Thoughts on Current Popular Songs
In case you were wondering (and I know you were, even if you don’t think you were) here’s a few thoughts on the current songs making the rounds on your local radio stations.
Fetty Wap - Trap Queen: This is the hottest track of the year so far. The singing portion is great, even if the small amount of rapping is mediocre.
Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk: The worst track of the year so far also happens to be the most overplayed. I’ve nearly destroyed several car radios scrambling to change the station when I hear this one come on.
Wiz Khalifa - See You Again: What is this? A Wiz Khalifa tribute to Paul Walker? Like the Fast and Furious movies, I’m just not that interested.
Ed Sheerin - Thinking Out Loud: I think if I never had to see what Ed Sheerin looked like, I may have been able to take his music semi-seriously.
Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do: I actually enjoyed this song the first 1,000 times I heard it. The 1,001st time was just too much though.
Flo Rida - GDFR: No one loves or hates Flo Rida, but more likely you are pretty indifferent to him and tolerate his catchy pop-rap thing. Nothing has changed here.
Usher - I Don’t Mind: To me, this is Usher at his most annoying, trying to make a heartfelt song about strippers or something? This has less credibility than an Alex Rodriguez apology.
Maroon 5 - Sugar: I have basically boycotted Maroon 5 ever since their second album (I really enjoyed the first album and have hated everything else...HATED) but this one has broken the trend slightly. I will most likely hate it by the end of the month.
Jason DeRulo - Want to Want Me: An enjoyable upbeat track from Chris Brown Lite. Likely lacking staying power, so enjoy it while you can.
