For a moment, it looked like he had been defeated. Ikura let out a sigh of relief, moving to go embrace her love.Â
As she had briefly pulled away to say something, she saw that, much to her horror....Saburo had survived.
He was still standing there, his armor hissing as it cooled off. âYou honestly thought....that you could simply defeat me!?â Saburoâs skin slowly began bubbling regenerating, and he dusted himself off. âI am all powerful! How are you supposed to beat the very force that created you?!âÂ
Ikuraâs eyes widened. âWhat?! No!â She clenched her fist. âI donât care how many times we have to do it! Weâll beat you together!âÂ
KozKoz nodded. âThatâs right! We can always win as long as we have each other!âÂ
âGrrrâŚ.fine then! If you still want to be defiant, so be it! I will make you suffer until you learn your place!â Saburo fired of a blast of energy from his hand, aiming straight for KozKoz.
âLook out!â Ikura pulled out of her embrace with her love and shoved her aside, taking the shot for her. There was a large explosion as it hit, tossing the Hakase backwards and making her skid for several feet before coming to a stop.
âI-Ikura-chan?â Kozue weakly asked, voice wavering.
Smoke rose off of Ikura as the dust settled, the valley going silent. She didnât move.
âPleaseâŚ.get upâŚ.! This isnât funny!â The other woman cried, looking over to her love.
Despite her pleas, thoughâŚ.Ikura was motionless.
Saburo began to laugh. âHow the mighty have fallen!â He threw his head back, cackling. âFor too long, she defied my will, refusing to stay in her role! NowâŚ.sheâs dead! Gahahahahaha!!â
He began to advance towards Kozue, who just scrambled backwards. She was still in shock over what had just happened; in one fell swoop, her girlfriend had been killed and tossed aside like she was nothing.
âD-donâtâŚyou fucking touch herâŚâ A voice from behind Saburo weakly said.Â
Ikura rolled over, struggling to push herself up. There was a large hole in the lower part of her top from where sheâd been hit, and her labcoat was tattered. Several burns covered the skin on her abdomen.
Saburo halted, spinning on his heel to face the Hakase. âWhat?! How did you survive that?!â He clenched his fist, shaking in anger.Â
Managing to lift herself with one knee, Ikura used an arm to brace herself as she stood up, holding her side. She was panting a bit, staring at the villain with contempt and determination.
Licking her lips, she narrowed her eyes. âBecauseâŚ.I made a promise to myself.â
She had already been covered in bruises from Mirror Knight keeping her captured, but now she was also covered in cuts from being thrown across the rock quarry. In multiple places she was bleeding, and she was covered in soot. Her platinum blonde hair was strewn about in a messy fashion, part of it draping over her left shoulder.Â
âI promised myself that I would be the woman that Kozue needed. Someone to hold her when she was scared; to give her a shoulder to cry on when she was sadâŚ.and to be someone that she could have faith in!âÂ
Wiping away the blood from her lip with her forearm, Ikura wavered a bit due to how weak she was. However, this didnât stop her. If anything, it only encouraged her to keep going.Â
âOnce before, I lost her due to how foolish I was. I promised myselfâŚ.never again! I want only the best for herâŚand half-assing it wonât cut it! Thatâs whyâŚ..thatâs whyâŚ.!â
She stepped forwards, limping with her right leg. âThatâs why I survived! BecauseâŚwhen the chips are down, and everything is bleakâŚI want to be there for her!â Despite the overwhelming pain she was feeling, Ikura pushed onwards.
âIkura-chanâŚ.!â Kozue whispered, tearing up. She clasped her hands together.Â
âI want to be someone she can trust, even when the odds are against us!â The Hakase stepped forwards again, getting louder. She was standing more upright now, wincing at the pain that was racking her torso as she pushed onward.
âImpossible! Youâre just a nobody! You should be dead!â Saburo furiously interjected.
