Given that the last few volumes the cover IS an important scene on the story I’m glad to know Nakanaka WILL be a character with more screentime (WHERE’S YADANO!) also and this might be a question for later...

There was once this tiny black kitten. Silent, graceful, imposing of beauty and mystery. But the kitten was only that for the onlooker that saw her from afar. If you paid more attention you would see the kitten always shaking, always with eyes big as plates and somehow hiding her mouth because of the fear her trembling smile would scare people.

The kitten always went about her day doing her best. Trying to talk to the other animals, trying to have fun and play and laugh and... and most of the time while she could get by just fine, overall the tiny black kitten wasnt able to do much but to meekily get by and talk to those close to her.

But at night? At night the nightmares came. Shadows of a reality that wasnt there but that her (and many like her because honestly she wasnt that special) fear was there: “I said something wrong” “I meowed the wrong words” ”I acted like a puppy when im supossed to be a kitten” “No one wants to talk with me” “No one wants to be my friend”...

Those shadows gloomed over the tiny kitten day and night... but one day, a random cat pay her attention. The cat wasn’t really nothing to really describe, just... a cat. He used to pretend to be a fearsome lion but his nature shine trought that he was just... a cat. The thing about THAT cat though? He was curious and for some reason... he wanted to help.

Nowadays the tiny black kitten hangs around with many more cats now. The average cat, a cat that loves to pretend they are the cat of every house, a weird cat that thinks is a dog and loves to be around the black kitten, a cat from a fancy house that wants the black kitten for herself, and some others... all in diferent ways help the tiny black kitten to not feel alone and to be more around people... but that was only in the day, at night? only one thing could ground her.

The memory of that one curious average cat, why his memory? The kitten didnt know at the time... but if I had to guess? It was just the fact that someone cared to approach her... and see her for who she truly is/was and said “I’ll be your friend”.

Hey that’s really nice. Najimi is now inviting Komi-san to try once more the Saitou-san game (thankfully this is a short flashback so we wont see this event unfold again... I hope)

Isnt that just an anxiety attack? Okay that was a bad joke, but the point is that that combination of feelings is something... normal I suposse?

4) Tension? I dont see any tension. Then again they all were excited to have you around to play so I’m sure it was fine... but if you felt tense or worried about it? Well then... is okay if you wanna dodge stuff like that

Yamai (yanderism aside... actually small tangent on it: since that last “event” Yamai’s Yandere-ish antict dropped WAY too much, I guess it was to compensate for the huge blunder with the kidnapping but is something interesting to note)  is trying to be a considerate friend... or buy Komi-san’s affection by offering to cook her something.

Delayed response, but no worries about it. Besides Yamai given her Yandere nature would never judge Komi-san.

Okay... point by point!

1) A delayed response is NOT a bad thing. Is you just being unsure what to answer, what to say and that is normal in every shape of way... it CAN be a bit awkward, but is not as bad as you may think.

2) Probably! But also trying to force a joke can lead to bad results or at least to you QUESTION YOURSELF over “did that joke ruined the moment?” I ended up throwing a joke on a job interview... to one of the people who was interviewing me’s expense... probably wasnt gonna get called anyway... but I cant help but wonder “did I fuck up?”

The REAL awkward part in this is that Agari didnt make any dog allusions... okay NOW im the one getting to caught up in Agari’s attitude and should try to back down... but anyway in the end both she and Komi-san ended up having two diferent conversations between them due to how some words sound in japanese

6) Misunderstandings... yeah those hurt and sometimes create horrible memories and evn destroy friendships. Trust me a word mistake is NOT one of those situations, is just a word misunderstanding that actually you AND Agari are responsible of! So dont worry, you’ll be fine.

Communication disorder round 3! Or rather... every volume reminds us that’s the problem Komi-san has and it reminds us about diferent instances of the situation

Like today we get apparently Komi-san having trouble sleeping because... because... oh... no... nonononononononononononoNONONONONONONO--

... Okay can I skip this chapter? PLEASE?

Oh yeah, Tadano was there during the whole misunderstanding situtation, witnessing the whole mess (and kinda foreshadowing Komi-san’s current state)

also... “awawawawawawa”... is that dog sounds???????? >:0

In the end Tadano could only offer the weakest kind of consolation by mixing a weird saying, untranslatable puns and old shames of the past...

... but that sincerity? That sincerity is maybe the one moment where Komi-san cant find another “anxiety point” and finally get some calm for her restless night.
