I honestly think the reason why Phoria hates Seregil is because she actually had a thing for him when he arrived after his exile. Phoria and Korathan were both teens when Seregil began living with them, and Korathan was Seregil's first lover after the clusterfuck that had happened in his homeland. when Phoria found out I think she combined the hatred of them being together, losing a potential lover and her closest family, her twin, into the general dislike/hatred of Seregil. it's shown how much Korathan bends over backwards to keep her placated even though he firmly disagrees with how she handles things, so even after all these years he still has to walk on eggshells.

Day 14: Favorite Royal?

It would be so, so tempting to say "Klia" or "Elani", because they are such awesome, strong, kind, badass ladies, but if I think mor about it, I think it would be Korathan.

He's utterly loyal to both his sister the queen and to Skala, which means he often enough has an opinion Phoria does most certainly not like - but she listens to him. And this is important. Phoria is stubborn as an annoyed mule but Korathan manages to talk sense into her, both because he is her twin and closest to her and because he has more common sense (I bet Phoria acknowledges this. VERY grudingly). It means also, that he is utterly devoted to his youngest half-sister Klia - in a family sense. He wont stand for any harm coming to her, but if it was Klia against the queen? No guessing there.

And this obviously tears at him (because no, Poria, he doesn't always take her side. In the end he takes your side, cause imagine was fratrizide in the royal family would cause... not to mention that unlike you Kor KNOWS there'll be no reason to suspect Klia of anything sinister.)

So in that regard... he deeply loves his twin sister (and she has enough of a hold of him to end a love affair. ... at least in their youth) but I can't help but think he's at least a bit relieved when she's dead and the new queen prooves much more reasonable.

... I mean, as soon as Phoria's out of town, as soon as Kor is on his own we suddenly see a very kind, if a bit stern, reasonable man who still has an obvious affection for Seregil.

He's complex, he's dignified, he carries his load without complaint, he's cool.

(also I noticed something went awry concerning liking the pictures to the artist page... damnation. Gotta fix that.)
