You watch your boyfriend’s weverse live at his request. After watching it silently for a while, you see him start to playfully flirt with his fans. Out of jealousy, you decide to send comments asking him to come over to your hotel room.

You rarely watched his Weverse lives when he went on them.
Mostly because that was his time to interact with his fans. Not that it would be a bother if you joined in on watching them. The last time you watched his live, you did so silently.
"Come on, babe." Your boyfriend whines. He had just come back to the hotel from his last show and told you that he's going live on Weverse. "Why won't you watch it?"
"Because I'm already sick of you." You playfully bicker with your boyfriend while your eyes stare at your phone screen as your thumbs twiddle against the keyboard.
"I bet you won't be sick of me anymore after seeing how I'll appear on the live." His eyebrows wiggle up and down several times as one corner of his lips curls into a smirk.
"Please don't tell me that you're going to do something stupid." You finally look away from your phone and down at your boyfriend who's laying his head on your lap looking up at you with an offended look in his eyes.
"When have I ever done anything stupid?" His eyes relax as they watch you open your mouth to say something. He immediately stops you, "Don't answer that." He lifts his head and pulls himself up on the couch and turns his body so that he's now sitting facing forward next to you.
"You're going to watch it, right?" He turns his head to his left and stares at you who's rather busy on your phone. He blinks before leaning his face in closer until his lips grab your right ear lobe. His teeth softly nibble on the edge of your ear lobe as his lips form a grin.
Your focus stays on your phone, not responding to his display of affection. You feel your boyfriend continue to softly bite your ear lobe and it does tickle, but that's about all it does to you. "If I say 'yes', will you stop tickling my ear with your teeth?" His touch is more bothersome than anything.
You aren't annoyed with your boyfriend. Frankly, you're happy that you get to spend one day close to your boyfriend before he has to leave for his next stop on tour. You just weren't in the mood.
Jeongguk softly pulls his teeth away from your ear lobe and backs his head away from yours. His left arm reaches for the back of your head and his hand strokes it softly, "I want you to watch my live. It'll make you feel better." His hand falls and he then leaves you alone on the couch to go back to his hotel room down the hall.
Ten minutes pass before you finally take your attention off of your phone and listen to your boyfriend's request of watching his live. Reaching for your iPad, you prop it up on the coffee table in front of you, open the Weverse app and join his live that had just begun five minutes ago.
The screen buffers for a few seconds due to the large volume of fans tuning into the live at the same time as you. Once the screen loads, you react immediately to what you see with a scoff.
Your boyfriend is shirtless on the live.
He's wearing the jeans and denim jacket he wore just minutes ago when he was with you. But his black t-shirt underneath the jacket is gone. His chest is bare in front of hundreds of thousands of people.
You watch your boyfriend lean forward in the video and smile before mumbling to himself, "She joined." He leans back in the chair he's sitting in and smirks, slightly raising his eyebrows to greet you discreetly.
You chuckle and lean back into the couch. You're honestly curious about where this would go.
After your boyfriend fools around for fifteen minutes, he's now moved the phone that is broadcasting the livestream to a different area of his hotel room. He leans forward to read the comments and laughs. "Why are so many people flirting with me? Should I flirt back?" He raises his eyebrows and proceeds to playfully flirt back with his fans.
After blankly and silently watching the livestream until now, his grabs your attention and makes you sit up on the couch. This playful exchange between him and his fans continues for a few minutes before you grab the iPad off of the table and rest it on your lap. Your thumbs twiddle aggressively against the tablet's keyboard as you finally decide to send a comment.
Your boyfriend pauses for a second when he suddenly recognizes a familiar username fly past twice among all of the comments that flood the livestream. "Huh? What's this?" He talks to himself while his finger scrolls up against the tens of comments that continue to come in.
"Are you having fun by yourself, Jeongguk? Of course you are. You're even flirting with your fans."
"Turn off the live already and come over to my room. I miss you."
Your boyfriend chuckles at your comments. "My girlfriend seems jealous that I'm flirting with you, ARMY. So, that's it for today. I have to go make my girl feel better. See you again soon!" He turns off the live with a two-finger salute as tens of comments fly by in the right-hand corner of the screen. Jeongguk clicks the "End Live" button on the screen without reading those comments. He then gets up from the chair and rushes out of his hotel room even before the livestream screen closes.
Not even five minutes later, you hear a knock on your hotel room door. You get up from the couch and walk over to answer it.
"You know if you want me, just say so."
You shake your head, "Why'd you take off your t-shirt and go live? Did you want to see me get mad?"
Your boyfriend smirks, "It was for you. I might flirt with my fans and tell them I love them, but you're my girl."
"Just shut up and come here." You walk closer to him and cups his face with your hands before standing on your toes and kissing him.
Jeongguk's hands squeeze your waist as his lips are hungry for yours. His lips stay on yours as he picks you up from under your arms and your legs wrap around his torso. Your fingers get tangled in his hair and his hands grabs your thighs. He lets go of your thighs for a second to take off his denim jacket and continues the heated makeout behind closed doors.

The tires of a motorcycle skid as the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in front of you while you were about to turn right at the corner of the street.
Startled, your voice goes up half an octave and profanity flies out of your mouth like a reflex. “What the fuck?! What the hell is wrong with you?!”
The man on the bike lowers the kickstand with his left foot and leans back on the bike before taking off his helmet. He exhales and shakes his head before looking at you with a smirk on his face. It was your obnoxious next-door neighbor, “Hey.”
“You almost ran me over!” Your voice now goes down to its usual pitch.
“Sorry.” His tone was sarcastic.
Typical.
“Want to go for a ride?” He asks nonchalantly, like you ever wanted to ride on the back of a motorcycle.
“Why would I want to?” You furrow your eyebrows, not sure why he was asking you this all of a sudden.
He shrugs, “Just cause. I bet you’ve never ridden on a motorcycle before.” He scans you up and down, agreeing with his statement. “Yeah, you’ve never been on one.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You were offended that he thought that of you.
But it was true.
You’ve never been on a motorcycle because it terrified you.
“That means exactly what it means. You’ve never been on a motorcycle.”
“You’re wrong. I’ve been on a motorcycle.” You lied and were definitely going to regret saying that.
“Fine, then hop on.” He motions with his head for you to get on the bike. “There’s a spare helmet under the seat.” He speaks as he watches you hesitantly walk over to the back of the bike and take the helmet from under the seat. You get on behind him and he smirks before putting his helmet back on. He leans forward, raises the kickstand with his left foot and twists the handles of the bike to rev the engine. “Hang on tight.” His voice is muffled as he speaks through the helmet.
You sit up straight and loosely wrap your arms around his torso but your grip suddenly tightens and your body bumps into his when he drives off faster than expected.
It hasn’t even been five minutes into the ride and you were already screaming. You close your eyes tight and also tighten your grip around your neighbor’s waist. Your heart rate increases and you whine, scared for your life right now.
The minute your neighbor hears your whining, he revs the engine and speeds up. That sudden increase in speed makes you scream again. He slightly turns his head to the right to glance at you and smirks as his eyes look back at the road again. He maintains his current speed, so you thought it was safe to open your eyes and look around.
