My submission for Kaidan Porn Day! better late than never

Takes place post- Priority: Tuchanka as well as in the middle of Heaven and Hell Were Words To Me (part of my vega/ryder series) but no prior knowledge is needed for the story. Enjoy!

Rose Shepard shuffled into the starboard lounge and over to the bar that Cerberus had installed but, for some reason, hadn’t been removed during the retrofit. Moving on autopilot, she went for the bottle of serrice ice brandy that had been smuggled aboard by someone and EDI had told her about- grabbing a glass before opening the bottle and pouring a hefty measure.

Tuckanka had been a shitshow; the intel had been bad from the start, the Reaper forces had almost been too much, Ryder had been injured trying to protect her, and Mordin…

At the thought of Mordin, Rose nearly let the glass drop from her hand- setting it heavily down on the bartop. Bunching up the sleeves of the hoodie she was wearing, she pressed her hands to her eyes while leaning forwards- determined not to cry in a public area of the ship.

She was so wrapped up in trying to keep it together that she didn’t hear the door open, straightening up sharply when a hand lightly touched her back, jerking her hands down and turning around. Seeing that it was Kaidan, Rose relaxed and gave him a sad smile.

“You okay?” Kaidan asked softly, taking in Rose’s slightly disheveled appearance; her hair left loose, wearing one of his hoodies that was clearly too big for her (not that he minded, but she usually kept those confined to her cabin), and eyes bright with unshed tears.
