If my scenario happened, but IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog doesn't exist, as Sega would only want their licensed comic books depicting the actual canonical universes they have, how well would promotional tie-ins like the Sonic Forces comics do had Sega's model of only producing those sort of comics happened since 2017? Would comics promoting Sonic games (and movies) become very successful for the company throughout the years? And most of all, who do you see writing the Sonic comics in this "What if"?
Number one holy shit. This was a fucking read. I cannot read this much so I feel stupid now lol
But back to your question I would say obviously Ian Flynn and probably Penders unfortunately because I know Ian did write for Archie and he did a really good job writing for Archie as well.
I think without the Archie comics I don't think games like forces would potentially exist? But if it did, if it was Italian two sonic forces I feel like they'd be a lot more serious and a lot more graphic-ish like they did with Archie. They were somewhat serious in the Archie comics and they weren't very afraid to go past certain borders. So I feel like they probably delve into Sonic being tortured more and like the death of the diamond cutters and everything. Then again though we wouldn't have like a canonical name for those groups of people that died. Not only that, I feel like they probably mischaracterized Infinite a lot too and make him super duper crazy and shit you know?
I hope this answers your question!