You had never seen the city at this time of night, especially like this. It was pretty.
“Are you sure you’ve been on a motorcycle before? You don’t sound like you’ve been. You were lying before, weren’t you?” His voice faintly echoes through the whooshing of the wind and the sound of the bike’s engine.
“I wasn’t. I’ve been on one before.” You call.
“Then I guess you wouldn’t mind if I did this.” He warns you before increasing his speed again and driving his bike recklessly in between the cars on the highway. You close your eyes again and let out several screams telling him to slow down. He enjoys the thrill of the ride and your reaction, continuing to speed through the traffic while revving the engine over and over.
You live through ten more minutes of the horror before the motorcycle slows down and comes to a stop. You breathe heavily as your heart rate now decreases slowly. You keep your eyes closed and hear the clicking of the kickstand. The motorcycle is now resting still in the shoulder of a tunnel.
Your neighbor gets off of the motorcycle and takes his helmet off. He hangs the helmet on the right handle bar and then grabs both sides of yours with his hands. He removes the helmet from over your head and rests it on the seat in front of you. “You can relax now.”
You continue to breathe heavily and glare at him with resentment, “I thought I was going to die.”
He ruffles his hair with his right hand to fix it and shakes his head, “I knew you were lying before.”
“I hate you.” You get off the back of the bike and lean against it.
“Oh, now I know that isn’t true.” He smirks as the low, husky tone of his voice rings in your ears.
“What makes you say that?” You whisper, scared about what was going to happen next.
“Because you barely know me. How can you hate someone you barely know?” He tilts his head, gazing at you seductively.
“You told me to get on when you knew that I lied.”
“You could’ve said no.” He raises his eyebrows.
That is true. You could’ve said no when he told you.
But you didn’t.
He stares at you and bites the inside of his bottom lip. He takes a step closer while keeping his eyes on you. Your heart rate increases again as his hands lightly rub against your waist, holding you close. You maintain eye contact with him, taking in his perfect facial harmony that made him incredibly attractive.
He glances down at your lips before his eyes meet yours again. He whispers in that low, husky tone again. “You can say no.”
You shake your head and let him lean his face closer until his lips press against yours. His touch is soft and slow until you kiss him back. As your lips begin to move against his, the kiss roughens. His right hand squeezes your waist and pulls you closer as his left hand rests on the leather seat of the motorcycle. Your arms wrap around his neck and your chest is now against his. He then breaks the kiss to tilt his head to the other side and your lips connect again.
The two of you breathe heavily as he slowly pulls away. His hands linger on your waist, “Come on, I’ll take you home.”
“No, it’s okay.” You shake your head, forcing a smile.
He chuckles, “Relax, I’ll drive safe this time.” He lets go of your waist and puts his helmet back on before getting on the bike again.
You follow and get on behind him. Your arms tightly wrap around his torso as he revs the engine and drives off through the other end of the tunnel.
Everyone had a date for Valentine’s Day and the night before, you were stuck working overtime at the bakery. It didn’t matter because you didn’t even have someone to spend it with. But of course, just when you thought you’d get some alone time, he had to show up and you were forced to spend this late night overtime shift with him.

“Make sure to lock up once you’re done.” Your boss nags like it was your first time working late.
“I know what to do, Eugene.” You remind him that this wasn’t your first rodeo. “Now go, so I can finish the cake orders.” You had to push him out the back door because he wouldn’t leave.
“Call me if you need anything.” He shouts while walking to his car.
“I’ll be fine.” You reassure him and raise your hand to wave to him. You walk back into the kitchen through the back door you just came out of. You glance at the clock on the wall of the kitchen and it reads “10:30”. You exhale before tying your hair back and rolling up your sleeves. “Let’s get to work.”
One hour had passed but you still had so much work to do. You were frosting a cake while a layer of another cake was baking in the oven. A piping bag was in your right hand that you were trying to keep steady with your left. Your back was to the door while you were working and all you could hear was the ticking of the clock hands but a voice interrupted the silence.
“Where do you want this?” A voice that you hadn’t heard in years takes your attention away from the task at hand.
You groan as you messed up the frosting of the cake. “Look at what you-.” You turn your head to see who had spoken and made you mess up. It was the guy you thought you’d never run into again. Your ex-boyfriend. “What are you doing here?”
“Bringing in the inventory that you need to restock.” He was holding a large box in his arms.
“No. I mean, why are you here?”
“I asked your boss if I could help you. You can’t do all of this alone.” He pauses before adjusting his grip on the box in his arms. “Where do you want this? This is heavy.”
“Just.. I guess, over there’s fine.” You point to the empty space on the floor in the corner by the pantry.
“Okay.” He exhales while walking over to the area you pointed to and sets the box down. He dusts off his hands on his pants and walks over to the island where you were standing. “Anything I can help with?”
“Nope.” You dismiss his presence, fixing the mistake on the cake.
He walks over to the other side of the island and stands in front of you. Leaning forward, he rests his forearms on the cold surface and watches you work. “You’re not happy that I’m here.”
“What gave it away?” You ask sarcastically, not looking up from the cake.
“Your reaction to seeing me. It wasn’t exactly a good reaction.” He keeps watching you work. “Should I leave?”
“Whatever you want. I don’t care.” You were done piping the frosting around the edge of the cake. You now grab the thinner piping bag to add decorative holiday accents on the cake.
“I’ve missed you.” He stays there and looks at you fondly.
You glance up at him. “Good for you.” The timer for the oven goes off and you couldn’t take out the cake layer that was in there while frosting the one in front of you. “Can you-?”
Even before you could finish your sentence, he rushed over to the oven and took out the cake layer for the next cake you had to decorate. He puts it down on the countertop next to the oven so that it can cool down. “Why are you here alone on the night before Valentine’s Day?”
“We’re behind on orders so I’d thought I’d step up.” You finish up with the current cake and put it to the side for now. You usually man the counter in the front of the bakery, making coffee for people. “How do you know Eugene?”
“He’s just a friend. Are you two a thing?” He walks over to the box that he set down on the floor and opens it.
“Why do you care?” You were assembling a cake box to put the cake you just decorated into it.
“You two seem close.” He unloads a few items from the box and walks into the pantry.
You walk over to the box and take more items out to help him. “We’re childhood friends. We grew up together.” You join him in the pantry and help him restock the shelves. “He lived next door to me.”
“So, do you have a boyfriend?” He takes the boxes of brown sugar from your hands so that he can put it on the higher shelf.
“No.” You answer him without hesitation while putting the boxes of piping bags on the lower shelf in front of you. You extend your arm above your head to put the cylinder in your hand on the shelf but you couldn’t reach it. You stand on your toes to try to reach it but lose your balance and fall back.
You drop the cylinder can of frosting and fall back into your ex-boyfriend who was standing behind you. His right arm wraps around your stomach to catch you. “Careful.” He whispers, looking down at your face to make sure you were okay.