âHehâŚ.seeâŚ.â Ikura raised her head slightly, smirk now apparent. ââŚyou just raised the flags for my victory!â
Saburo faltered some, stepping backwards. âW-what?!â
âI realized...I couldnât beat you on my own. Youâre right. I may be powerless against you. But thereâs one force that even the most powerful of villains canât deny- narrative causality!â Ikura holds up her right arm, raising a lone finger. â1: The hero takes a fatal blow meant for a loved one.â She looks to KozKoz, smiling. KozKoz smiles back.Â
The Hakase raises a second finger. â2: The hero survives a fatal blow!â Sheâs becoming more confident as she continues, voice getting louder. â3: The villain declares what just transpired is impossible!âÂ
She steps forwards again, raising a fourth finger. â4: The hero declares why theyâre fighting!â Ikuraâs smile breaks out into a grin.Â
âYou can beat me all you wantâŚ.you can try to assassinate me, write me out of reality, whateverâŚ.but that doesnât change the reasons why Iâm fighting. The reason Iâm fightingâŚ..!â She grit her teeth, jabbing a thumb at herself. âIS BECAUSE I LOVE HER! Thatâs why! Even after all these years, thatâs why Iâve persisted- at the end of the day, I wasnât living for myself like you think I do! I was living for her! Hatte SaburoâŚ.I will defeat you, for good! To protect her smile!â
Standing up straight now, Ikura curls her hands into fists, bringing them to her left hip. âChou!â Â
Raising her right fist, she moves it in an arc above her head, before crossing her arms. âKenzoku!âÂ
Finally, she thrusts her arms outwards, uncrossing them. âHenka!â
And, just like that, the Armored Avenger has appeared! In .0384 seconds, the Japanium armor has covered Ikura, transforming her into the cool hero that fights evil in the name of the name of her love for KozKoz! The transformation was so fast, however, we didnât see what happened. Letâs take a closer look.
Ikura curls her hands into fists, bringing them to her left hip. Raising her right fist, she moves it in an arc above her head, before crossing her arms, then thrusting them outwards. She punctuates each movement with part of her transformation cry. âChou! Kenzoku! Henka!â
A satellite dish on top of the Secret Base Cafe fires out a beam thatâs reflected up into the atmosphere, which is then reflected off another satellite. The beam of energy pierces through the overcast, oppressive atmosphere Saburo had conjured, sunlight bursting through the hole it had blast in the cloud cover before the beam hits Ikura, sending out a shockwave as she is enveloped in energy. The battle armor begins appearing on her, the tech across it lighting up as different parts whir and settle into place, letting out firm âkachunksâ when they lock in.
âKoz-chanâŚno! Kozue! I wonât let this monster, nor anyone else come between us ever again! I want to be with you, always!â Kyusha clenched her right hand, raising it before swinging it outwards, raising her right arm above her head.Â
âMaster Change!â
A crimson tower of light erupted from her, rocketing off into infinity. Two massive columns of energy formed in response, one azure and the other emerald.Â
âFinal Code! Converge!â The Armored Avenger cried, the three structures merging together in a dazzling display of shifting lights. The monolithic chromatic inferno rapidly descended upon the defiant heroine, her form lit up by the dancing spectrums shimmering across her body. A heavily armored, yet clumsily designed form began to become defined.Â
âIkura!â KozKoz cried out, scrambling to her feet and cupping her hands around her mouth. âI love you too! I want to be together with you forever!! I feel happy and at peace when Iâm with youâŚyou complete me!! PleaseâŚfinish this fight! Come home safe!âÂ
As this occurred, a pink burst fired outwards from KozKoz, hitting Kyusha. The outline in the light began to slim and streamline, the features becoming more focused and defined. Wings folded out from her back, verniers appearing above them.Â
There had been a chance the merging process would have backfired and created a devastating explosion. In her current state, likely it would have killed her. But maybeâŚsomething else had made this happen. Something more than just good design or everything going right.Â
It could only be described as a miracle- a miracle brought on by love.Â
âWhat is this?!â Saburo cried, frustration apparent in his voice. Even in the end, she still denied his directions! Why!? Why wouldnât she bend to his will?! Attempting to stop this form change while it was still underway, he thrust a hand outwards, firing a single shot outwards at Kyusha. It hit the column of light, but it rebounded off and hit the ground around him instead, making him flinch and duck.
âNice attempt at subverting tropes- but you trying to stop me means you know whatâs happening! Youâre a writer yourself! This is the 5th victory flagâŚ.the debut of my final form!â Kyusha declared, pointing at Saburo. âThisâŚis Kyusha, Mode Omega!â
A shockwave fired outwards as the column of light exploded, raining down millions of glorious silver glitterlike light particles.
