we used to go to during our trainee days.â His voice of reason was too convincing.
âTrust me, y/n. Itâll be fun. Donât you miss taking this kind of time for yourself?â
You paused at his question. âMaybe...I guess we really both got so busy with work, didnât we?â
âExactly. I know how hard you worked,â Doyoung said, his tone getting gentler. âWe should be take time for ourselves and invest time in those little things again. Those little moments that made it feel like everything would be okay.â
You let out an airy laugh, amazed at how poetic and mature Doyoung can get. âAlright, letâs do it.â
âYay! See you soon,â he cheered.
You hung up after responding in affirmation.
The walk over to spot was just as you remembered. Despite your worries, you realized the walk really did help you calm down. The baby hairs framing your beautiful face started clinging slightly to your skin. You decided the simple fact that youâll see Doyoung soon made it all worth it. His smile when he saw you confirmed that decision.Â
You took a running start and crashed into his open arms. As you both embraced tightly, your giggles were the only thing you could hear against the melodic background chorus of cicadas and the lapping of water against the grass.Â
With Doyoungâs arms wrapped securely around you, no matter what stresses came your way, everything just might be okay.Â