“Thanks.” You turn your head to look up at him. You two maintain eye contact for a few seconds before you clear your throat. Your hand touches his arm for support while standing back up. Once you stand up again, you walk out of the pantry to restock the rest of the new inventory from the box.

“I need coffee.” Your ex stretches his arms after he finishes washing the dishes. “Can you make me some?” He looked over at you while you were piping filling for macarons onto the cookies.
“Make it yourself.” Your voice was monotonous as you were concentrating.
“But your coffee tastes good.” He walks up from behind you. He takes the piping bag out of your hand as you open your fist to finish piping filling onto the base of the macaron. “Come on. We deserve a break, don’t you think?” He smiles at you as you turn your head around.
“Yours tastes better.” You whisper.
“What?” He raises his eyebrows.
“Your coffee tastes better than mine.” You hold eye contact with him.
His eyes smile at you while he puts the piping bag he took from you down on the counter, “Let’s go, I’ll make you a cup.”
You follow behind him as he walks out to the front of the store. “You know, you haven’t smiled once tonight since you saw me.” He stands in front of the espresso machine getting ready to make some coffee.
“Do I have to? We don’t exactly have a good relationship.” You stand behind him, leaning your back against the counter where you bag customer’s pastries.
“No. I just thought that you’d reciprocate it at least once.” He watches the coffee drip into the small cup he placed on top of the drip tray. Once coffee finishes dripping from the portafilter, he grabs the cup off the tray and brings it over to you. “Careful, it’s hot.” He goes back to the machine to make his cup of coffee.
You take the cup from him and sip the coffee. He was right, the coffee was hot. You wince after accidentally burning the inside of your mouth. “Shit, that’s hot.”
He quickly turns his head to look at you as you press your lips together in pain. “You okay?” He places his hand on your chin, looking at you worriedly.
“I’m fine.” You take his hand off of your chin. “It’s my fault, I should’ve listened to you about the hot coffee.”
He walks back to the machine while chuckling and shaking his head. “You haven’t changed one bit.” The espresso finishes dripping into his cup and he takes the cup from the machine. He turns around and leans against the counter parallel to the one you were standing against.
“Why are you really here, Jungkook?” You ask. He obviously wasn’t really here to help you. He shows up 3 years after you break up, on Valentine’s Day.
Jeongguk was standing across from you, sipping his coffee. “I wanted to see you.”
“Why? We broke up.”
“I screwed up. I want to start over with you.”
“Well, I don’t.” You didn’t want to start over with him. You’d be letting him in again, when you know how your rekindling will end. “I have to finish the desserts.” You walk away and back into the kitchen with the cup still in your hand.
Jeongguk follows you back into the kitchen. “Hey, are you sure about that?” He stands in front of you, blocking you from walking forward.
“Yeah, I’m sure.” You try to pass him but he moves to the side to block you again.
“You haven’t missed me?”
“No, I haven’t. Can you move over? I need to get back to work.” He lets you pass him and you put the cup of coffee in the sink before putting on the latex gloves and turning on the faucet to wash it.
“I’ll do it. Go finish up the macarons.” Jeongguk takes over washing the dishes, letting you now focus on the dessert that was incomplete on the island.
Ten minutes pass and you are done piping the filling for the macarons. The cookies were heart-shaped and you were satisfied with your job-well-done. Jeongguk notices that you are done and then grabs a macaron to eat one. “Hey!”
Jeongguk closes his eyes as he chews the cookie, “Mm, these taste just like I remember.”
“Don’t eat them. They’re not for you.” You bite your lip and look at him with stern eyes.
He stares at you with seductive eyes, “Is it bad that I want to kiss you right now?”
“Go drink more coffee. It sounds like you’re not awake enough.” Luckily you baked extra cookies and had leftover filling. You make another macaron to replace the one Jeongguk just ate.
“Why? Because I want to kiss you?”
“Yes. What you’re saying doesn’t make sense.” You had replaced the macaron and were now boxing up the macarons and putting them into the fridge. You then grab the utensils and bowls you used and toss them into the sink.
Jeongguk gets up from the chair he had pulled up in front of the island you were working at. “Be honest with me. You really haven’t missed me?” He stands in front of you again while you stand in front of the sink with your back to it.
“I really haven’t.”
“You sure?” He whispers with that soft husky tone that made you fall in love with him six years ago. “Because I meant it when I said I missed you. I really did.” He grabs the hair tie that holds your ponytail up and undoes it so you are now wearing your hair down. “You look prettier with your hair down.”
“Jeongguk…” You avoid his eyes, trying to get him to stop talking about this.
He looks down at your lips as you say his name. He leans his head in closing the distance between you two. “Just once.”
“What?” You whisper, now looking at his face.
“Just let me kiss you once. Then, if you really haven’t missed me, I’ll leave and never show up in front of you again.” He looks into your eyes and they give him permission. He leans in until his lips touch yours.
Your eyes close and after a few seconds, he pulls away. His eyes meet yours for a minute before you wrap your arms around his neck and pull him back in for another kiss. Your lips move against his as his hands rub the small of your back. The kiss gets heated quickly as your hands get tangled in his hair. Your lips stay joined with his until you run out of breath and pull away.
“So, you lied.” Jeongguk holds onto your waist and exhales before chuckling. “You did miss me.”
“Shut up.” You unwrap your arms from his neck and use your hands to move your hair behind your ears. “I haven’t missed you at all and that kiss meant nothing.” You move past him and grab the spray bottle and cloth on the wall to clean the counter.
“Really? Because I got a different impression.” Jeongguk follows you with a smirk on his face.
“Will you stop following me? I need to work.”
“Fine but why did you kiss me?”
“To show you how to properly do it. You seemed rusty.” You walk over the island and spray the cleaning solution onto the surface and put the bottle down on the counter before rubbing the cloth against it to clean it.
“Do you have plans later?”
“No, thanks.” You knew he asked that because he wanted to know if you’d be up for spending Valentine’s Day with him.
He tilts his head confused and you exhale. “I’m not going to spend Valentine’s Day with you.”
“I know you want to.”
“No I don’t.” You argue with Jeongguk. This exchange repeats for a few minutes until you grit your teeth in annoyance. “If you don’t stop, I’m going to make you.”
“Go ahead.” He laughs, teasing you. He looks at you fondly as you walk up to him with the rag in your hand.
You look up at him and stand still for a few seconds while taking in that handsome face of his. You had no choice but to give into him. “Damn it.” You curse under your breath.
“What’s wrong?” He slightly furrows his eyebrows.
“I lied so you win.” You exhale and finish your thought. “I did miss you. I missed you a lot.”
Jeongguk pulls you closer by his waist with his arm and smiles, “So, do you have any plans later?”
“Yeah, with you.” Your lip curls into a smile as you bite your bottom lip. “But I have to clean up this mess first.”
“I’ll help.” Jeongguk whispers in that soft tone again before letting go of your waist so the two of you can finish cleaning up in the kitchen.