The camera quickly cut between multiple angles of the new suit of armor. Its polished silver plating shined in the daylight, the gleaming orange eyes on the helmet showing no fear.Â
Holding up a hand, Kyusha looked at it, clenching her fist and nodding. âIâll show youâŚ! Iâll show you the power of our love! KozueâŚ.wait for me! Iâm going to come home alive!â
Saburo held up a fist, sparking with power. âWeâll see about that!âÂ
Lightning shot down from the sky, impacting multiple spots in the ground between the heroine and her nemesis. Monsters began to pull themselves out of the ground- ones that Kyusha had defeated before.Â
GingakeinosaikĹkyĹŤkyokunobesutonanbÄkorekutÄningenbunkanoshĹsan-shawaintochÄŤzutesutÄgokinonakama (aka Gokiburi-seijin, Christmas Demon Krampus, Vesper, BĹŤtoregumitsubaisurushĹhinfurirunekkutokage (Bootleg Lizard from the summer movie), and Nâs aggregate form. Hundreds of Wotajaegers (the strange grunts that seem to appear periodically) surged forth from behind the writer.
âJust you watch....! Iâm going to end your reign of terror once and for all!â With a running start, Kyusha jumped into the air, the six wings unfolding from their stored state and igniting, leaving behind a stream of white energy in her wake.Â
She did a complete twirl in midair, because shut up final form debut means being extra. Flicking her wrists, beam broadswords erupted from the projectors on her forearms. Gokiburi-seijin and Vesperâs monstrous selves took flight to meet her, Vesper firing her stingers repeatedly at Kyusha. Gokiburi-seijin attempted to entrap the Metal Heroine within his untold amount of limbs, but she was too swift for them to even touch. Every stinger was sliced through, every limb slipped past.
Kyusha made one of the beam broadswords disappear, and she flew straight upwards, raising her right arm. A beam drill that was twice her size appeared, and she took a moment to stare at it shock. âHuh? I was just thinking itâd be cool if I had a drill, and here it is! I wonder....â She made the drill begin to whir, and underneath the helmet, Ikura couldnât help but grin.Â
Several of Vesperâs stingers get fired at her, and Kyusha only looks up in time. She braces for impact, but then looks up when she doesnât feel it. The wings had folded over to block the shots. âAlright- I think I get it now!â Unfurling the wings, Kyusha dove towards Gokiburi-seijin and Vesper.Â
She weaved in and out of the rather sharp limbs attempting to cut her into ribbons, slashing a few with the beam broadsword still active on her left forearm. Extending the drill outwards, she began chasing after Vesper. In response, the gigantic bee monster began unleashing hundreds of stingers to throw the heroine off her tail- Macross Missile Massacre levels of stingers, at that! Â
What followed was an Itano Circus of epic proportions as Kyusha dove, zipped, and twirled her way past the relentless stingers, which continued to home in on her. It took some quick maneuvering and split-second reactions to force the stingers to crash into each other to clear the air a bit. âAlright, enough maneuvering....Iâve got better things to do than stylistic homages!â The drill revved up, loudly whirring as Kyusha accelerated, leaving a trail of what looked like stardust behind her as she rocketed off towards Vesper. Arcing upwards, she pierced through the beeâs midsection, tearing it in half with a resounding explosion.Â
Kyusha emerged from the inferno, dismissing the drill and creating a beam broadsword to go back to the twin sword style sheâd been using initially. She tore towards Gokiburi-seijin, blades clashing with his deadly slicers as he repeatedly attempted to impale her. What attacks she couldnât block with the swords, her wings took. While she was furiously slashing at him, he was blocking just as much, and vice versa. They continued to trade blows, until Kyusha spun in a circle, releasing tons of light from her afterburners and knocking away the razorlike limbs. She quickly zoomed in, swooping downwards to avoid the vicious alien monsterâs quick attempt to bite her, and ramming her weapons through what she was pretty sure was his throat. Pulling them upwards, she made the blades dissipate and quickly boosted away as the insectoid erupted into multiple explosions.
Descending back towards the ground, Kyusha entered the hoard of Wotajaegers, creating twin blasters that were mounted on her forearms. She touched down, intentionally letting her feet skid on the ground and half-gliding along as she shot up all the grunts, firing indiscriminately. Taking some inspiration from VOTOMs, she rotated around, still moving in the same direction she had been. Swaying back and forth, she spread her shots across the crowd, each energy bullet hitting their mark. Sparks flew everywhere as the Wotajaegers took this relentless assault, succumbing in waves to the heroic side of the Worf Effect.Â
Doing a backflip, she spread her arms, firing at grunts off to the side of her. Landing, she spun around before lifting off and kicking the thrusters into overdrive as the waves of grunts began to fall in chain explosions, creating a cacophony of fire and thunder. It was if judgement day had arrived in the form of a single woman.
