          kiya was sleeping again -- and everyone knew what that meant (everyone being umika, given she was the one who’d caught him in the act this time). kiya sleeping meant it was time to pull a prank, and that’s exactly what she was planning to do; now leaning above him, drawing pretty flowers on his face with sharpie!

          she’d half expected him to laugh, to tell her to get up and stop playing around. but she wasn’t the same weak child, the poor role of the pretty damsel she’d once been long forgotten; and perhaps he’d realized that, following her silent instruction with no further prodding. the sudden weight made her knees buckle, just slight -- he was heavier than she thought, alright? -- though she did not falter. nimble hands made their way to his legs, looping around and ensuring his safety. 

          ❛ i won’t. ❜ a white lie. his doubt was well placed, this time. nevertheless, she began to step across the shore, paving her own path through the sand. it seemed as if she had no real direction, no real intention; until she’d randomly twisted & turned, instead marching into the water. 

          she could feel riku shift as soon as she’d entered, as if knowing she was up to something suspicious. as soon as the water breached the hem of her dress, soaking plaid detail, she let go. 

          a large splash behind her, and suddenly her whole body was soaked. she didn’t even need to turn and look, bursting out in laughter at the simple sound.either way. she’d nearly tumbled into the waves herself from how hard the giggles were bubbling out.

          hey, at least she didn’t make him fall on the dirt.

      ❛    wha ‘  ?  c ‘ mon  ,  don ‘ t  be  silly  !  i  totally  got  peter ‘ s  permission  to  use  tink  for  this  !    ❜   did  he  really  ,  or  did  sora  simply  use  a  portion  of  his  own  leftover  fairy  dust  to  get  riku  up  here  ?  sure  ,  he ‘ s  a  fancy  keyblade  master  now  &.  could  easily  use  his  own  magics  to  float  up  here  ,  just  like  sora  could  himself  ,  but  then  where  would  the  ‘ wow ‘  factor  be  ?  would  the  stars  be  as  pretty  from  atop  this  clocktower  had  light  &.  dark  duo  taken  the  easy  way  up  ?  definitely  not  !  sunshine  chosen  is  willing  to  bet  it  wouldn ‘ t  be  as  special  up  here  either  ,  because  if  he ‘ s  being  truthful  to  the  depths  of  pure  heart  ,  riku  looks  especially  . . .  well  ,  perfect  here  ;  like  his  personal  star  despite  the  endless  sea  of  them  twinkling  in  night  sky  above.  &.  sora  still  manages  to  stare  at  him  like  one  ,  too  ,  as  though  he ‘ s  suddenly  some  lovestruck  schoolboy  (  suddenly  ?  please  ,  you  know  how  long  these  feelings  have  been  overflowing  in  abundance.  )  whose  heart  breaks  into  a  sprint  the  moment  his  crush  drifts  near.  boy  light  finds  himself  stealing  gazes  from  riku  when  he  thinks  he ‘ s  not  paying  attention  ,  becoming  much  too  cocky  ,  loosing  himself  in  sparkling  seafoam  greens  ,  a  dream  sora ‘ s  sure  he ‘ s  lost  himself  to  until  riku  matches  that  gaze.  blink  ,  blink.  reality  sets  in  ,  as  does  the  floret  of  pink  flushing  freckled  cheeks.  dramatic  shaking  of  head  ,  silver  bell  laughter  bubbling  from  lips  in  a  poor  attempt  to  save  himself  ,  though  if  he  really  wished  to  do  so  ,  he ‘ d  use  words  in  his  defense  ,  but  there ‘ s  nothing  of  the  sort.  no  amount  of  magic  could  save  him  here  ,  huh  ?

         it was the loud, abhorrent noise that first caught her attention. as soon as their gazes locked, she already knew his intentions. as response, she put her own drink atop the table, opting to place all her focus into the unspoken challenge.

          it was on.

          and so, as youthful games went, she stared at him. he stared at her. all the while sipping his stupid drink like a child. she lasted about seven whole seconds with a face donning neutrality, before bursting out in laughs. its arrival was greeted with a snort, before the rest bubbled out following suit. optics blinked for good as her head shook side to side, as is further emphasising her loss.