memos. Spent the last two days grinding to finish this. I’ve always wanted to write a supernatural fic because I love that genre and this is my first time ever writing one so I hope it doesn’t disappoint, especially because there was so much anticipation — thank you so much for that! The American, The CW Network tv show, Supernatural, heavily inspired this fic. I love that show with a burning passion so this is dedicated to my pookie, Sam Winchester. Hope you enjoy! And as always, reblogs and feedback in the comments/my asks are appreciated! <3

“So what did you wish for?” Your older sister looks at you curiously, wanting to know what you asked for just before you blew out the candles that are sticking out of the top of your birthday cake.
You shake your head with a smile, which means that you didn’t wish for anything.
Well, at least that’s what you told her.
You did wish for something. Something that you knew is hard to come by, at least for you.
But then again, you’re not really supposed to tell people what you wished for, right? Because if you say it aloud, you’ll jinx it. If only you knew that that jinx would make you regret ever wishing for what you did.
“That’s not really true, you know.” She pouts, upset that you wouldn’t tell her.
“What isn’t?”
“That if you tell people what your birthday wish is, it won’t come true.” She pauses in between her sentences, “I’ve told you all of mine for the past 26 years since I was 3 and they all came true.”
“You’re just lucky, sis.” You smile at your older sister and rub her arm to comfort her, “I’ll tell you what I wished for if it comes true.”
“You better.”
Friday, D-Day, 12:01AM
The guy behind the counter could not ring up your items any slower. He has a blank look in his eyes once he makes eye contact with you after scanning the last item, “That’ll be $23.75.”
“Oh, I forgot to get toothpaste. Can you give me a sec?”
The guy blinks. You couldn’t tell whether he heard you or not. Someone clears their throat from behind you.
Turning your head back, you see that three people are waiting in line behind you. “Sorry.” You rush into Aisle 3 to grab a tube of toothpaste, not wanting to hold up the line for any longer. Your eyes peruse the selection of oral hygiene products and look for the brand of toothpaste you always get, “Do they not have it? I guess not.” You breathe a sigh, and turn to your right to walk back to the counter empty-handed. Just before you turn the corner at the end of the aisle, a man bumps into you.
“My bad.” A low, husky tone rings in your ears.
Turning your head to look at who that voice belonged to, you’re met with the most alluring gaze and naturally, you get lost in it.
“Aren’t you going to pay for this?” The guy behind the counter hollers at you, seeing as you had held up the line long enough.
“I’ll be right there!” You call back while looking at the man facing you.
“See you later.” He whispers, the corner of his lip tugging into a smirk just as that last syllable leaves his mouth.
“What the-?” Talking to yourself, your eyebrows furrow and you rush back to the counter. You throw $30.00 onto the counter, “Keep the change.” You mumble and gather all of the very ordinary items you just paid for. After you stuff them into the tote bag on your shoulder, you shove your hands into your sweatshirt pockets. When you walk out the door of the store, the muggy air slaps you in the face again.
Stupid summer weather.
You squint, finding the air rather unpleasant and disgusting. Why you are wearing a sweatshirt in this kind of weather is a mystery. After ten minutes of huffing through the humidity, you are home. Eager to get out of the heat and stickiness, your fingers fumble with your house keys. You insert the key into the hole to unlock the door. You push it open and cold, crisp air from the air conditioner greets you, putting a smile on your face. Breathing a sigh of relief, you drag your right foot to walk inside when a knock sounds from the other side of the door. Your head jerks around to stare at the door. Wary of who it could be, you stand still and cover your mouth with both of your hands.
There’s another knock.
For all you know, it could be a prank. Which actually makes it scarier. You breathe deeply into your hands, slowly removing them from your mouth. Your heart rate begins to rise as your hand extends out and grabs onto the door handle. The voice inside your head is screaming at you not to open the door but your hand turns the knob and the door opens with a click. Your arm pulls the door towards you just enough so that whoever is behind it can’t come in. You insert your head into the crack betweenthe door and doorframe that you just made.
“What-? W-why-?” You stutter, eyes widening at the sight of the man standing in front of your door.
“Hey.” He has his hands inside the leather jacket pockets. “Told you I’d see you later.” He invites himself inside your apartment, pushing you behind the door.
You push the door off of your chest and watch him walk into your apartment like it's his own. “Do you know me?” He ignores you and paces around your living room. “What do you think you’re doing?” You scoff as he relaxes on your couch.
“You called me here.” He stares at you blankly, waiting for confirmation.
“When? I don’t even know you.” You walk closer to him, the voice in your head trying to stop you from interacting with him any further.
“When you wished ‘for more’ earlier.” He reminds you, standing up from the couch while the next few words echo into the air, “What I can’t figure out is-.” He cuts himself off and paces around your living room, continuing that sentence just seconds later, “-what you mean by that.”
Oh shit. That birthday wish.
“What did you mean when you wished you for ‘more’?” He stops pacing to look at you, analyzing your face.
“What are you talking about?”
“People usually want more of something. It’s usually love, money, power, fame, status, acknowledgement, hell, even sex.” He breaks eye contact for a second, “Humans usually know what they want more of.” He makes eye contact again, tilting Jeongguk's head, “But you don’t seem to know.”
“Who are you?” Your voice shakes, finally listening to the voice inside your head that had been warning you about him for the past five minutes.
He shakes Jeongguk's head, “Not ‘who’, ‘what’.”
“What?” You frown.
“I’m not human.” Approaching you, he raises Jeongguk's eyebrows, “Have you heard of The Seven Deadly Sins?”
“As in Christian theology, ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’?”
He’s quite impressed with how calm you are, considering that most people would make a run for it right about now. “Yeah and I’m ‘Greed’.”
Your pupils dilate as your upper body begins to shiver, “Y-You’re what?”
“I’m one of The Seven Deadly Sins.” He repeats himself.
“You’re lying.” You scoff, “That is not possible.” You take several breaths between your words.
“I’m a demon.” He continues to explain to you how he’s standing in front of you right now. “And I had to possess a human to be standing here in front of you.”
All you can do is laugh. None of this made sense. The Seven Deadly Sins are demons? Demons are real? Possession actually happens?
You blink at an attempt to collect your thoughts. Exhaling deeply, you then ask him the one thing you could comprehend right now, "So you chose to possess BTS Jeongguk?"
The demon shrugs, "He doesn't mind." He puts Jeongguk's hands in the jacket pockets and leans against the back of the couch. "See? You do know me."
“Of course I know who BTS Jeongguk is. I just don’t know him personally. But now that you tell me you’re a demon possessing him, I don’t know you at all.”
“Just think of me as BTS Jeongguk. Then this whole process will be much easier.”
“What process?” Your voice slightly rises at the end of that question.
“The process of making you greedy beyond anyone’s control.” He smirks, hoping that you’d give in and let him ‘help’ you.
It’s impossible to look at him since he’s wearing Jeongguk’s face. “What if I didn’t mean what I wished for?” You fold your arms across your chest, frowning.
“Humans never wish for something they don’t mean.” He shakes Jeongguk's head. “That’s the psychology behind human beings. They desire for a reason. Sometimes, that desire can become so intense, that no matter how much they gain, they’re not satisfied and just keep wanting more. That excessive desire is greed, or me.” He takes Jeongguk's hands out of the jacket pockets and extends Jeongguk's arms out to each side about 30 degrees from the torso.
