🌌 Background / Lore
She has a younger sister called Elissa. The sisters parents died in an accident when Bella was 9 and Elissa was 5, they were then taken to an orphanage at the Favonius church.
Still at that time, little Bella promised to herself that she would anything and everything to keep Elissa safe and happy.
She started working at a young age to give her and her sister a stable home. As soon as Bella was old enough, she left the orphanage to go work as a knight for the Knights of Favonius, and took Elissa with her to live together, Elissa also started to work at a young age since she didn't want to be a burden to her sister (even though Bella doesn't mind babying her sis).
Anyway, they currently live in separate houses but see each other often.
Bella is a "average" knight, she patrols around the city to make sure the day goes smoothly without any criminals lurking around (basically a police officer but in knight skin).
💠 Personality
Bella is a energetic and outgoing young woman.
She has a mischievous spirit, always the teaser, always the prankster.
She likes to keep things lighthearted and avoids serious topics most of the time. It is difficult to soar her mood, and most people never saw her down before.
However, when in solitude, Bella lets herself be more vulnerable and show the hidden grief she has within, especially when she's drunk.
She'd do absolutely anything for Elissa, she'd give her the world if she ever asked. For Bella, Elissa's happiness is more important than her own.
Despite keeping up a easy-going attitude, she's not a pushover, and is, in reality, very assertive.
Her lightheartedness isn't a facade per se. She's genuinely lively. But she also uses it as a shield sometimes.
❤️ Relationships
Elissa Äverl (younger sister)
Bella would do anything for Elissa, she's proud of how steady and composed her little sister is, and she delights in the quiet, bookish ways Elissa chooses to live. But Bella worries that Elissa works too hard and hides things to avoid being a burden, so she fusses, teases, and tries (sometimes clumsily) to make Elissa accept help. Their bond is the thing that keeps Bella steady when the nights feel heavy.
Elise Marx (childhood friend)
Bella respects Elise's devotion and calm; Elise's presence is quietly reassuring, the kind of person Bella trusts to keep a secret or to open the church doors for someone in need. They aren't in each other's pockets, but the kind, patient understanding between them is enduring.
Lia Kölner (friend & fellow Knight)
A steady, capable friend Bella leans on at work. Lia's quiet competence and no-nonsense honesty earned Bella's respect, she knows Lia will be blunt when needed and utterly reliable when it counts. Their friendship is practical and loyal: shared patrols, sharp jokes in private, and a mutual sense that each will cover the other's back.
Levi Lohmann (friend & confidant)
Levi is the group's light in Bella's eyes: an easy company who makes even the worst day feel less grim. Bella trusts Levi's warmth and teasing energy; he knows when to put on a grin and when to show up properly, and that balance comforts her. He's the sort to bring levity to a tense mess and then quietly help fix it afterward.
Evelyn Dannerl (friend & voice of reason)
Evelyn is the friend who keeps Bella from making reckless promises she can't keep. Bella admires her gentleness and moral steadiness, and often seeks her out for sensible words when things get messy. Evelyn's kindness is a balm; Bella values her for it.
Michel Zöllner (trusted coworker)
Bella trusts Michel more than she admits out loud. He's dependable to a fault, the sort of knight who carries too much on his shoulders and still apologizes for not carrying more. She teases him for being painfully formal sometimes, but she genuinely admires how gentle he remains despite all the pressure he puts on himself. Bella has also noticed the way he lingers around the library far more often than necessary, and honestly? She thinks it's cute. As long as his intentions toward Elissa stay sincere, Michel already has more of Bella's approval than he probably realizes.
Katrin Zöllner (acquaintance, bordering on friendship)
Katrin is chaos wrapped in confidence, and Bella can't help enjoying her company because of it. She reminds Bella a little of herself: reckless, stubborn, and constantly one bad decision away from a lecture. Their conversations tend to spiral into teasing, rooftop climbing, or mutual complaints about siblings. Bella respects Katrin's determination to carve out her own path instead of letting her family decide who she should become. She just wishes the girl would stop getting herself injured so often.