Seeing this, Krampus and Bootleg Lizard began firing at her repeatedly with what they had, though Kyusha was able to nimbly evade their shots, still advancing ever forwards. Spotting N behind them trying to collect more material for their armoring, Kyusha raised both her arms. She created two large rifles that were the length of her arms, then slammed them together.Â
Her wings splayed open as she forcibly caused herself to slow down, charging up the twin rifles. Aiming at N, a large sphere of energy began to collect at the tip of the combined weapon, smaller bolts crackling in the electricity field it was generating. It fired, knocking Kyusha back in the air and releasing in one continuous stream. Krampus and Bootleg Lizard threw themselves aside, but N took the brunt of the attack, getting caught directly in its path.Â
For a moment, it was as if the sun had flown close to the Earth, as there was a bright white flash right when the attack was released. When all seemed to clear, though, there was only a smoking hole where N had been standing.Â
Dismissing the rifles, Kyusha looked to Krampus and Bootleg Lizard, creating two pilebunkers on her forearms. She sped in, landing and getting a sure footing. Krampus got one punch in the waist, where his belt was- which, as she remembered, stored his power. As the punch connected, the stakes in the pilebunker deployed with a loud, satisfying âKA-CHUNKâ, slamming into him with definite force. It tossed the Christmas demon back, but Kyusha wasnât done yet. She flew around, catching him from behind with an uppercut, slamming him in the back. Once more, the pilebunkers did their work, an audible snap being heard as it smashed into his back. Krampusâ momentum completely changed, now flying upwards.
Kyusha boosted past him, before finally landing a good, solid heel drop on him, slamming him into the ground. He created a crater where he landed, exploding immediately afterwards just like the rest.Â
Bootleg Lizard, not wanting to meet a similar fate, unleashing his eye beams in hopes of degrading her all-powerful new form into something akin to that of a low-quality knockoff. Kyusha looked up from finishing off Krampus, only for the beams to connect....and for nothing to happen. The Neo Japanium plating had made the attack completely ineffective- or maybe it was just that there actually had to be a distinct object for it to work. Regardless, it set in to Bootleg Lizard rather quickly that things werenât going to end well.Â
Kyusha projected a spear from one forearm, creating a beam shield with her other, and flew forwards. Bootleg Lizard began spitting fireballs, but they were all deftly deflected with the beam shield. The kaijinâs offense had a massive hole in it, and the spear went right through his wide open mouth and out the back of his head. He exploded, Kyusha finally landing and dismissing her weapons. All that left now was Hatte Saburo.
Saburo wasnât having any of this, as he began unleashing waves of energy that were headed straight for Kyusha. Unrelenting, she began running forwards, explosions going off around her as she made a mad dash for the source of all her torment. âI canât lose...! Not now....! Not ever!â She yelled in determination, charging forth even as the shots began to get dangerously close to her. With a hop, skip, and a jump, she took flight again, a large wall of explosions going off behind her just as she made it into the air. You know this is the money shot because it gets replayed several times from different angles, and once in slow motion.Â
âSABUROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!â She yelled out in anger, beam broadswords erupting from her forearms again. Wordlessly, he created the twin blades from his own forearms, and ran to meet her, leaping up at the last moment to clash blades.
Despite their completely different construction, the writerâs weapons were holding their own against the seemingly all-powerful beam projections. âI donât care what you think up with that imagination of yours,â he snarled. âAt the end of the day, I! am! GOD!âÂ
A pulse of energy shot forth from him, meant to knock Kyusha off balance. She responded by kicking her wings into overdrive, a shockwave going outwards as the two force met.Â
Finally, the sheer power between the two became too much for either to handle, and they were both thrown backwards. Kyusha recovered first, using the verniers and thrusters on her wings to right herself in midair. Saburo wasnât as lucky- he had hit the ground multiple times before skidding to a stop. âKhhh...tch! See? Even with your new form, I am still too powerful for you to handle!âÂ
Kyusha landed, using this moment of villainous boasting to her advantage and beginning to formulate a plan. âToo powerful my ass! You could barely handle me!âÂ
Saburo laughed. âBarely handle you? Oh, you stupid woman....who do you think it was that sent Mirror Knight to go torment Keiko? Who do you think it was that sent that Horror to go use Yunaâs ex as itsâ vessel? It was me....all me! I figured, if I couldnât get at you directly, Iâd bring your friends down around you just to make you despair!âÂ
Kyushaâs fists began to shake, and the beam broadswords began to glow.Â
âShut up,â she lowly growled. âYou donât know a damn thing about any of them. What, are you going to claim that the golem alien that tore Hikaruâs wings out was your idea, too?â Kyusha asked.