“That doesn’t mean that my desire will turn into greed.” You try to make him leave because you didn’t need any help.
“True.” He lets Jeongguk's arms fall to their sides and turns around before pacing again. “Your desire could just remain pure desire. But here’s the thing.” He stops pacing to approach you again. “It’s very unlikely for your desire to remain just that.”
“How do you know?”
“Because that’s usually what happens.” He maintains eye contact with you, “Why do you think people gamble, embezzle money, commit tax evasion, form cults and recruit followers, or even murder?” He waits before answering his own question, “It’s all because of greed. That excessive desire for more money, status, power and control.” He bends down to be eye-level with you. Jeongguk's voice is just above a whisper as one corner of Jeongguk's lips curls into a smirk.
“Well I guarantee you, my desire for more won’t turn into greed. So you can leave.”
“Nope. Not how it works.” Standing up straight again, he looks down at you. “I can’t leave until I figure out what you want more of and corrupt you.”
“Why me?” You exhale, resting your right arm on your waist. “I’m sure there are people greedier than me out there. People who actually know what they want more of.”
“Mm.” He nods, “That may be true. But remember, I chose you. So I can’t leave until your greed gets out of control. Once it does, that means that I’ve done my job.”
“What happens after you ‘corrupt me’?” You might as well play along with what the demon is telling you.
He tilts Jeongguk's head, “What happens after that is all you.”
“What does that mean?” You frown, watching as he comes closer to you again.
“My job is done when I’ve made you greedy to the point where you’re uncontrollable. How you handle that, or rather, whether you handle that or not, is all up to you.”
“What kind of messed up bullshit is that?”
“Hey, we demons only corrupt humans. Dealing with that corruption is what rehab, therapy and mental hospitals are for.” He raises Jeongguk's eyebrows, hoping that he got his point across.
You sigh, running a hand through your hair. “Fine. Just- Can you do something about your appearance? I’m uncomfortable talking to you and going through with this whole thing while you’re wearing Jeon Jeongguk’s face.”
“No can do, baby.” He’s standing right in front of you. Jeongguk's voice purrs in that low, husky tone again, “I like this guy and his face. I also have a feeling that this whole process will work so much better if I remain in this body.”
“Why is that?” You lean back slightly in reaction to Jeongguk's face being a bit too close to yours.
“Because you can’t resist this guy’s handsome face. It’s perfect.”
“How do you know that I can’t?”
He smiles and reaches Jeongguk's right hand up to your face to move a strand of hair in your face to the side, “Nobody can. He’s BTS Jeongguk. That’s why I chose to possess him. To make everything easier.”
“You’re lying.” You’re still skeptical about this whole ‘demons are real’ thing and that one is standing in front of you after possessing Jeon Jeongguk.
“After all I’ve told you? That’d be one hell of a lie.” He slightly inches Jeongguk's face back from yours. “I told you. Just think of me as Jeon Jeongguk. Then everything will be much easier.”
He’s right.
If you just believe the demon and let him do his thing, then he’d leave. After all, he didn’t need to know whether you are actually becoming greedy or not. He just needs to think you are.
“Okay, whatever. Have it your way. Now can you leave so I get some sleep?”
He nods while pursing Jeongguk's lips, “I’ll see you bright and early Monday morning.” He gives you a wink before walking out of your apartment.
Once you're left alone, you begin to doubt everything that just happened. Are you dreaming? You slap your face and judging from how you flinch, then feel your cheek begin to burn, you aren’t dreaming.
This is real. Fuck.
Monday, 7:30 AM
You yawn and stretch your arms up while walking out to the kitchen to brew your morning cup of coffee. “Holy shit!” You jump after opening your eyes from yawning. “What are you doing here? How’d you get in?”
Greed sits comfortably on your couch with both of Jeongguk's arms extended out to the side and resting on top of the back cushions. “I told you I’d see you bright and early Monday morning. So here I am.” He pauses before answering your second question, “And the door was open.”
“No, it wasn’t.” You shake your shake slowly and raise your eyebrows. You remember double checking to make sure the door was locked before going to bed last night.
“Oh, then you need to get your door fixed.” He smiles just with Jeongguk's mouth.
Your eyes widen before you peer over at the front door to see that it was destroyed. The door knob was on the floor with several dents in the door, the large piece of metal now barely hanging onto the hinges attached to the doorframe. A loud gasp escapes your body and your attention is back on the demon lounging on your couch. “How could you-“
“I told you. I’m a demon.” Jeongguk's eyes turn black as the demon tells you what he is again.
Your eyebrows slightly rise and eyes widen again as you hear him tell you that. Meaning that this time, you believe him. “But that doesn’t mean that you can just break someone's door!” You stand a good distance away from him, fearing what would happen if you are closer now that you know what he’s capable of doing.
“How else was I supposed to get in?” He shrugs, not really seeing the problem with destroying property.
“Okay, that’s it.” You walk over to him and stand next to the couch, facing him. “If you’re going to corrupt me or whatever it is you came here to do, do it while acting like a human being.”
“But I can’t because I’m not human.” He has Jeongguk's head turned to the left, looking up at you.
“You’re possessing a human being and to everyone out there, you’re Jeon Jeongguk. So, you can’t go around destroying things or hurting people.”
“What makes you think I hurt people?” Jeongguk's eyes slightly smile, intrigued that you would think such a thing.
“You said you’re a demon. Isn’t that what demons do?”
He shakes Jeongguk's head, dumbfounded, “That’s a stereotype. I mean, most demons do. But not me. That’s not what we vices do.”
“But you destroy things.” You figure that you’re right about that, at least, seeing what he did to your door.
“I wouldn’t say that I destroyed your door…”
You grit your teeth, “Then what do you call that?” You keep your eyes on him as you extend your right arm out to the side and point to your broken front door.
Jeongguk's eyebrows move up and down as he shrugs, “Let’s get down to business. Tell me what you want more of.”
You let your arm fall back down to its side. “I don’t know.”
He brings Jeongguk's arms together and puts Jeongguk's hands in the jacket pockets before standing up. “All’s fair. There’s nothing that you can’t want. I can make you want anything.”
You raise your eyebrows and shake your head.
He sighs, "There's something you need to see." He approaches you and lays a hand on your shoulder. Within seconds, you're outside your apartment and standing in a sandbox on a playground. "Look over there." Jeongguk's chin extends forward then back again which guides you to turn around and notice two little boys, who are both no more than six years old, fighting over their turn on the slide.
They're standing at the top of the slide, whining at each other. From what you can hear of their argument, the boy on the left, wearing a blue t-shirt, had just taken a turn on the slide but wants to go down again. The other boy, wearing a green shirt, whines back, saying that he hasn't had a turn yet. They whine back and forth a few more times before the boy wearing the green shirt finally gets his turn and goes down the slide with a smile.
The other boy is still at the top of the slide and he frowns, before following his friend and sliding down the sloped piece of plastic. Once he gets to the bottom, he pushes his friend down by the shoulders while yelling, "I told you that I wanted to go again!"