Konrad Stahl (friend & superior officer)
Bella has worked with Konrad often enough to know that his relaxed attitude is a complete scam. He's far too observant to be as carefree as he pretends, and she's watched him solve problems while acting like he barely noticed them in the first place. Honestly, she finds it impressive. Their conversations tend to be full of jokes, teasing, and mutual attempts to get a reaction out of each other, though Bella enjoys the game more than she should. More importantly, she trusts him. Konrad is the sort of captain who notices when his people are struggling before they ask for help, and Bella has always respected that. Besides, anyone willing to relentlessly bother Lia is impossible not to find entertaining.
Noah Eisenhardt (friend & fellow Knight)
One of Bella's favorite people to patrol with. Noah has a talent for making even the dullest assignments feel manageable, and she appreciates having someone around who understands that not every problem needs to be treated like the end of the world. They share a similar habit of hiding competence behind casual attitudes, though Bella would never admit that comparison out loud. Conversations with Noah come easily, whether they're discussing work, complaining about paperwork, or simply passing the time between assignments. She knows that if things ever became genuinely dangerous, he'd be exactly where he needed to be, and that's all the reassurance Bella really needs.
Liane Abrell (friend & captain)
Bella has always admired how Liane carries herself. Not because she's a captain, though that's impressive enough, but because she somehow manages to stay kind without letting people walk all over her. There is a confidence to her that Bella finds reassuring, the sort that makes difficult situations feel manageable simply because Liane is standing there. Bella enjoys teasing her whenever the opportunity presents itself, partly because Liane's reactions are entertaining and partly because seeing her relax is rewarding in its own right. More than that, Bella trusts her. Liane cares deeply about people, sometimes so deeply that Bella suspects she carries burdens nobody asked her to carry. It's one of the reasons Bella tries to keep things light around her when she can. Liane spends so much time looking after everyone else that someone ought to return the favor occasionally. Whether Liane appreciates those efforts or not is a separate discussion entirely.
Rosaria Eisblüte (friend)
Bella genuinely couldn't explain how this friendship happened if someone asked. On paper, they should not get along nearly as well as they do. And yet, somewhere between chance encounters, and late-night conversations, Rosaria became someone Bella enjoys spending time with. There is something comforting about being around a person who never expects anything of her. Rosaria rarely asks questions Bella doesn't want to answer, and Bella returns the courtesy.
Alexia Lohmann (friend)
Bella is reasonably certain Alexia would collapse from stress if left unsupervised for more than a week. She says this with affection. Watching Alexia worry herself sick over the people she cares about is both deeply endearing and mildly concerning. Their conversations often involve Alexia scolding someone, Bella laughing about it, and Alexia immediately turning that frustration toward her instead. Despite the frequent bickering, Bella admires how fiercely devoted she is to her family and responsibilities. Underneath all the exasperation and impossible standards is someone with a genuinely enormous heart. Bella just wishes she'd remember to extend some of that kindness to herself occasionally.
Jonah Lohmann (friend)
Jonah is proof that not all forms of stubbornness are loud. Bella learned that surprisingly quickly. He's easy to overlook at first, but the longer she knows him, the more she appreciates the quiet steadiness he brings to every situation. Around the Lohmann siblings, he often feels like the person preventing complete chaos from breaking loose, and Bella finds that both impressive and slightly amusing. Bella trusts him completely, even if she occasionally makes it her personal mission to drag him into social situations against his better judgment.
Kaeya Alberich (friend)
Bella first truly met Kaeya through Lia, before that he was just the cavalry captain, and immediately decided he was entirely too pleased with himself. Naturally, this meant she had to bother him. What began as harmless teasing somehow turned into a genuine friendship over time, though Bella still refuses to let him enjoy winning an argument unchallenged. She appreciates that Kaeya rarely takes offense to her antics and always seems willing to throw the same energy right back at her. Despite all the teasing, Bella trusts him more than she expected to. Kaeya has a habit of showing up when people need him, even if he disguises it behind a smile and a clever remark afterward. More importantly, anyone willing to put up with Lia's stubbornness for as long as he has can't be all bad. Bella would never admit how much she enjoys watching the two of them interact, though. Some things are simply too funny to interfere with.