âOf cou-â Saburo began.Â
âBULLSHIT!â She yelled so angrily that the font grew several sizes.Â
âIâve finally figured out why you work the way you do,â she seethed, stepping forwards. She deactivated the beam broadswords, if ever so briefly, and grabbed him by his collar. âThe reason you tried to write me out of existence....!â Kyusha hit him with a mean right hook, before letting go of him and letting the writer-turned-monster stumble backwards. âThe reason you tried to assassinate me...!â She slammed another fist into his gut, before whirling on her heel and hitting him in the face with a standing roundhouse. âThe reason you kidnapped me and beat me...!âÂ
She activated the beam broadswords again, and slashed across his chest. âThe reason you tried to kill Kozue!â She slashed again, this time diagonally. âThe reason you summoned past foes in an attempt to overwhelm me!â She slashed horizontally, throwing him backwards. All the wounds sheâd been inflicting were hurting him faster than he could regenerate, and it was evident he was struggling to keep up.
âThe reason why...IS BECAUSE YOUâRE SCARED! You knew you couldnât win, and youâve always known that! Thatâs why you could never face me directly, until only now! You didnât want to see me face-to-face unless you already had the advantage!â Kyushaâs beam broadswords begin to glow, white energy beginning to radiate from them. âYou can mess with me all you want,â she growled, âbut when you mess with my friends....when you messed with my family....when you mess with my soulmate,â she continued, raising both her arms in the air. âThen Iâll never forgive you!âÂ
Kyusha clasped her hands together, and the twin beam broadswords fused together, sending out a shockwave as energy flowed forth from her heart- all the emotions she was feeling- love, anger, all of it- was driving forth her attack. The fused weapon extended far above her, to dizzying heights.
âHATTE SABURO! THIS! ENDS! NOW! GALAAAAAXY SWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORD!âÂ
Kyusha brought down her mighty weapon upon her nemesis, a resounding boom resonating outwards as it made contact with him. The Earth began to shake, cracks developing in the ground around them.
âNo! I canât die here!â He cried, fear evident as a chain reaction began to form at the point of contact. âIf you kill me, youâll bring down the whole world with you! Do you really want that?!âÂ
The blade drew closer and closer to him, until finally it cleaved him completely in two. For a moment, it seemed as if nothing had happened....but the explosion was merely delayed, like a sonic boom. Instantaneously, a gigantic explosion occurred, streaks of white and cosmic energy weaved into it. It was like the world was being born anew.Â
The old era had ended.Â
All went white, the only sound evident was ringing.
Until, finally, something came into sight. It was a lone man, sitting in an armchair. Resting on his thighs was a laptop, the back of which was plastered in stickers related to various things.
He was wearing a t-shirt with a branded pattern on it, a large logo prominent on a background of solid color. His jeans were tattered and worn, and he was completely barefoot. His hair was an unkempt mess, and his bangs drooped down over his eyes.
Saburo looked around.
That was it. Otherwise, he was in a void.
âWho....who are you?â He asked. Every time he tried to focus on the strangerâs face, it went out of focus...almost as if he wasnât supposed to see it.
âIâm the one in charge,â the stranger answered. âYou really thought you were in control?â He asked. âEverything youâve done in your plans....you were playing by my rules.â
âWhat!? How?â Saburo asked. âWho are you?! State your name!â He demanded.
âI donât have to. You already know.â As this exchange went on, the stranger was busy furiously typing, but he never broke eye contact with his visitor. âThe moment this world was created- the one you thought you were god of- I became the new âgodâ. This isnât Akibaranger. These characters are mine now. You cast her aside, and I picked her up and fleshed her out.â
Saburo fell to his knees. It was finally sinking in. âP...please! I beg of you! Iâm sorry! Spare me!âÂ
âNah,â the stranger answered, blue eyes glowing like sapphires. âYouâre too played out.â Raising a hand just to be dramatic, he brought a lone finger down on the âdeleteâ key.
Saburo was gone.
The white light became overpowering, and the stranger in the armchair was enveloped in it, before disappearing. The light faded, and as it died down, the world presented itself once more.
Kyusha stood up, looking at the ground. There was no trace of Saburo- not even an imprint where he had been laying.
Dismissing the armor in a flash, Ikura looked behind herself. KozKoz was waiting, hands folded in front of her heart. She smiled.Â
Ikura turned around, smiling back. âSorry to keep you waiting,â she said. The two stepped close together, and KozKoz embraced her love. âI knew you would come back- there wasnât a doubt in my mind.âÂ
Ikura hugged KozKoz to herself, and smiled. âKozue....I love you. I hope you know that.âÂ
KozKoz looked up. âI know,â she said, squeezing Ikura.Â