The boy in green then falls down and wails as his body hits the ground with a thud. He cries back, feeling that it is unfair. "You got to go on it twice! I just wanted a turn!"
"What are you trying to show me?" You turn back around to face the demon standing still, watching what just happened.
"Greed is everywhere." He continues to watch the two boys through Jeongguk's eyes and continues talking, "Of course, this kind of greed is innocent because children have yet to understand the complexity of 'wanting'." The demon takes Jeongguk's eyes off of the boys and meets your eyes, resting Jeongguk's hand on your shoulder again to take you somewhere else next.
What you now see in front of you are slightly run-down exteriors of buildings and beat-up cars. Screams echo in the distance and you see injured people lying on the ground and small fires igniting all around you. Your pupils move side to side, scanning your surroundings. You begin to recognize where you are, though still ask in doubt of your guess. "Where are we?"
"Not 'where', 'when'." He informs you that you're standing just years from present time. "This is what will happen when everyone gets greedy. It's only a matter of time before the world ends."
"How are you so sure the world will end up like this?" Your voice slightly shakes.
"Because people are selfish and are becoming more and more selfish. Humans are naturally self-centered and only care about themselves and what they want. The more they care only about their own needs and desires, their natural desires grow into greed, and when everyone's greed grows out of control, all at the same time-" He pauses before watching a car explode behind you, which makes you jump at the sudden 'boom' it makes. "-eventually the world ends."
A tear rolls down your left cheek as you watch the destruction continue in front of you. It was heartbreaking to watch and you couldn't bear it any longer.
The demon notices your reaction to the whole scene. "It can't be helped. Desire is just a part of human nature. Just as arrogance, anger, jealously, laziness, and cravings for food and sex are. Those are just surface-level aspects of what makes people human-beings. But those aspects can get become uncontrollable and turn into 'me' and the rest of us." He exhales, placing Jeongguk's hand on your shoulder for the third time, "You have more to see."
This time, you're standing in the middle of a hotel casino. Some people are sitting at slot machines and the sounds of several machines overlap in your ears. There are also tens of groups of people sitting at tables playing various card games and betting stacks and stacks of paper currency.
"Why did you bring me here?" You groan, looking up at the demon. Though it's impossible to look at him for more than five seconds at a time, especially when he's still wearing Jeon Jeongguk's face.
"I figured that you're familiar with this form of greed. Everyone is."
"What's your point?" You grow impatient.
"This is the beginning of human corruption. Every human being wants money, because it can buy anything and everything that they want. With an infinite amount of money comes an unlimited amount of material goods, status and power." He looks around with you. People are either cheering because they won more money than they know what to do with or have their hands on the backs of their heads because they lost more money than they came in with. "Money is what drives human success, because they can fulfill their dreams and goals without obstacles. But it can also destroy their level of self-control, and sometimes, bite them in the ass."
"So what exactly do you want from me?" You begin to feel angry, getting the impression that he's just doing this for kicks.
"I want you to think long and hard about what exactly it is you want. That you shouldn't just say anything to make me go away." He stares into your eyes, trying to read what your deepest desire is. But for some reason, he couldn't.
He lays a hand on your shoulder for the last time and now you're back in your living room.
"If you're trying to prove that your job is to make people greedy to the point where they go insane, you've made your point." All three examples he used to explain to you what 'greed' is, all teach you the same lesson. That he's responsible for the human destruction and corruption in the world.
Jeongguk's head shakes, "I'm just showing you how greed can affect humans in different ways, depending on how they handle it."
"Then I won't end up like you think I will. Because I will handle my own desires in my own way and control them." You reassure him again that there is no reason for him to be here.
"You sure about that?" Jeongguk's voice purrs as he looks down at you with a smirk.
You roll your eyes and sigh, walking towards your front door that has somehow still not fallen down completely yet.
"Where are you going?" He calls from behind you while watching you put on your sneakers.
"To the bank." You answer him while you're down on your left knee, tying the laces of your right sneaker.
He smiles, seeing that this could be an opportunity to corrupt you. "Because you want more money?"
You stand up after you finish tying your shoelaces and turn around to face him, who is now standing rather close to you. You grab your wallet and house keys that are in the bowl on top of the small shoe cabinet leaning against the wall. "No, because I need more money. There's a difference." You give him a straight smile before turning back around and proceeding to squeeze your body through the doggy-door sized hole between your crooked door and its frame.
You straighten your body after folding it in half to fit through the hole and hear the demon groan behind you as he follows and tries to fit through the hole. You laugh, enjoying watching a supernatural being act like he's human. "So you can destroy things and travel through time, but you can't teleport?"
He exhales in relief after managing to fit Jeongguk's body through the hole and stands up straight next to you. "Sweetheart-" He groans again, exhaling softly, "-that is way above my pay grade."
You laugh, deciding to tease him just a bit more, "Demons get paid? By who? Satan?" You walk ahead of him, toward the end of the hallway.
Greed forces a laugh, "Cute." He follows behind you with Jeongguk's hands in the leather jacket pockets, "You know there's a very fine line between 'wanting' and 'needing'. 'Needing' turns into 'wanting' and vice versa." He catches up to you, matching your pace.
"In my case, it doesn't." You shut down the assumption of you wanting more money. It only takes you five minutes to get to your local bank. You open the door to the walk-up ATM inside the bank and realize that he's standing right behind you, practically invading your personal space. "What are you doing?" You stand outside the door with your hand holding the handle.
"Why aren't you going inside?" He's completely clueless.
"You know you can't follow me inside, right?" You speak while looking through the glass door at the ATM machine on the other side.
"Why not?"
You roll your eyes, "Do whatever you want. Just- step back for a second." Once he steps back at your instruction, you exhale before pulling the door handle towards your chest and opening the door. You walk straight inside toward the ATM and begin withdrawing money. After following the on-screen instructions, the machine makes a continuous rolling sound as it sorts through the paper bills inside itself and the desired amount dispenses out of the slot in the chosen note denominations.
"Are you sure you don't want more?" He stands behind you and bends down, whispering that tempting question into your right ear in a distorted voice.
Even your well-grounded, stubborn self can't resist the demon's temptation. Jeongguk's voice puts you in a trance, involuntarily making you start a new transaction to withdraw more money to further decrease your total account balance. The ATM machine makes the rolling sound again and dispenses another small pile of money through the slot.
Greed smiles, satisfied that you finally succumbed and are now one step closer to corruption. "That's it! That's it, now more." He watches as you withdraw money for the third time and the cycle repeats. "More!" Jeongguk's voice gets louder as he keeps smiling.
It's just after he shouts the second "more" that you wake up from your trance. You blink, staring at the large stack of money in your right hand. Letting out a gasp, you turn your head to the right to notice that Jeongguk's face is relaxed and rather disappointed. "Wh- What did you just do to me?"
The demon pouts, smacking Jeongguk's lips together. "Mm, that's too bad. This whole thing could've just ended here." He backs away from your face, standing up straight ahead behind you. "If it's not money that you want, then what it is?"