Idalia Graufell (friend)
If Bella ever had to describe Idalia in a single word, it would probably be "reliable." There is an immense comfort in knowing that no matter how chaotic a situation becomes, Idalia will remain steady. Bella respects her deeply, both as a knight and as a person, and trusts her judgment without hesitation. While their personalities differ in almost every possible way, the friendship works surprisingly well. Bella brings noise where Idalia brings calm, and somehow they meet comfortably in the middle. More than once, Idalia has been the person Bella turned to when a problem felt too heavy to carry alone. She doubts Idalia realizes just how much that support has meant to her over the years.
Traveler (friend)
Bella liked them almost immediately, which is honestly unfair because most people have to work harder for her approval. There is something refreshingly genuine about the Traveler; no matter how much they accomplish, they never seem to look down on anyone. She enjoys dragging them into conversations, festivals, and occasionally questionable decisions, and she appreciates that they usually play along. Beneath the jokes, though, Bella respects them immensely. The Traveler carries responsibilities that would crush most people, yet somehow keeps moving forward without losing their kindness. She worries about them more often than she admits, but trusts that if they ever needed help, they'd know where to find her.
Emil Grimmhold (mentor & superior officer)
Bella would never admit it out loud, but few people's approval means as much to her as Emil's. He was already a respected captain by the time she joined the Knights, and for years she was convinced he could somehow tell whenever she was about to do something reckless before she'd even done it. Unfortunately, experience has only strengthened that suspicion. Bella respects him immensely, not just as a knight, but as a person. If Emil tells her something matters, she listens. If he says she'll be alright, she believes him. In many ways, Emil reminds her of the kind of knight she wanted to become when she was younger. The sort who protects people not because it's glorious, but because someone has to. Bella doubts she'll ever be half as wise as he is, but she hopes she's making him at least a little proud.
Nicholas Vollmer (division commander)
Bella has never understood how Nicholas manages to remember absolutely everyone's name. She is convinced he secretly writes names down to not forget and refuses to believe otherwise. His easygoing attitude fooled her exactly once; after seeing him take command during an emergency, she understood why so many knights speak of him with such respect. Bella appreciates that he trusts his subordinates instead of hovering over them, and she's always felt like he genuinely sees the people beneath the uniforms. Even now that he's away with the expedition, she still catches herself wondering what advice he'd give whenever patrol work becomes particularly complicated.
Sylvester Hartmann (vice commander)
Bella has spent years trying, and mostly failing, to surprise Sylvester. Somehow, he always seems to know exactly what she's about to do before she does it herself. She likes to joke that he probably keeps a secret notebook titled "Bella's Bad Ideas," and honestly wouldn't be shocked if one existed. Despite all the teasing, she trusts him immensely. Whenever something goes wrong, Sylvester has an almost unfair talent for setting it right before anyone has the chance to panic. Bella has learned a great deal from him over the years.
Valeska Abegg (respected senior)
Bella doesn't get to work alongside Valeska nearly as often as she'd like. She admires the confidence Valeska carries into every situation, because it never seems to waver. Off duty, Bella enjoys listening to her stories from the border almost as much as she enjoys trying to convince her to spend more time in the city. There is something quietly reassuring about knowing someone like her is watching over Mondstadt's roads.
Nelio Wächter (Elissa's closest friend)
At first, Bella worried Elissa's quiet nature would leave her lonely, so seeing someone as devoted and trustworthy as Nelio at her side eases a weight she rarely speaks about. He may seem distant to most people, but Bella quickly realized how attentive he is when it comes to Elissa specifically. She appreciates the calm stability he brings into her sister's life and trusts him far more easily than she trusts most people around her. Bella occasionally tries to drag him into casual conversation or friendly teasing just to watch him get flustered a little. It's become strangely entertaining to her.
Venti Windfeld (drinking buddy)
A disaster. An absolute disaster. Bella says this with great affection. Nights with Venti usually end in terrible decisions, questionable songs, or both, but somehow his company makes the heavier parts of life easier to carry. Beneath all the drinking and nonsense, there's something oddly comforting about him, like he always knows exactly when someone needs to laugh instead of think. Bella doesn't fully understand him, and honestly isn't sure anyone can, but she likes him regardless. Sometimes, during quieter moments between songs, she gets the strange feeling that he sees far more than he lets on.
