        honestly, i read the ninth book which has the whole tale of ragnar, ladgerda, thora, siward, biorn, ubbe, harald, hwitserk and ella in it. there is no mention of rollo at all—the main betrayal comes from ubbe, his son. but there are lots of construed moments in vikings canon; for example, in saxo’s legend, lagertha’s of noble birth. in hirst’s vikings, she’s a farmer’s daughter. in the legend, she set the hound and the bear outside her house because ragnar wouldn’t leave her alone and she wanted nothing to do with him, but he was far too enamoured with her fighting, and far too proud to take rejection. in the legend, there’s no mention of ragnar having a brother, only of his conquests in sweden, rome, norway, denmark and england (and probably other places i just glossed over.)