"Wait a minute." You turn around to face him, sliding the tip of your tongue along the inside of your bottom teeth with your mouth closed. "That trance I just went into right after you asked if I wanted more, that happens when I want more of something?" Your eyes slightly smile, hoping that you successfully picked up on what will happen to you.
He shakes Jeongguk's head, closing Jeongguk's eyes then opening them back again. "I just tried something." He pauses and watches as your eyes relax. They look back at him with slight disappoint as he continues, "Honey, if it were that easy, I would've just done that from the beginning. Sadly, it isn't." He looks down at Jeon Jeongguk's body and exhales, "Given that I'm inside a human being's body."
"Then what does happen when I begin to become greedy?" You're still holding the wad of cash in your right hand as you fold your arms across your chest.
"I don't know. That depends on the person. It's up to you find out." He walks out the door and back onto the sidewalk.
You exhale and uncross your arms to stuff the cash into your sweatshirt pocket. "How are you going to figure out what I want more of, when I don't even know?" You trail behind him as he walks ahead of you.
"That's why-" Jeongguk's body suddenly stops at the curb to let a car pass before crossing to the next block. "-I need to know more about you."
You had stopped in your tracks when he did, though you now catch up to him. "Why'd you stop just there?" You furrow your eyebrows as you wait for an answer.
"I can't bruise this fine packaging, can I?" The demon continues walking alongside you.
"Who knew demons cared about the people they possess?" You scoff, amused that a demon would care about such a thing.
"We don't." Greed squints, "But the whole world seems to care about this guy for some reason. So, God forbid I leave a scratch on Jeon Jeongguk-" He doesn't bother finishing that sentence and just shakes Jeongguk's head. Jeongguk's body suddenly stops again, this time in the middle of the sidewalk and his body turns around, "Now, tell me about your life and what made you wish for more."
You exhale under your breath, startled by the demon's sudden halt and demand to know more about you. "Is that really necessary? You're a demon, aren't you? Can't you just read my mind?"
He sighs, disappointed in your lack of knowledge of the supernatural. "Again, way above my pay grade." He tilts Jeongguk's head, eyes beginning to smile, "But should you really be saying that I'm a demon out loud? We are in public." He smirks, choosing to act cheeky. "You said yourself that to everyone out here, I'm Jeon Jeongguk. So, you can't just call me a demon. People will hear you."
"Fine, I believe you now. So do you want me to call you 'Jeongguk'?" Your eyebrows move up and down, finally giving in and acknowledging that demons are real.
"You should've done that from the beginning." He pulls on the bottom hem of the leather jacket with Jeongguk's hands to straighten it out.
"Jung-" You try to call him but exhale before saying the second syllable. "I'm sorry, but I just can't do it. You look exactly like him, but I know you're not him." You pause before tilting your head, suddenly realizing that the real Jeon Jeongguk is technically, in this sense, "gone". "Where is he anyway?"
"Who?" The demon raises Jeongguk's eyebrows, as if he doesn't know who you're talking about. "Oh." He taps the left side of Jeongguk's head using his left index finger. "He's trapped in here. He's gonna need a lot of therapy by the time I'm done with this job, or rather chore."
You scoff, "So, now this is a chore?"
"Yeah, because I'm forced to do this."
You furrow your eyebrows and stare at the demon wearing Jeongguk's face, "I thought you chose me. So you weren't forced to do anything."
"Whatever. Damn it, this guy is too valuable. If I had just possessed some random, poor bastard, I could do whatever the hell I wanted and I wouldn't matter." Greed squints again, using Jeongguk's right leg to kick up in frustration.
"Then why don't you just do whatever you want in that body?" You laugh, now beginning to find this whole "possession" thing amusing. It now clicks that as long as the demon's inside Jeon Jeongguk's, he'd have to watch how he behaves.
"Have you not been paying any attention?" He twitches Jeongguk's upper lip upward to expose Jeongguk's teeth that grit. "I just said that I'm restricted in what I can do to you because of this guy's reputation."
You smile, "Oh, I know. I just like seeing you get annoyed."
"This is funny to you?"
You raise your left hand with your left thumb and index finger brought close together, almost touching. "Just a bit." The demon groans in Jeongguk's voice as you stand next to him and continue laughing. You then feel the wad of cash in your sweatshirt pocket, "What am I going to do with all of this money?"
Greed calms down and Jeongguk's mouth smiles, "Let's go." Jeongguk's hand grabs yours and the demon drags you down two more blocks before walking into a retail clothing store.
"Hi." You smile at the salespeople in the store, who are astonished by the presence of Jeon Jeongguk, or who they think is Jeongguk.
There's actually a demon possessing him. The shell is only Jeon Jeongguk. You internalize that thought, figuring that no one here would even believe you if you told them that.
The demon uses Jeongguk's body to greet the employees in the store, who react in awe and are giddy beyond words.
One of the three employees then walks up to you both eagerly, not taking their eyes off of Jeongguk. "How can I help you?" Their question is obviously directed toward him.
"I'm good. She's the one that needs help." Greed diverts the employee's attention to you, having a good feeling that he'd succeed this time.
"What?" You whisper and jerk your head at him, then at the employee. You let out an awkward laugh before walking with the employee further into the store.
The demon follows behind you, feeling very confident that what you want more of are material goods. "Isn't that one nice?" He stands behind you, bending down. Jeongguk's voice is distorted again, which is the start of the demon's second attempt.
"It is." You think for a second, before hyperfixating on one piece of clothing on the rack. It just so happened to be the most expensive piece of clothing on that wall. "How much is this?" You hold up the dress while asking the employee next to you. Once you hear the price of the dress, you wake up from whatever it is you just experienced, like a record scratch in movies. "Nevermind," you let out another awkward laugh before hanging the dress back on the rack. "I'll come back another time." You smile at all of the employees in the store and drag Greed out of the store by Jeongguk's right arm. You two now stand outside the store, on the sidewalk. You fold your arms your chest. "Why did you do that again?"
"I'm just doing what I need to." Jeongguk's head slightly jerks to the side as the demon continues, "So that's what happens when you begin to come greedy."
"What does?" You frown, not fond of how you're being manipulated.
"You hyperfixate on what you want. That makes this a little bit easier now." Jeongguk's head nods as the demon has finally cracked you. "Now we just have to figure out what 'that' is."
Friday, 10:00 PM
He hadn't shown up for almost a week, which is oddly unsettling. Not that you wanted him to show up because after all, he's a nuisance. It did make you nervous though. Is just going to corrupt you without you realizing? You let your mind wander as you open the door to your apartment that you had gotten replaced this morning. You had to pay for it obviously, which is where you spent all that money that you withdrew from the bank a few days ago.
Once you unlock the door with your keys and walk in, you jump again at Greed's sudden appearance. He rummages through the baskets on the shelves of your TV stand. The couch cushions aren't where they should be and most of your things are scattered on the floor all over the living room. He turned this place into a mess. But wait? How did he get in this time?
"Oh, you're back." He stops what he's doing and straightens Jeongguk's body, acknowledging your presence.
