The Psalm 128 reminds us that happiness is for the blessed, those who fear the Lord
The old testament does not tell us that we must have faith, God in the old testament is evident through the prophets and the perfections that we observe in creation: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" Psalm 19:1. Psalm 128 is dedicated to one of the most important concepts in the Bible, the spiritual gift of fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, stability). Through the fear of God we enter into a relationship with God, explains the old testament, we do not need the simple faith like in the new testament; and to affirm this there is a very simple explanation, he who fears God trusts in the Lord. The fear of God perfects the commandments given by Moses on Mount Sinai: “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind” Ecclesiastes 12:13. In the fear of God lies the true happiness of man, because the happiness that is born from this spiritual gift is not a passing happiness, but it is a happiness that is born from the presence of the wisdom of God in our hearts. And not only happiness, but the fear of God is also the source of all beatitude in man, as explained in Psalm 128: "Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways! You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the LORD. May the LORD bless you from Zion; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. May you live to see your children's children— peace be on Israel." Psalm 128:1-6.
