If youād asked me at the start of the season it would probably beĀ āKallus Redemption Arcā, but that got resolved, if youād asked me a few weeks ago it might have beenĀ āall the female extras blow upā but that one is just so minor and hasnāt really come up, so Iām gonna probably have to say certain aspects of theĀ āEzra vs the Dark Sideā debate...
Especially the parts where people insist that heās not going to fall or that heās somehow surged past it.Ā
Heās not going to become the villain, or a murderer (thatās just as problematic), but Iām all for just sitting back and watching him fall off that bicycle and scrape his hands and knees. Heās living in the darkest time for the galaxy, letās give him a point where he has to fall to the Dark Side, make some mistakes, and then bring himself back (AKAĀ āletās give a character a redemption arc that isnāt just us trying to cash in on the popularity of an evil character whom the fandom really latched onto because he was played by a Pretty White Boy letās show people what a Redemption Arc ACTUALLY IS because weāve been pretty hard-up on those since Zuko *pats Peridot on the head to show that we havenāt forgotten her, moves to pull Razer closer but canāt find him because NO ONE KNOWS WHERE HE WENT*).Ā
Itās a rare but delightful event to see a hero go evil. Itās also terrifying, and thatās often good storytelling (Red K Kara, Hive Daisy, the occasional brainwashed Optimus...it really lets the support cast shine, you know?). So I guess itās kind of the opposition to the fandomās mainstream thought ofĀ āthe blueberry is becoming the blackberryā.
TLDR: LET THE BLACKBERRY HAVE HIS TIME BECAUSE THE BLUEBERRY WILL ALWAYS ENDURE.