You warily drag our feet further into the apartment, as if it's someone else and not yours. You scan the mess around him, "How did you get in? The door was locked and was replaced this morning"
He takes a lockpick kit out of Jeongguk's leather jacket pocket and shows it to you, "Believe it or not, this is why I'm now here. You humans make even picking a lock complicated. I spent days learning how to use this."
You scoff and shake your head, "Why the hell did you turn my apartment upside down?"
"I was trying to learn more about you since you refused to tell me."
"And?" You exhale deeply, "What did you find out?"
"That-" He uses Jeongguk's hand to pick up a vinyl record from the top of the TV stand. "-your life is very boring. It makes sense that you'd want more."
"Is that so? In what way?"
"Well, for starters, you clearly don't have a boyfriend. You're a virgin, right?"
You scoff, "Wh-What does that matter?"
"Because-" The demon looks at you seductively through Jeongguk's eyes. He uses Jeongguk's arms to take off the leather jacket on his body. "I figured we could start there and see where it goes." The jacket gets tossed onto the couch and next the t-shirt comes off as Jeongguk's body keeps coming closer to you. Now you're staring at Jeongguk's bare chest. Greed moves the right corner of Jeongguk's lip up, "Like what you see?"
You blink, not knowing what to say. You are honestly hoping that the real Jeongguk takes control of his own body again and puts his clothes back on. But of course, that doesn't happen. You finally get a grip and turn him down, "I'm not sleeping with you."
"Why not?" Jeongguk's voice purrs and his eyes continue to look at you provacatively. "I'm sure that's one of the things you want."
You continue backing away from him but he just continues to walk closer to you. Your back then hits the wall, not letting you go any further. The demon catches up to you and stretches Jeongguk's right arm out so that his palm rests against the wall that your back is leaning on. He uses Jeongguk's left hand to caress your face. You keep your eyes on Jeongguk's face, trying to resist the temptation to look below his neck at his chest. What Greed is doing right is clearly working as your pupils dilated not just five minutes when you saw Jeongguk's bare skin in person for the first time. He's taking advantage of your reaction right now, setting the stage for corruption.
"You know, if you give in to this tempation right here and now, my job would be done and I wouldn't bother you again." Greed leans Jeongguk's face closer and whispers. He scans your face with Jeongguk's eyes as you feel Jeongguk's thumb softly rubbing your cheek. The hand caresssing the left side of your face slowly slides your down the left side of your neck and stops at your collarbone.
You inhale softly, maintaining eye contact with the demon inside Jeongguk's body. The eye contact breaks when you close your eyes and tilt your head down. You exhale sharply, opening your eyes again and staring at your feet. "No, I shouldn't." You whisper keeping your head down. As much as you wanted him to go away, you know that this isn't right.
"So much for my tutor session with 'Lust'." He lets Jeongguk's arm fall back down to its side and backs away from you.
"You got tutored by 'Lust'?" You raise your eyebrows while watching the demon walk back to toward the couch to put the t-shirt back on Jeongguk's body.
"Yeah. But that was clearly for nothing." He faces you again, fully clothed now. "And it wasn't for free either. I had to find a human waist-deep in sexual desire in exchange for a lesson on seduction."
"So you took 'Seduction 101' just to get me to cave?" You snort and lick your lips. "I thought all seven of you already know how to tempt humans."
"We do. It's just-" He tries to find the right word for what he's about to say, but just settles with one that best describes it, "-the specialty, to put it, that's different. That is, after all, how the differents aspects of human nature get twisted and turn into the seven of us." He reaches for the leather jacket. "Anyway, that's it for today."
"What?" You walk up to him, "You're leaving just like that?" You didn't expect him to give up this easily.
"Yeah. I just wanted to put what I learned to the test. And since, I clearly failed, I need to find out what else you could want more of." One of Jeongguk's eyes blink as the demon gives you a wink. "Don't worry, sweetheart. I'll be back soon." And with that, he walks out your front door.
You stand still in the mess of your living room, sudden feeling something that is really, strange.
One Week Later, Thursday
"I can't believe you got promoted already." Your colleague is in awe of your impressive work performance.
You shake your head, "I just got lucky. My boss had to take a sudden leave of absence and they needed someone to fill the position. I was just there." You don't let this promotion give you a big head. You try to stay as humble as possible.
"Still, you're already in a managerial position whereas I'm stuck as an assistant." Your colleague pouts, slightly jealous.
You just smile before parting ways with your colleague. "I'll see you tomorrow!" You wave and continue walking straight to make your way home.
That's when a familiar voice sounds from your left, making you jump. "It must be status and power then."
You turn your head to spot the demon standing there with Jeongguk's hands in both pants pockets, like he had just come out of nowhere.
"Where did you come from?" Your voice rises slightly and your eyes widen, startled out by his third sudden appearance.
"From behind the bushes." Greed shrugs. "Anyway, if you don't want more money, more material goods, or even sex. Then it must be more power and status that you want." He takes another guess, really curious about what you want more of.
"Nope." You calm down and continue walking home.
He follows you, walking next to you on your left. "Don't you want status like this guy?" He raises Jeongguk's eyebrows, trying to tempt you again.
"Wait, so Jeongguk got to where he is now because of you?" You suggest.
Greed moves Jeongguk's head left and right to deny your suggestion, "I'm just giving you an example. Jeongguk got to where he is now all thanks to his own patience, efforts and ambitions."
You chuckle, finding it hard to believe that a demon is making an exception, "Why does he get a pass?"
"Because I like the guy." He continues to walk alongside you, matching your pace. "And his face is doing me some good. Because I chose to possess him, you're not pushing me away, no matter how annoying you think I am." He seems to enjoy that privilege. "So, what do you say, is more power and status what you want?"
"Not even close." You keep your eyes focus on what's straight ahead of you. "Better luck next time."
He groans in defeat, with Jeongguk's finger now pointing at you, "This is not over. I will find out what it is. Just wait and see." He stomps off in the direction you both came in, no longer next to you.
You shake your head at just how persistent he is. How can a demon control their anger that well? It was actually amazing.
Two Days After That, Saturday, 12:00 AM
This time, you called him. Because you have finally figured out what you want more of.
Greed stands a few feet apart from you in the parking lot. You and him are standing next to a river, facing each other but not saying a word. He slides Jeongguk's hands into the pockets of that same leather jacket while staring at you.
"I finally know what I want more of!" You holler to him over the wind.
Jeongguk's body walks closer to you as his eyes squint, "What? What did you say?" Greed hollers back, closing the distance between you two.
You watch as he comes closer, lowering your voice to a normal volume. "I know what I want more of now."
He curls the ends of Jeongguk's lips into a smile. He lets out a sigh of relief, "Finally, now tell me so that I can finish my job."
"You said all's fair, right? That there's nothing I can't want more of, right?" You recall what he told you in the beginning. You watch him nod Jeongguk's head, telling you that you're correct. "You."
The demon furrows Jeongguk's eyebrows in confusion, "You want more of Jeongguk?"
You shake your head, repeating yourself. "No, you. I want more of you, Greed."
