“You went away. I thought you left,” she muttered, trying to keep the slight twinge of hope out of her voice. Usually went people left for any span of time, they were gone from her life for good. No one ever came back.

“Is there a reason you’re bothering me?”

“Maybe I just want to feel something. Or maybe I don’t want to feel anything. I don’t even fucking know anymore.”
