♖ comforting after a nightmare
He has a habit of sitting on the balcony at night, star gazing and contemplating his life choices at three in the morning as he burns through a pack of cigarettes nearly every day. His life is unsatisfactory, he deems it, but there isn’t much he can do about, change doesn’t happen in a day, nor would getting into his car and driving until his tank runs out will exactly solve his problems, either.
So he sits, reaching for a new smoke while a cool breeze ruffles his dry bleach-damaged hair, staring blankly at the glittering city skyline. His attention is roused elsewhere when he hears the slide of the neighboring door, a slim yet squat figure stepping out, heading straight for the railing and Yifan wonders for the briefest of moments that he might jump.
He’s spared that anxiety when the man stops, merely resting at the edge, hands gripping the cool iron until his knuckles turn as wan as his face, which upon further inspection, Yifan can see the telltale signs of a fitful sleep from the beads of sweat dotting the latter’s forehead, the expression of vulnerability and the erratic breaths. Yifan observes a while longer, realizing his presence being known sooner rather than later would be wise. He stands silently off of his chair, a feat surprising for someone of his size, stripping off his cotton jacket as he easily leans his long frame over the edge of his railing, sinewy arms draping his large jacket across the other’s sloped shoulders. “Hope you don’t mind cigs.” He says, his accent present in the cool breeze swooping over them.