Joel Luftner (drinking buddy)
Bella has lost track of how many poor decisions can be traced back to Joel's influence. Or her influence on Joel. At some point the distinction stopped mattering. Despite that, Bella genuinely values his company. Joel has a way of making difficult things feel lighter without pretending they don't exist, and she appreciates that more than she says. She also knows he notices far more than he lets on. Bella has caught glimpses of that side of him often enough to trust it. Besides, anyone capable of making Elise sigh that frequently deserves at least a little admiration.
🎨 Visuals
Bella has short, slightly messy bob, white hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. She is 164 tall.
Her main fit: A crisp, high stand-up collar in white, edged with fine gold piping, frames her neck. At the throat, a slender teal ribbon is tied into a neat bow, its tails tucked into the front of her jacket. Underneath sits a fitted, sleeveless black gambeson-style top that keeps her core protected without hindering movement. Over that is a sharply tailored white jacket, open at the front to reveal her inner layer. The shoulders are cut away entirely, an open-shoulder design. Teal panels line the inside of the jacket's lapels and cuffs, each edged in thin gold trim and pinned at the waist. On her right arm, she wears a long, dark leather gauntlet that reaches past her elbow, with teal inlays tracing its length. Her left arm remains bare, save for a decorated cuff at mid-bicep. A pair of high-waisted teal shorts sit snug at her hips, cut to mid-thigh. The waistband is accented by subtle gold piping and a slim leather belt with a small satchel for potions, tools or scrolls. A single leather thigh strap on her left leg secures her Vision. Her legs are otherwise bare. She pairs this outfit with calf-high black boots, with low heels and reinforced toes.
✨ Fun Facts / Trivia
• She started drinking at 18 as a way of coping, but it became a vice.
• When feeling solemn, she goes to Starsnatch Cliff. The reason is because her parents used to take Bella and Elissa there to watch the stars, so it became a safe place for her.
• Loves hearing Elissa's singing voice. Finds it really beautiful, and thinks it's a shame that she doesn't do it often or openly.
• Her favorite tavern is Angel's Share.
• "Accidently" became Venti's drinking buddy whenever they're in the same tavern.
• Tries to make Elissa go out more and "live a little" (emphasis on the try).
• Her fvorite drink is dandelion wine, but she tries to never drinks in front of Elissa (emphasis on the try, again).
• Hobbies: Sparring matches, rooftop running, pulling harmless pranks on friends, and sometimes reading Elissa's recommended books (though she'd never admit it).
• Her least favorite thing are formal ceremonies. She'll smile through them, but she'd rather be fighting Hilichurls than giving a speech.
• Fears (secretly): Failing to protect Elissa, and being alone with her thoughts too long.
• Likes: Teasing Elissa (lovingly). Local tavern music, especially if she can sing along drunkenly. A good sparring match. And climbing rooftops for no reason other than to feel the breeze.
• Dislikes: People who disrespect her sister. Long meetings or political nonsense. Anyone trying to offer "savior" advice she didn't ask for. And feeling like she's losing control of herself.
• Bella knows almost everyone in Mondstadt by name, not because she's especially observant, but because she talks to literally everyone.
• She cannot walk through Mondstadt without getting stopped by at least three people.
• In rare moments, Elissa calls her Bell.
🧩 Thought Process
At first, I just created her to be Elissa's extroverted big sis. Later I decided to give her more thought and depth.
She was visionless at first, a merely mentioned NPC in Elissa's lore. After changing Elissa's Vision from Anemo to Geo because I ultimately noticed Anemo wasn't right for her, I decided to give Anemo to Bella instead. And it was from there that I decided to develop Bella further.
I used Venti as main inspiration for her. Mostly his personality tbh. Also used Jean and Kaeya a bit.
🌟 Ending
I'll probably add more things later, but for now, that's my girl Bella.
Btw, Rosaria's and Venti's surnames are my hcs.
