     “tell me something, pris.” it’s a request, softened from the sublime thrall vocals usually pitch into, smoothed into something intimate and yearning, into something so very few can coax out from him. her presence does that, settles that tumultuous current swallowing up heartbeat and filling lungs with salt water, and it’s something he craves and dislikes in equal measures. “what does the ocean say to you ?”

     “  Oh  my  god  ! ”   Came  a  bellow  from  behind  the  mirror.   “  Oh  no,  no,  no  !   This  is  horrifying.  Impossible.  Everything  is  over  ! ”   Hyunjoon  lamented,  aghast  at  his  reflection  staring  back  at  him.  Terrified,  wide  eyes  searched  for  the  other  accompanying  him.   “  Look  at  this  !   I’ve  got  dark  circles  !   I  am  ruined  ! ”

                      oh the person you’ve become   .   yana had apparently shed their skin   ,   left behind a carcass of who they once were and instead unveiling ... this   .   a blink   ,   following every little snap of their gum—the trainee was unsure if the noise was ENDEARING   ,   a poke of a reminder that they’d changed, or annoying   .     there’s an almost visible falter   ,   a TOO LONG of a pause where mini recoiled from the slap of being unknown   ,   apparently   .   yet   ,   he can tell from the disdain in their voice that the memories were there   ,   had to be there   .  ❝ everything, but you ... ❞    was he impressed   ?   if he is he isn’t showing it   ,   crimson locks pushed back as he almost challenged their newly found beauty with his. always there   .   never had to be chipped at to achieve   .   a smile   .   ❝ PLEASE———-    i don’t beg for bread.❞   he’s bewildered   ,   tongue running over teeth   ,   neck tilted as he felt around the borders of the conversation   .   he remembers the way they used to COWER   ,   aware of the differences in frequencies   ,   easily dominated   .   but now   .   face to face and equal parts   .      it’s a test   ,   of some sort   .   a verbal shove to get yana’s attention   .   surely they’d remember him now   .  ❝ if you’re offering some other kind of treat, though, i might be willing to get down on my knees...   ❞

Eyes were wide, shocked, as he closed the distance between them. “Valentine?” Ironic name, given the day. He’d never had much use for the holiday – but perhaps that was about to change. “What are you doing here?” Eyes strayed to the clock, and then back to the girl’s face. “Can you close? We have so much catching up to do…”
