you don’t notice it, at first. the way your eyes drift, the way you find something new every time you look at their face. the curve of their eyes, the tip of their nose, the shadow that their hair leaves over their forehead.
you notice more and more, every time you look at them, and your heart softens. they laugh, pushing you away, asking why your face has turned so gentle- and you’re at a loss of an answer.
‘i love you’, is all you can breathe out, and the way their cheeks flush, the way their eyes widen, the way they try to stop the smile curling up their lips...Â
they take your heart in their hands, and hold it close and warm, and feed it all it will ever need, just with their smile. the laugh- their accusation of your love being something cheesy- silly, they say- makes your own face scrunch up in an embarrassed flush of happiness.
but, that’s what it is. you’re happy, for the first time you can think- you finally know what it means to be in love.
People who comment on every chapter of your fic as they read it are precious and must be protected.
Perhaps overlooked by many, this Vonnegut joke is indeed my favourite. You gotta love funerals with a bit of spice to them.
having sun, mercury, jupiter and saturn in 11th house, is literally me loving being a friend and having friends :-)

me two years ago: I could never write more than 2k words…how am I ever to write prose or my dissertation?
me last year: ok, I’ve written more than my dissertation will ever be in prose, but a dissertation is different
me in January: as long as I just get to the minimum word limit for my dissertation, I will be okay
me now: I’m so, so close to the maximum word limit, but I know that I could write three more chapters on this
just another day when I say that it’s nice to have friends (plural) :)
you know, coming from a perspective of someone who has experienced bullying and almost decided to change schools at one point - although I do not condone such actions, I do not appreciate how films/tv shows centred around bullying focus on the act of revenge. I used to be so frustrated and that too seemed the only way to conquer the immense feeling of vulnerability inside, and yet, it just fuels the idea that violence must be met with violence. And therefore, it never really stops the cycle, does it?
I’m mostly referring to Alrawabi school for girls, a tv show I couldn’t finish (a while ago) because it made me so uncomfortable in the way revenge is played out. I still remember my bullies, but I don’t think I would take advantage of their vulnerability just as they did mine to hurt them in a viscous way just because I suffered. What these shows love to show is drama, but not the human side of it, the way everything interweaves with everything, and these shows almost always leave you feeling bitter and uninspired. What we need is shows about bullying where bullies receive punishment by (good! trustworthy) adult/authority figures. I know that may not be the case for everyone, and most people that are bullied feel hopeless and forgotten by the adult figures present around them. But children (and even adults) need guidance! And need to know they ought to speak up! A lot of us simply are afraid to do so, or don’t even notice the bullying in front of us, and we keep silent. Whether we are spectators or the one being bullied, I just feel most tv shows don’t give examples of what we should do, or examples of people that we could go to for help. It’s all incredibly focused on revenge, but not on healing and standing up to bullies in a non-violent way. I wouldn’t want to change into a bully, not even if for revenge that’s well-deserved.
